      While you all were wearing summer clothes, it’s our winter in America and most western countries. We had a beautiful Christmas time and wore our warm clothes, from head to toes. Even in parts of California, it snowed in the mountains. Wizard of Oz ozone of my favorite film to watch and the star of the movie, Judy Garland, would be so amazed to see so many things made from the famous movie. Judy Garland was just too cute in the Wizard of Oz and starred in many movies on her career. Another one of her great movies was, “Meet Me in St. Louie”. Her daughter, Liza Minelli should go on this ride to honor her mother. But she probably won’t go on the roller coaster! Lol 😄… We have Warner Bro. Studios in Burbank, CA., but it’s not an amusement park, but tours of where t.v. shows were filmed, like the show, FRIENDS. Thank you for sharing!😄. Btw, my older brother has been to Australia when he was in the American Navy when he was touring for six months on an aircraft carrier. He told us how much everyone he got to meet was so sweet and thoughtful. A lot of people (especially the girls) wanted pictures with my brother and the other Navy crew. He brought us a lot of cool souvenirs back from Australia. 😊

      Almost all the ride queues at Movie World are like that. It's one of the biggest theme parks in Australia, but it's nowhere near the size and budget of Disney or Universal.

    • @SmathmotheAwesome
      @SmathmotheAwesome Месяц назад +16

      They built scooby doo and that queue area had/has great theming. They can do it, they just didn't this time, for whatever reason.
      My biggest complaint about MW is the lack of shade in queues. It seems like MW should have a duty of care not to force people to stand in the blazing sun for long periods. The qld sun is brutal. It's frustrating to see this issue yet again with their new rides.

    • @ThemeParkOgre

    The indoor queue theming looks great, shame about the outdoor portion in the sun lol. Having watched a POV, I would also love if they did something with the ride tunnels in FOTWW. It's a small moment but even just some painted flying monkeys and/or wicked witch would make it look so much better than just plain grey paint.

  • @cupcakkexpeaches2217
    @cupcakkexpeaches2217 Месяц назад +63

    The chain link fences ruin the theme in some sort of way, and I feel it’s really underthemed in some areas, especially the wicked witch station and the emerald palace, it just looks so cheap and boring, but I’m just gonna be grateful that it’s open now.

    Definitely more could’ve have been done. The weird murals of clouds in Munchinland look strange when I think they could’ve made the building facades taller. More details could’ve been made to the surroundings in the Emerald City by adding more towers as well. Also if I wish they would make all of the queues in doors all the way to the load station instead of the majority of the line being outside with little theming. Had so much potential. Maybe they’ll slowly add more to it as time goes on but I know that’s wishful thinking.

You did better than we did, we gave up after waiting 45mins in Wicked Witch queue (both rides were suffering teething issues at the time) as we were starting to feel sunstroked 😫😓🔥 Jumped in the air conned car and drove to Dreamworld instead to have lunch in the restaurant and cool off 🥰

      @@ThemeParkOgre It is only a shell of what it was when it was originally open in the 70's. I went there as a kid and it blew my mind. Granted, it was more of an environmental, immersive experience than a theme park. You literally traveled with "Dorothy" and she led you through the story of the film, picking up more live actors in character along the way. There's no way it would satisfy today's kids and anyone expecting thrills, but it was magical to a 6 year-old back then.

      agreed, Aussie parks just have no idea. I mean Movie world for example already has a bunch of roller coasters, boggle the mind they would just add two more hoping to attract more visitors. A themed dark ride would have been a much better choice. I also think wizard of Oz was a bad choice on a new land too. there are much better options out there than a movie that was released in the 40's. the owners of these parks need to do a few trips to Disneyland and universals to see how they run.

    BTW, the current rights holder for The Wizard of Oz movie (1939 MGM production) is basically Warner Bros. under Turner Entertainment unit, that was a year before Tom and Jerry franchise was born and eventually they had an animated remake and crossover between Tom and Jerry (with several MGM Cartoons of course) back in 2011 and a sequel released in 2016 as Tom and Jerry: Back to Oz. It's nice to see Warner Bros. Movie World goes to the Ozian land. Unfortunately, whilst I do get your point about Defying Gravity, it wouldn't fit, as that's Wicked, not Wizard of Oz, and whilst Wicked is indeed based on Wizard of Oz, I feel like Wicked's version of Oz, itself, is it's own thing with a very diffrent musical esthetic to the original.

    Looks great to me, despite all the negativity. The wizard himself and tilted tornado room are awesome elements. My home park is a 6 Flags with minimal theming so you can whine about fences or enjoy what's there because they really don't need to do anything but have rollercoasters.

    • @ThemeParkOgre
      @ThemeParkOgre  Месяц назад

      Disagree, they advertised it as a world's class themed area and we got something akin to Six Flags instead. If it was advertised as that from the get go then fair enough, but it wasn't sadly and was misleading. Which Six Flags are you local to? Must be cool living near one!

    Yeah, its ok but its definitely lacking in overall finished details...in the Oz section, the "Emerald City" walls need more detail and not just be plain green walls! That whole back outside queue area of both Kansas and the Witch with all those Black fences...needs some work, some theming and more details! Especially compared to the indoor queue parts for both coasters before that point! Its a major difference in detail and is kind of a shock! Also yes...the station for the Wicked Witch was pretty bland and disappointing! Like you said, there are some great spots here and there and some really poor spots that need work!
    Hopefully they spend some more and add more to this area over the next few years and improve these issues!

    Such a mixed bag of a land. Like you can tell they went all in on the theming and immersion, especially with the queues, but the main area being so limited in space makes it feel weird and even claustrophobic with its wonky layout, and painted walls and facades plastered onto the show buildings.

    Wo. Oh my goodness wow. I'm a blind person, and I'm actually slightly confused/fascinated by something, the audio presentation. Can someone please describe the video sections to me? Once we get into the actual vid. Is there, essentially, different musical themes playing throughout, is it a scene you're walking through or are they facades? I can hear Over the Rainbow for a while but at one point when it stops we hear Come Out from Munchkinland in the sort of distance.
    So, in Movie World, how did they get to the presinct and what are we walking into/from? I'm now really interested, as it really seems you can hear each thing as you go near. Sometimes in theme park lands it's just one big loop throughout the entire land but this sseems... different?

    • @ThemeParkOgre
      @ThemeParkOgre  Месяц назад +1

      Hey there! Thanks for checking out the video. The entrance to the land is located behind the Superman Roller Coaster. There's an archway with figures of the Wizard of Oz gang, and a Yellow Brick Road which leads to the main area. This is where "Somewhere over the Rainbow" gets played on loop. The main section of the land is a little courtyard themed to the Emerald City, with a large facade of the Emerald Palace. In this courtyard is also a very small facade of Munchkin land, with some Munchkin Houses. Here they play a few different instrumental bits of Oz music, which is where you heard "Come Out". You enter the Emerald Palace facade building, which leads to a well themed indoor version of the Wizard's room, with the Wizard's face showing on a screen. There's two side doors which lead to the Wizard of Oz Roller Coasters, with one being themed to the Wicked Witch, and the other being themed to Kansas during the Twister. The RUclips channel "Jaggs Journeys" will have a similar video to min uploaded soon, but he talks, so it may be easier for you to enjoy. But thanks for checking out mine!
