I like them both for different reasons. The Texas Specials have more high midrange bite and treble whereas the Fat 50s are a bit smoother with more low mids and bass. Thanks for doing the comparision with the same guitar so we can hear exactly what's going on.Some people use two guitars with each pickup set not taking into consideration that two guitars can sound quite different just with the wood alone.
I absolutely love ALL of your videos. You offer such nice samples of playing, both clean and overdriven. I love that you don't just play blues licks. That gets old! Really enjoy your playing and it helps me decide on which pickups I would prefer to get. Thank you!
I like the specials… pretty close though, after 5 minutes I’d be doing ok with either… the amps got tone knobs after all… that’s a nice little riff that’s got a bit of everything in it.
awesome comparo... confirmed all other comparos that some settings sound similar but others the Fat 50's stand out sounding warmer, and I like warm pickups
I have Fat 50's in my 2016 Strat, I certainly don't dislike them but they are very much one dimensional in that they sound terrific clean with a touch of reverb, but forget it if you chuck on some overdrive, they are very bright... too bright and they don't play well with overdrive. They just feel weak when it comes to overdrive.
Fat50's sound amazing to me besides the middle pup. This is why I am going to blend a set of Fat50's with a CustomShop69 in the middle to make positions 2 and 4 more Straty but keep the fullness and heaviness in 1 and 5. Anyways, thank you so much for making this video. By far the best comparison on YT! Some kick ass playing too!
Fat 50s are rwrp at middle position, where custom 69s are not. You can find a set of cıstom 69s with rwrp at middle but they dont sell them seperately, only set. Without rwrp i wish you luck with custom 69s.
@@kutaycan8631yep I know so I ended up blending fat 50’s (neck and bridge) with a v-mode II in the middle for that reason and I absolutely love the way it works. It is exactly what I wanted to get from the sound.
Pretty close. The Fat50s seem to have an extra sizzle in the lower mids, richer highs, and a deeper character than the TS. Vintage-tone aficionados will probably gravitate toward the Fat50s. That said, the TS sounds wonderful as well. Retaining a good degree of Strat character but w a slightly modern kick
Fat 50’s sound airier and warmer. Both sound good; both sound like they belong on a Strat, but I tend to play on the neck and there’s a warmth there that sounds perfect.
Thanks for using the same guitar....( very critical for A to A comparison) I thought i am going for the fat 50s after watching many clips. I like the bounce on the thick strings and the bright of the thin. But here it seems the texas special sound more sparkling/chimey especially on the bridge and bridge+ mid, right? After finished watching: guess i have to go with Texas special.
The Fat 50 middle pickup has less midrange than the TS. And in general, TS has more middle and high frequencies on all pickups than Fat 50. And in general, it is difficult to make the right choice on RUclips. It is better to buy TS and Fat 50, play them for a week and make the right choice. Thank you for watching. Good luck in choosing pickups!
@@3hcland Greetings. Thank you very much. I would love to make a comparison video of the TS vs 57/62 pickups, but unfortunately I have already sold those pickups. But if my business goes up, I will buy these pickups again and shoot a video on them. Thank you.
I can't recommend you. You have to choose yourself. The Texas Special has more mids and highs. In general, I would choose Fender American Standard 1996. This guitar is perfect for Dire Straits I think. This is my subjective opinion. And it would be even better, buy Texas Special and Fat 50's, play them and you will understand what suits you better. Good luck!

I agree with you. Thank you very much!
I think the Texas Specials have a cleaner sound and everything else can be done with EQ. Remember EQ guys? Works wonders.
They're both good though.
Best comparison of these two pickups on RUclips. Well done!
Thank you very much!
I have the Texas Specials in my 2010 Amer. Std. I love those pickups, but also really like the Fat 50s.
Funny thing.... It's not that much difference, but it makes all the difference for me. Thanks!

I just ordered the fender custom Texas special shop sss pickup for my stratocaster I can't wait to put in my guitar.
It’s good pickups. Hope you will like it! 😊

Texas to me is the great pick up for all
great comparison. I think 50's have more twang, but both are just fine
texas for the bridge, 50's for neck and middle, imho
Both sets sound amazing. Love me some Strat tones. 🔥🙏💙
Texas mid focused, silky highs. Fat50 open, airy. Both great pickups. Depend on taste.

I would go with any of these! Texas Special more Spank, Fat '50s more Warm.
I heard the contrary, fat 50's more edge

Дякую)
Та який високий рівень, ти про що? Це просто порівняння різних звукознімачів, та ще і зіграно хреново.😊
fat 50s are better for me, they are closer to the classic stratocaster sound. the ts sound like non-fender pickups
Maybe 🤔 yes.
texas specials sound better to me. More mids and the bridge is a huge improvement! The 50's sound too ice picky
Fatso 50's for me.
te felicito, muy buena comparacion

Texas special pickups
V-mod II sono i migliori pickup
Las pastillas fender más dinámicas jamás creadas son las texas special sin duda alguna.
Fat 50s sound like Clapton
What series of guitars is this?
This is Fender American Professional One.
Is the wiring from tone to pickup the same as before?
@@XIGZIX I was using two Fender prewired pickguards. Texas Special and Fat 50s prewired pickguards.
@@ElvisSasha If we change only the pickup Can we connect the wires as we want?

i invent my own riffs. the licks shown here are concidered traing wheels bro.
it's a pickup shootout... not a lesson on writing or phrasing... wtf??
