Just wanted to give some quick thoughts on this hybrid. In case you're new to the channel, I'm a big fan of hybrids and generally like the Escape though I believe the CX-5, RAV4 and new Tucson are much better vehicles. Just thought I'd mention it here. Thanks for watching
The hybrid Tucson isn’t getting anywhere near the mpg of the Ford and the CX-5 is only gas-powered. I really like the Ford but feel there’s a stigma to buying one and I’ve driven Hyundai for the past twenty years! I know there’s better options in the Tucson (I feel the RAV4 is uncomfortable and am surprised as a tall person you wouldn’t feel your head is in the roof) but I can’t shake really liking this vehicle, especially in the Titanium trim!
Have had one for about a month and really enjoy it. It is a good soft ride. I am getting 40 mpg overall, which is very good. I have seen people talk about the speakers not being good, they seem fine to me. People talk about the lights, they light up the road, no complaints. My main annoyances are: The center touch screen would be better if it could be angled about 22 degrees to the driver, middle, and angled 22 degrees to the passenger for better viewing. Better compartmentalized storage. You have the spot in the middle island, while huge, it is easy for things to get mixed up in it, the same goes for the glove box. I would much rather have a few more smaller spots to store things, like change for tolls, ID badges and other small items. Lastly, more information. There just seems to be a lack of car information that is displayed. It would be nice to see which tires are getting traction, for instance. Overall, a great quality SUV and well worth it.
I LOVE this suv. So classy and quiet running. Kudos to Ford for making this suv stand out. My family had every Ford that was ever made and this is by far the Best!!
Ford really shouldn’t have gone with the “ECVT” name for this kind of drivetrain. It doesn’t use the belt/pulley system of a typical CVT. Instead Ford uses a functional clone of Toyota’s “Power Split Device”, which Toyota has also called their “Hybrid Synergy Drive”. It uses a planetary gear set and 2 electric motors; the smaller motor acts as your generator, regenerative brake, reverse gear, and ‘gear ratio input’. The larger motor is used to move the vehicle forward, and its power/torque ratio is derived from how fast the smaller electric motor spins. All of this meshes with the gas engine completely seamlessly; it can act as a typical drive motor that pushes the car forwards, or as part of a generator, or a mixture of the two. Toyota designed this box of wizardry in the 90s, and has been putting it in every model of Prius since. Ford licensed the technology in the late 2000s, and to this day buys the “transmission” component from Aisin, Toyota’s primary parts supplier for this sort of thing (they’re also owned by Toyota). They’re incredibly reliable, and the torque fill from the electric motor(s) perfectly makes up for the lack of torque the Atkinson cycle engine would otherwise come with. The 2.5L ICE in this setup is also only loosely related to Ford’s other engines - it’s actually a Mazda L-series engine from the late 2000s with a modified cylinder head. It’s a very simple, rugged design. Iron block, iron sleeves, iron head, with port injection instead of direct injection. They’re very reliable.
suggestion: please include in your next reviews, the suspension and under chassis videos updates, so then it will be more complete reviews, i like your reviews
I just upgraded from a 2006 Escape to this one in the SE trim. It's so smooth and quiet, and sport mode definitely has a kick if you want it. Seems like a great vehicle. Just crossing my fingers for reliability, I want to keep it for at least 10 years.
Compact? More mudesizw in Europe it would be one of the larger ones. Had an test drive with an Expedition last week, nice but with over 5 m in length nd 2.3 m in with you have definetly problems to get a parking space here.
Last Monday that I got a 2020 Ford Escape SE in black. My last Ford Escape died on me and it was a 2015. I’m saying this is the 5th generation. The 2013-2016 and 2017-2019 are a little bit different from each other. That is 3rd and 4th generations. I had my 2015 one for almost 5 years. I’m getting used to all of the controls on the 2020 Ford Escape.

Sadly it’s a CVT 🤮
Such a turn off
eCVT.. big difference in longevity and robustness.
eCVTs are amazing. such a turn on. would never go back to a slushbox.
eCVT is a terrific setup.. I will only drive eCVT going forward
Have you driven one? It's incredibly smooth and powerful.
Sadly not a lot of people understand the difference of ecvt and normal conventional cvt 😂
