    As a Carhartt conasuer I appreciate the vid and the more the merrier 💪🏻I currently run the washed duck 3m insulated active jac and a washed duck sherpa lined (updated sierra sandstone) and they are both impeccable and will continue to be for years. Well designed and executed as to be expected. Being in NE WI the winters are tough but my Hamilton's are always tougher 🤙🏻

    I'm sure you are the only review that actually states your height , chest size and sizing. Beside the Japanese videos which are only in the Japanese language. I just bought a crap ton of carhartt jackets because they are all on sale . I had to do a lot of exchanging because carhartt is not consistent in sizing especially when labled "loose fit" which depends in the jacket model and variations within the yukon series.
    I have your chest size but I'm 5'10 and this jacket you are reviewing is on my list. Your video really helped with visually scaling the size. Thanks man!

      Yea if your 5'7-5'11 and 160-190 regular medium size is a must ,hope this saves people some time,especially knowing how difficult it is to find places that carry these or actually have them instock.

      @ThInKb4uSpEaK regular carhartt sizing is all over the place. I recently ordered artic traditional coats and had to return the mediums for a small which is perfect on me. It's perfectly still oversized for layering since Im no longer want slim fits anymore. The reviews in Amazon are absolutely right in sizing for that coat so I'd reference amazon reviews for the best possible fit

    • @thinkb4uspeak643
      @thinkb4uspeak643 Год назад +2

      @Nav R1 I agree, the sizing charts ect.. especially on carhartts own site is extremely off and its almost impossible to go off of reviews without atleast trying on something made by them that's somewhat similar, I'm beginning to think that carhartt is doing it on purpose to have more sales from people who order multiple sizes even though they know they'll endup returning whatever doesn't fit..I spent countless hours online, youtube and running around to different stores before finding out what I really needed such an unnecessary thing to have to do just to get a jacket.

    I got Active Jacket and I like it, but there are two noticalbe things imat these jackets. 1. there aro no pockets large enough where you can put large phone and close your that pocket. 2. These Jacket doesn't hace collar, so wind goes right to your neck and you always have to wear something on your neck at windy days.

    Need help! I bought the J140 off Amazon. It doesn’t have the same looking tags as my j140 I bought from Cabelas a year ago. It’s not as thick either. The Amazon part number is 0j0140 but they listed it as 140. Is this the same updated jacket or a knock off???

    finally someone who measures the chest and waist ... the jacket looks nice and bombproof but in europe unfortunately I don't have the opportunity to try it on. Here in Italy there are almost exclusively Carhartt Wip stores. my measurements are similar to yours. 5'7 in height but 175 in weight, broad shoulders and muscular physique. Think a small is too tight for me in the chest? In your video I see that you're only wearing a t-shirt under your jacket...do you still have room to wear other layers? otherwise I guess I'll have to order a medium. Thanks, Ciao
    My chest measures approximately 43 inches

    • @tempestreview
      @tempestreview  Год назад +1

      Hey Fabio! These are great questions. I have ample room for layering underneath the jacket to wear a shirt and one or two mid-layers. I have worn the thick Patagonia Better Sweater 1/4 zip (www.patagonia.com/product/mens-better-sweater-quarter-zip-fleece/191743854798.html?s_kwcid=17928&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIopW24IrZ_AIVBabICh0QmATyEAQYBCABEgLmmPD_BwE) underneath this jacket and had no issues with mobility or feeling that the jacket became too tight.
      What I’ve experienced with loose fit sizing for Carhartt shirts/jackets is you should go one size down from what you typically wear in U.S brands. For ex: if you usually wear medium jackets and shirts in U.S brands like Nike and The North Face, a small should fit well. Unfortunately, I cannot say which size will be the perfect one for you, as I didn’t even know which one would be perfect for me until I tried it on. However, the “go one size down” trick seemed to work for me. Hope that helps!

    • @fabiogaronzi7347
      @fabiogaronzi7347 Год назад

      @@tempestreview thanks for the detailed answer. Normally I wear size large in European clothing brands ... for American ones it depends, usually M but for example with Columbia I wear L ... with North Face Instead M and the same with the regular fit models of carhartt. At this point I think I'll try to take a small for the loose fit model. Thanks again and hope to see more of your videos on carhartt stuff

    Nice video. you know if the 3m jacket has any major differences? It looks the exact same but apparently it's 3m lining.
    Edit: This one seems to be firm duck. I think the 3M one is cotton duck. Thanks for sharing that link or I would have never known the difference!

    • @tempestreview
      @tempestreview  Год назад +2

      Hi icarusfeather 👋🏽! If you are speaking about the 3m Thinsulate active jacket (style #104050) then there are a handful of differences such as pocket construction, interior insulation, and hood drawcord placement. The J140 has a firm duck finish whereas the 3m has a washed duck finish. The J140 is similar to this jacket in the sense that both are made of sturdy 12oz cotton duck and have triple stitched seams.
      There are other differences and similarities, but those are the ones I saw upon first impression from looking at their descriptions and images!

    • @icarus2k
      @icarus2k Год назад

      @@tempestreview Wow thanks for the detailed reply, I gotta sub after that. Which one would you buy? I'm weighing the options.

    • @tempestreview
      @tempestreview  Год назад +1

      Thank you! Since both have a warmth rating of 3 and similar features, I think it all depends on your preference.
      According to the product description of 104050, it is an updated version of another active jacket, the J130. It has features that make it “new and improved” such as flexible elbow pleats and lined front pockets. The jacket will have a comfortable, broken-in feel because of its washed duck finish.
      However, the J140 has stiffer fabric due to its firm duck finish so I’d be more comfortable putting this through daily scrapes and stains while breaking in the jacket over time.
      As a reminder, I haven’t tested the 104050 in person and I just got my J140, so these are just my initial impressions of the jackets.

    • @tempestreview
      @tempestreview  Год назад

      Hi there! The sizing can be a bit tricky when it comes to Carhartt’s loose fit jackets, so I recommend going to a nearby sporting goods or workwear store to try one on yourself. You are definitely either a small or medium though. For my build, wearing a Carhartt loose fit medium hoodie was oversized and much too baggy. The small loose fit hoodie was baggy enough to fit layers underneath, but much better fitting.

      Hello! I agree that the online photo of the jacket appears darker than the real life version. However, this is certainly the J140 in the gravel colorway. If you are looking for a darker color, then the black or navy blue colorway may be a good alternative.
