Mundine & Blacklock! the reason why every kid wanted to watch the Dragons in the 90s!! Mundine always played great in every game!!!!

He played really well for the Broncos too (1997), and I remember being disappointed when he left. - Just imagine it, Renouf & Mundine in the centres, he was part of (in my opinion) the Best Broncos team of all time.

@@johnl9843 Great athlete and sometimes a great player, but not all the time. He whinged massively about not getting the five-eighth role, but Kevvie Walters was a much better #6 than him. Just better at finding gaps and linking. He and Langer had had years together and created magic alongside each other. Mundine's ego and sulkiness wasn't a big enough reason to break that up.

@@johnl9843 Read my comment again. I never actually said he played there for the Broncos. But he had for St George. And the rest of what I said stands.... there was no reason to break up the halves pairing the Broncos already had. And he whinged about it, saying he was better than Kevvie Walters. And he probably said something about racism.... he can't finish a sentence without saying that.

At his height - what a player. Mundine, I think, became a victim of his own confidence. Many called it 'arrogance' or 'ego', but I firmly believe this guy was misunderstood. That 1999 season - just, wow. Name me a better number 6 that season? You can't. Freddy 2nd to Choc that year, ultimately lost to him in the semi. Absolute fallacy to not get selected for that Aussie tour.

That's a tragedy and a disgrace if this is true.He is one of the most gifted rugby league players I have ever seen.I played against him for qld at the national schoolboys open rugby league championships in 1993.From what I remember there was talk he was already in the aussie side before the carnival kicked off. That's how impressive his reputation was even back then.
So sad he decided to leave the game of rugby league. The game that brings out the best in you because it's so demanding physically and mentally.
If he decides to keep playing rugby league he would of donned the green and gold of the kangaroo's for sure.He was already having success in origin. It was only just a matter of time. You can't keep a quality player out.He had time up his sleeve.
We were all robbed of your best years of playing the game brother. So sad to see you leave choc!

Mundine was a athletic freak. I believe he was fast as Roy Jones. However Roy Jones just had more skill to show case his speed. Mundine was always too nervous to fight in the pocket. I think because of lack of experience and training earlier in his career.

He done pretty good in boxing considering he only went on natural talent everyone else trained boxing since they were a little kid Mundine was a rugby player turned boxer it’s like taking Roy jones jr in his early 20’s an making him play profession rugby league even if you don’t like someone you have to give credit to someone who believes themselves that much where they actually accomplish stuff that certain boxers who trained there whole life couldn’t achieve

Unfortunately whether right or wrong he comes across arrogant and no body likes an arrogant person. I acknowledge his ability. I always thought he had a chip on his shoulder due to his heritage. Maybe if he considered letting his skill do the talking then things would have been different. Interesting his nickname Chocko would be considered racist by some yet he proudly wears it as a tag - so is he in a way supporting racist labeling?
