DISPLACEMENT - DEFINITION
Displacement of the object is equal to the length of the shortest path between the final and the initial points. Its direction is from the initial point to the final point. It is a vector quantity.
For example, if a body moves along a circle of radius r and covers half the circumference, then the displacement is given by s=2r
INTRODUCTION TO DISTANCE - DEFINITION
The change in this position can be determined through distance measurements.
This allows us to know how fast or slow motion is. The movement of a snail on the ground, a butterfly flitting from flower to flower, a river flowing along on clear rounded pebbles, an airplane flying high up in the air making jet trails, moon going around the Earth, blood flowing inside our bodies, there is motion.
Total distance covered =speed×total time taken
