This video shows the most basic binding trim used in car upholstery. Usually, the binding strips made out of vinyl, leather, fabric, etc. are stretchy thin strips. Not too thick strips are easier to sew and handle.
These trims are used as decorative being sewn down along the edge of a carpet piece or another piece we want to reinforce or not let some thread ends fray.
It can also be used to attach to pieces of vinyl/leather, etc. together in order to give shape to some items, such as bags, wallets, suitcases, etc.

Ahora ya sé el truco del maestro César! :-)
Estimado Johnny, Me da mucho gusto saber que Ud. y sus seres queridos se encuentren bien sobreponiéndose a la pandemia aún vigente.
En español la traducción sería "ribete". que como parte de la tapicería es usado para rematar/adornar y a la vez reforzar bordes de diferentes materiales. La forma que muestro es la básica que todos los tapiceros de carros usamos, sobretodo en los pisos de carro. Las formas de ribetear están muy relacionadas con el oficio de la zapatería y la fabricación de bolsos y carteras. Hay que practicar todas las formas.
Hay un set para ribetear que nos puede ayudar mucho para los que tenemos las Pfaff 1245. El set incluye las 2 patas, una placa de aguja con abertura rectangular, un peine de arrastre que tiene un hoyo roscado para entornillar la parte frontal del ribeteador que tiene que moverse de adelante para atrás.

The set includes the binder itself plus an extra special needle plate (it has a rectangular hollowed opening) and feed dog with a threaded hole to fasten the gadget that would move back and forth.
What I am showing in this video is a traditional way car upholsterers do binding. To improve quality it is advisable to get the proper attachment.

Did You ever try „Scotch ATG Adhesive Transfer Tape 924“ for tasks like this? I purchased it for myself with the rather bulky applicator and it comes in handy for quick fixing edges without messing around with a sticky brush. Although it’s a little bit more pricey than glue, I have to admit.

Maestro buenas noches esperando que se encuentre bien, como siempre excelente vídeos con mucha presión.
Quiero compartir con uds. Parte del proyecto del tapisado del sofá cama, originalmente trae el marco de fierro ( bastidor) igualmente sus flejes de plástico en medio como base, pero yo sugiero usar madera (triplay de 1/2 o 3/4" como base en asiento y respaldo en lugar de los flejes, pondré esponja de 10cms.de espesor X 20 o 24 kgs. De densidad, sobre está pondre otra plancha de esponja de 3cm x 17 kg. De densidad esto para darle forma cóncava a la orilla del asiento ( dónde descansan las rodillas) y también para que esté más confortable, usaré terciopelo automotriz o velour y esponja de 1 cm x 17 kg de densidad para hacer plisados y piezas sin plisar( lisos o planos).

Me parece buena idea la que tiene Ud. para su proyecto. Entendí que no va a usar los flejes y en su lugar pondría madera de una sola pieza como base. Le recomendaría soldar mas refuerzos de tubo cuadrado (igual medida) a las bases/marcos metálicos.El terciopelo automotríz se me hace un poco mas resistente que el velour. No olvide que tanto el terciopelo como el velour tienen 'vello' en su superficie, por consiguiente es necesario colocar esta tela en una sola dirección para que 'peine' igual y de un solo tono de color y brillo. Generalmente, los tapiceros colocan la tela en posición que 'peine' de arriba hácia abajo.

Es una máquina industrial, triple transporte, 6 mm max puntada, fabricación alemana, marca Pfaff 1245-706/47 (version antigua) Muy similar a la Pfaff 545 y al otro modelo mas viejo que es la 145
La versión moderna es la 1245 de patente alemana fabricada en China que trae bobina jumbo y da puntada de 10mm.

For this demonstration I have used 'car trunk carpet'. For the car floor I also use the automotive thicker pile wool carpet.

I bought these old machines with clutch motor included. I practicaly use the machines to post videos as a hobby once in a while. That is why I have not considered to buy a servo yet.

I’m looking to find a better sewing machine for car upholstery n carpet. What kind are you using? I was looking into a sailrite brand . They look beefy 👍 what do you think 🤔
I am currently using an old Pfaff 1245-706. Regarding the Sailrite sewing machines I know they offer two models, a double transport and a triple transport. I think the triple transport would be much better to sew heavy materials.
