  • This week's Factorio FFF blog post covers even more QoL features coming in the 2.0 update. Some very exciting additions like filtered pumps (my personal favorite from today), the ability to read whole sections of belts with the circuit network all at once, and a new Logistics Network GUI. I do have some gripes with that, but overall these are great changes!
    Let me know your thoughts down below!

    Factorio is a game in which you build and maintain factories.
    You will be mining resources, researching technologies, building infrastructure, automating production and fighting enemies. Use your imagination to design your factory, combine simple elements into ingenious structures, apply management skills to keep it working and finally protect it from the creatures who don't really like you.
    Join forces with other players in cooperative Multiplayer, create huge factories, collaborate and delegate tasks between you and your friends. Add mods to increase your enjoyment, from small tweak and helper mods to complete game overhauls, Factorio's ground-up Modding support has allowed content creators from around the world to design interesting and innovative features. While the core gameplay is in the form of the freeplay scenario, there are a range of interesting challenges in the form of the Scenario pack, available as free DLC. If you don't find any maps or scenarios you enjoy, you can create your own with the in-game Map Editor, place down entities, enemies, and terrain in any way you like, and even add your own custom script to make for interesting gameplay.

    Rather than open mini-maps for where an item is, would be to add extra icons to the main map that display where items are when selected in the list.

      Was about to say the same except maybe replace the roboport icons for the selected items icons to reduce clutter.

    I wouldn't worry about your critque being taken as a negative complaint. They are showing things in the FFF specifically to get that kind of valuable feedback before delivery. As a solo dev, I crave that sort of stuff on my projects. Swing away X!

    This is really random, but I'd just like to say that the video length being 18:00 on the dot is extremely satisfying lol

    I am really liking the QOL improvements, particularly being able to set filters on pumps in 2.0 but one thing is still missing or hasn't yet been revealed. I really want the ability to reveal what item is on a belt simply by hovering your mouse over it. This would finally bring an end to the "is this my stone bricks or my concrete belt" dilemma!

    I agree with you, and really like your idea of being able to click on an item to see where they are. I'd definitely suggest that in the subreddit/forum post

    A small change to the logi map: when you hover over the item on the right it shows the logistics information (ie drawing arrows from providers to requesting chests) so you can see the logi flow

    Oh my god, the fluid filter, I am so excited for it. One of the biggest issues with one of my mods, is that it outputs different liquids to the same output point, and there weren't any good fluid filter mods to prevent clogging; this completely solves that problem!

    I hope that you can search for the items in the logistics guide too, narrowing down to which specific networks it is available in.

      It seems to be about every 5 or 6 FFFs! So you might be right. 5 FFFs after we saw Volcanus we got stack inserters and green belts. 5 after that we got Fulgora, and now we are 5 after.
      I feel something a brewing.

    I love the idea of having just one fluid drop-off, but they'd need to add a purge valve to empty the pipe (would be fun if the contents became pollution). But before that we need to fluid performance improvements that were pulled out of 1.0 due to testing constraints. Fluids aren't terrible right now, it's fine for a megabase if you keep your pipes simple, but I avoid doing anything complicated with them to preserve UPS.

    • @inkwell60
      @inkwell60 3 месяца назад +2

      As long as you arent pumping passed the max value of storage in tanks given the length of pipe when unloading, this wouldnt be an issue. Youd need combinators to set train limits, but nothing complicated.

    Maybe use the big map version, and when you select or mouse over an item it puts a colored overlay on the map of the item locations within the network, or even a gradient overlay of item count (like a heat map). Zoom the map to the bounds of that network, and display the logistics coverage (the existing orange overlay) when not selecting an item.

  • @adrianocs4
    @adrianocs4 3 месяца назад +1

    That pump filter and the train interrupts is basically instaling LTN mod in base game. Whith that you can use a single wagon station to drop of 4 types of liquids and 4 solids, from 8 diferent trains routes whitout acidentally mixing things.

    Another awesome video! I agree, the belt guardrails definitely look nice, i just hope it looks nicer when sideloading, doesn't make sense phasing through it.
    Fluid sorter is NICE for railworlds. I always railworld deathworld and i hate coming back from clearing a nest to see light oil in my lubricant lines :|
    Love the evolution process of their UIs. I never knew about the logistics UI before LMAO.

    Belt rails just for spending some wires on em? SIGN ME UP! Feels just like Satisfactory belts!
    Filtered Pipes though? I am gagging already at the idea. Maybe I need to see it in action to get over my aversion to such a concept lol. I just....my thought noodle isn't long enough to wrap around this idea, as it is too tangled up around logistic bots and train signals still (I only just got back into the game like two months ago and I was never "into" the game the first time I played seven years ago, so I'm basically a noob all over again)

    If the item icons in the final design were selectable, that would be able to tell you where they are.

  • @angeldude101

    The map shows icons whenever you click on a network for each roboport in that network. Clicking an item in the network tab should do the similar, showing icons for each member in the network with that icon (maybe all networks)? In a similar vein, clicking on a member in that tab should show icons for each instance of that member. Clicking on a specific icon in the remote view with the logistics window open can also show a third panel in the network tab showing the items in that particular member.

    Didn't they already say that they added factorio search functionality? I just read #400, and they said they did search for production but not chest content. interesting that the Factorio Search mod can provide that function, but they thought it would be too slow.

    Apparently, because of the way the fluid mechanics is, mixed pipes won't really work. The way it does the whole sloshing around means that the pipe contents probably wouldn't be "even" enough to make it viable, and stuff can get stuck in the wrong pipe or a pipe fill up with one fluid and the other fluid can't move passed it, for example. So sushi pipes could be done, but would be horrible. Well, more horrible than the fundamental existential horror that is sushi belting, I mean.

    I like the layout of their final GUI iteration...but agree, without the ability to locate/specifically search for a specific item's location, it becomes less valuable of a GUI in WHOLE. So...from the item list-out on the right, being able to "click to search" or "click to locate" to bring up a minimap that isolates where that specific item can be found would make this GUI WAY more useful.
    And this could be accomplished even without a minimap...or searching through specific networks....use of a "search bar" or something like that...and with the added "pins/waypoints/etc" can even be assigned to give the player a PIN so they can navigate to where it is....not simply tell them on the minimap.

  • @zesox256
    @zesox256 3 месяца назад

    I think the new GUI still focuses to much on displaying what is there.
    By I found out by using the LTN Manager Mod that the most interesting information is what is NOT there. An overview of all currently unfulfilled requests would be amazing to find bottlenecks and fix them.

    Don't need the functionality of finding an item in the logistics menu because they added the more powerful and generic search function to the map view.

    hmm, i don't think cutting down the rocket launch animation by that small of an amount will solve the bottleneck problem, especially being so cheap to launch now and able to craft materials for a launch much faster with quality. So I wonder if space science will be rebalanced to not be as important or it will make up for it with higher quality silos giving more science? otherwise we'll be building giant silo arrays.

    • @silksongreactions
      @silksongreactions 3 месяца назад +3

      I’m pretty sure the main method of acquiring space science will be on space platforms and launching rockets is more for moving items between planets.

    I dont like one minimap for each chest. If I have a buffer area with 24 chests I dont want 24 minimaps showing the same area a few pixels shifted. I am ok with minimaps if there is smart grouping otherwise no, I would rather have the space for the rest of the GUI.

    I disagree, if I have 10,000 of something I'm not worried about it I have tons, if I find my bas bus empty and I have 10,000 in chests then yes I would care then. However I find that I mostly check hey to I have my 8 nuclear plants and things so I can build my 8 bu nuclear plant, in my mall production of the 8 plants takes a while, yes I suppose I could just add an alert check that sends a text spatus box to the alters, but I tend to be far to lazy for that, though i don't know why, because I should just fix my mall so it is designed to produce 8 and when I have everything I need for the plant then trigger a build event so I can add my full plant to the factory. I Krastorio 2 I use at least 5 of these, and the last run I started to make 10 but not sure if I did or didn't get it done. I should build better stuff but as I move up the tree I find more and more issues probably because I am bad at planning.
