I bet after that climb out you wished you chose to get out a touch before Z-Bend at Ross Graham lookout instead. Brutal exit with the kayak, but then again kinda fitting having watched the rest of the trip. Great couple of movies mate well done on the films and the trip.
@@SaltyDavenport It's called 'Canoes In The Kimberly'. Lots of pulling the canoes over and around intimidating but very beautiful obstacles. Really looking forward to the next installment of your trip.
Hey Salty, when Guy (D'Guys) dropped me off on the Ajana Rd for a Hardabut start, he said to expect to be caught up by a 'bloke with a kayak' he'd dropped at Galena Bridge the day before. Guess that was you! Well, mate, MASSIVE KUDOS. It was close to impossible to pick a trail on foot, so I didn't believe for a second anyone could get a boat through. Really REALLY glad you made it. And out. Sheesh! Don't suppose you found my bivy pole about halfway between HP and Ross Graham on the RHS?
Fabulous video Salty. Just visited Z Bend and appreciate the bloody big effort involved in getting your kayak up that track. Awesome photography and music.
We camped in exactly the same spot on Sat 28th August but it wasn’t a waterfall anymore, just a small trickle of lovely clean water! Our hiking pace sounds the same as your slower kayak legs! We struggled with the rock climbs!
So good mate. What a stunning landscape. Those boulder rapids looked absolutely brutal though. I dare say there would be a few strong words coming out of my mouth during that part haha. You did well. 👏
This was such a great series man. Love your work in general, your compositions and cinematography is up there with the best, and so good to see WA showcased the way you do mate. Hope you get to do the last half (and easier half) of the Murchison river one day soon.
Brilliant production , we loved it , my girlfriend is doing from Ross graham to natures window in the same gorge in a few weeks , hopefully as spectacular as what you have shown us..thank you
Great vid legend. Bet you were stoked to carry the trolley the whole way and not use it 😂 just beyond the z bend the boulders in the river get pretty hectic and the portages get a bit more sketchy. Then it’s smooth sailing.... comparatively ✌️
It's very gratifying watching someone else drag a loaded kayak across rocks. If you do a trip like this again, you may want to consider rigging a strap from the kayak to a waist band so you can pull it by walking forward. Much easier on your arms and back.
I enjoy the type of travel you do and the locations. My last trip was to Eletchbutting Rock solo camping. I have done the western side of the Kennedy Range and the bottom half of the eastern side (Honeycomb Gauge etc). Keep doing the videos mate.
@@lyallwithers2516 Thanks Lyall, Awesome to see you getting out there mate! How good is the West of Kennedy! Its a shame they're starting to mine it though.
Thanks mate. Yeah I was soon told that I shouldn't have thrown it back as they are a bit like blowfish and consume everything leaving not much for anything else.
those perch are endemic up there so they are desert survivors, not pests. i caught them at ellendale pool on the greenough tasted very good apparentley they are the fish seen swimming in wheel ruts after storms.
Haha wasn’t giving up champ, like I said, I had run out of time for the distance I had ahead of me. Too slow of a start to make it the distance I wanted to.
@@SaltyDavenport just taking the piss out of you. Done a few rivers like that to and the low water can slo you up a bit. Have to do again after a good rain. What’s the rest of the river like ?
Agreed, which was half the problem in a way. There was no info on what the water levels were within the gorges and how that reflected if it was passable or not. Now i know haha
Your videos are bloody awesome. As an australian living in Africa your videos give me a little taste of home
Soo good! Thanks Salty for going to the effort to make these videos, really appreciate them, cheers.
Awesome scenery, admire your tenacity Salty. But I don’t want your kayak when you’ve finished with it. 😂
Love WA.

Pure grit and determination got you through legend. Thanks for showing us such beautiful country
Love it. Like watching the legend Malcom Douglas with the brother boys pull the yaks through on their epic voyage. Over West there 🖤
Sounds epic! I will have to have a look for it.

I'd be interested to see how she goes. I hiked Ross Graham to ZBend this weekend and it was getting very shallow in places.
Stunning...so beautiful there. Thx mate.

Haha mate that was actually a very large spangled perch. They don’t get much bigger! Well done!

That was my original plan but it became a bit of a hazard when the kayak slid sideways and I was attached to it.
love it mate something fresh and completly different to he usual run of the mill outdoor channel goings on 👍
Thanks legend!
Amazing video, absolutely I like it.
Love ya work mate , maybe we could team up . Fly in see ya on the track somewhere 👍✈️✈️
3 minutes in I thought here comes a string of words for sure! But you remained the total pro ;
Hahaha i was doing my best not to let it all become too much.

Awesome video. I would have lost my lollipop long time so. Great scenery, you did extremely well pulling the kayak through all that.
Hahaha thanks mate!
A Herculean effort Salty, thanks for sharing
Cheers Neil!
Mad. Loved it Salty.
Genial amigo 👌👏👏
That was epic! Well done..
Another great video! The last one I watched was the Frank Hann Park video with the fuel stop in Wickepin.

Huge effort getting that kayak up that trail

Really really enjoyed these videos, thank you for showcasing your challenges you legend
Amazing trip-such awesome scenery to experience
Hey great vid! Did you happen to make a record of what the water level gauges were saying at the time you paddled?
That's is amazing what you are doing for fun looks like a amazing place and to have to yourself looks like a lot of work well done mate
Cheers David. There were definitely a few fun moments in there.
Looks brutal mate but well worth it!
WOW amazing

I love your real life adventures, so challenging, but what incredible scenery 🌟💜
Great adventure
I really enjoyed that.
yeah no ones done that leg b4,that looked like a massive spangled perch u got and released ,they are very good eating great effort,

What was the trail that you walked the Kayak up? I couldn't quite get it
Cracking vids!

Funny, you don't look a bit like Jim Baird but that paddle thru the bushes looked alot like one of his trips.
Wow, great scenery and great video. Is that a Garmin inReach mini on you? If so how do you rate it?
Hey mate, it is indeed. Its perfect for the nightly check in with preset messages but a bit of a pain if you want to type something out.
@@SaltyDavenport thanks mate!
All worth it for that scenery
hi salty, is there a walk trail along the river and how many days did it take you
Epic!
1:57 Looks like somewhere form Middle Earth. Would hate to negotiate that in the dark!
That poor kayak..
hahaha she lives another day!
