What I've observed is that it's all about mixing poor financial education, easy access to credit like credit cards, and the influence of Instagram. People want to "flex" more than they earn or have, and there's a widespread desire to become a social media influencer. This trend is mostly prevalent among young people, as opposed to adults who usually have the financial means to afford such lifestyles. If this behavior isn't addressed early on, India might face similar financial struggles to those currently being experienced in the US with debt management. While increased spending can be beneficial for economic growth and brand profits, this "empty growth" is not sustainable in the long term.

"Money can't buy happiness" is just something poor people say to make themselves feel better. I've never seen anybody sad in a Ferrari
      Look, happiness is complex.
Good health brings happiness. So does good relationships. People also need fulfillment, purpose, and connection. Developing gratitude and serving others makes you happy.
But one thing is for sure: money CAN buy happiness.
Or perhaps a better way of saying it is that you can use money to enable good choices that make you happy.
It depends on what you do with it!
On the flip side, and more to the point, money can alleviate misery.
I’d rather cry in my Ferrari.
Money doesn't buy you happiness straight away.
      it buys convenience.
      Convenience buys freedom (of choice.)
      Freedom buys you satisfaction.
      Satisfaction buys you hapiness.

people and even NRIs in comments saying we shouldnt be materialistic after reaching prosparity stage
seriously ? these people go outside for more materialistic thing for high salarys ,better std of living and yet they cant even afford to call their parents to live in usa even after earning 70k,80k,100k dollars per year(ik nothing is wrong going outside India for more opportunities, but what an irony)
and they say India shouldnt become materialistic
    india isnt becoming materialistic
they are taking back their own thing what was taken away by Brits

Why did you stop with "Rich gets richer". What happens to the poor?
How do you see young gen following brands rather than value as real growth trend?
As a country, we've grown this far because of our chase towards values and less affinity towards brands.
Please rethink if this is true growth.

SHE NOTICED THE MOTHER, TOOK SOME OF THE RICE AND WENT OUTSIDE WITH IT!!! WHEN SHE RETURNED SHE ASKED HER WHERE DID SHE GO AND SHE REPLIED, " I WENT NEXT DOOR AND GAVE THEM, BECAUSE THEY WERE ALSO HUNGRY "!!! THE NEIGHBOURS WERE MUSLIMS!!! THIS IS TRUE LOVE IN ACTION!!!❤❤❤
