William Wallace was 'hanged, drawn and quartered' and beheaded. The movie audience was spared the details of the ordeal William Wallace had to go through, on the day of his execution. Unfortunately the only part of this movie that is true is that there was a man called William Wallace who won one battle against the British by employing certain tactics regarding a choke point at a bridge. There is no evidence to suggest that the practice of prima nocte (Lord's first night with a bride) was ever practiced in the British Isles. No information is available regarding Wallace ever being in a romantic relationship and he never met the Queen of England, let alone slept with her. It was a well crafted story to make the audience feel a certain way and this story would be rather popular with the Scotish and Irish diaspora around the world. If they just told his story as it sits in the history books, the film would only last about 20 minutes max. Mel Gibson grew up in Australia. If you watch his first successful international film "Mad Max", you will notice he has a pure Aussie accent. He follows a similar formula in other movies like "The Patriot", where he tries to portray the enemy as being pure evil to tap into the audience's emotions.

Now, you can still enjoy this movie. As long as we realize it's pure fiction, we can have fun.
Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍
@@jonkerr7667 That is true, the director said he wanted to capture the "feeling" or something to that effect. Doesn't really explain how you get the date of death of the King of Scotland wrong in the opening minutes of the film or completely omit Stirling Bridge from...The Battle of Stirling Bridge, not just that it's in the name but it's the only reason the Scots won the battle, the way the real battle is described would have fit well in the film and made for an excellent on screen battle imho. Such a shame because this is the same guy who made We Were Soldiers, a fairly accurate account of the first soldiers in Vietnam and a stellar film.

Could they make their shields a little bit bigger?
Yes, but then, carrying them to battle would be a problem. It makes me think of the old question can God in his infinite power make a giant rock so big that he can’t lift it?
History, not accurate.
But amazing movie. And because most history videos don’t want to tell you this. America had to fight the same feudal oppression country. And kicked their ass.
The fight for freedom and individual right can win. It takes perseverance.
Without French assistance, America would remain a colony. because the English military power was greater. The rebels did not have the Prussian military preparation to win against the English.
Great 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
