I expanded my beds so I’m hanging out at Lowe’s a lot nowadays. Your enthusiasm is infectious! That’s how I feel when I think about the plants I’ve collected. There’s at least 💯 and I’m so ready to plant. 🌺
Plant clearance section at Lowes is ridic! I always head straight to the back! I also pick up those loose healthy succulent leaves, on the floor or shelves. They are so easy to propagate!
I’m a sucker for roses and I found a David Austin rose bush at Lowe’s for $13. I had nowhere to plant it so I made a whole new bed just so I could plant that bush. My husband thought I was crazy. 😂

I just found your channel 2 weeks ago and I’m so inspired. I went to my HD last week and asked about the clearance section, the person said. “HD don’t have a clearance section because they can just return the plants to the nursery and get a replacement.” I said thanks, I’ll check Lowe’s. Went to Lowe’s and the in had clearance plants. Thanks Jess for the inspiration. I’m also proud to see a young woman owning her own home and taking care of it. Congratulations

Those dahlias are very pretty! At the end of the season you can dig them up and there is a tuber that the stem for the Dahlia will be connected to a whole bunch of little ones don't separate them because they have to have an eye to grow just like a potato needs and I you just can't plan a piece of the potato. You put them in a dark place that's cool for the winter and then in the spring you can replant them when the ground reaches about 60 degrees. You don't have to dig them up and save them but you can have them from year to year and the plant will get bigger with more blooms each year that you let it grow

Thanks for sharing with us the secret clearance section at Lowe's! I had no idea it was there and I always go to Lowe's. I bought a bunch of clearance plants there recently. I have been spending a lot of money on plants this year because of I've been trying to stay at home as much as I can because of covid. I love saving money and my garden is looking great! Thank you! Girl the smile on your face as you told about these plants had me smiling also. I went to my Lowe's this morning and grabbed some $1 plants. I need to go and put them in the ground.

I love clearance plants it that shelf up first. I rescued a gardenia from Walmart for 69cents.She coming along beautiful now after I clean her up and repot.
Subbed. Dahlias are not really annuals. At the end of the season you have to dig them up. Their roots look like 3 or four fingers attached to the stem. Don't disconnect the fingers. Loose the soil and pull the plant out of the ground. Some say to leave it to draw the good stuff from the leaves into the roots. Then after it is totally limp. Couple hours to a day, cut the plant off the roots. Give the roots a quick rinse and dry if they are muddy. store in the garage in newspapper or something dry and dark but with some airflow. Plant them up into pots after two months dormant and `they will grow. Put outside in march. Propagate free plants from your cuttings while they are small to encourage bushier plants. Love your shopping, camera, editing speaking skills. You are good.

That was one awesome haul!!! I wish we had big box stores that had plants on clearance in my country (Greece), but I do think we do have better prices here in general, at least for the "outdoor" plants. Can't wait to see you planting them!! Have a wonderful Sunday!! ☺️

Hummingbirds love Lobelia and you can even plant them in hanging baskets or plant them in your pots and let them hang down the pot... I think lobelia will come back in your area if they're planted in the ground because the ground will insulate The Roots but I doubt if they'll come back if you have them planted in a pot unless maybe you put them in an unheated garage that never gets to the point of below freezing
How fun! So awesome to plant something iving and watch it grow, something so peaceful about it. I am in NC as well and I love planting, started a raised bed garden this spring, OMG best thing ever.
I'm so anxious to start raised beds!! Hopefully next year 🤞

Lol this was a collection of several different shopping trips I only drive a small sedan so transporting is always a challenge but I make it work! 😉 98% of all the plants in my garden are clearance rescues, they really are resilient & beautiful with proper care! 💚💚💚

You are so lucky to get those clearance deals here in Illinois we have clearance but not like yours, I’m feeling like our clearance isn’t a clearance . I’m gonna keep checking Lowe’s and Home Depot maybe it’s too early for a good clearance sale

I bought dalias for $1 three years ago and I still have them. I cut them back and keep them protected in the winter in pots and they come back every year. They have Hardy roots and will return #lovemylowes looking forward to seeing how it turns out for you... You did Good!!!

Those dahlias might be perennial for you depending on your zone. They are in my 8a garden. Google that. If not, you can dig up the tubers and plant them after your first frost and have those beautiful blooms every year. Look at the Impatient Gardener's video on starting dahlias. You may have done much better than you think!

I love a good markdown. I totally stalk the Lowe's here. Our Home Depots don't do markdowns. They have some weird agreement with their vendor to throw the plants away if they are unsellable at full price. Such a waste!
Maybe it depends on the location of the Home Depot. My Home Depots has markdowns. I’ve bought some each year. The agreement is that the garden centers that grow the plants are the only ones that can mark the plants down, which they do this once a week. When they restock the store, I’ve approached them several times with “dead” plants and they mark them down every time. Best of luck.

Try Mosquito Bits...it is sold in Home Depot or Lowe’s, but I buy mine off of Amazon. It works wonders!

I work for HD as my PT hustle we do NOT mark any plants down as they are they are consigned and belong to to the vendor.. I'm surprised to see u say that NC HD is doing mark downs.. I was pretty sure it was a corporate wide policy

Each store does it different days of the week & both Lowe's & home depot alternate every other week so u just have to know ur stores schedule.. We have 4 Lowe's in my city & 3 home depots all on diff schedules.. I go so much & have friends that work there so I just know lol. 🤷🏾♀️😀💚

I love everything you bought accept the flower with the spider mites. I really don't think they are worth it because they can cause so many problems with other flowers. Spider mites can infect your entire flower beds. It cost money to treat the spider mites. Just a thought the next time.
Yes spider mites are no fun but luckily I kno how to treat for them both indoors & outdoors.. Otherwise I would have left them rite there in the store! LOL I def won't be planting them until they are all good👍🏾 Also linked my video on spider mites in the cards😉💚💚
Yes. Great haul, but I would never invite spider mites into my garden regardless of the discount. Not worth the risk.
The clearance rack at my Home Depot is horrible...plants all the way dead
Good deal, but this will never happen at my Lowe's or home depot. They will never Mark the plants down that cheap. I don't care how dead they are. Then if you ask them the person that marks them down went home already. Just a bunch of bs here in Bay area they don't want you to get a deal. Smh
My lowe,s stopped doing mark down. I was so sad about it because of the mark downs my yard is very nice now . I wich they wood start back.
