Well that was unexpected! - Dumoine river canyon 50CMS (Bonus Dumoine rescue gear brekadown)

Well will you look at that! More rain brought up the Dumoine to 50CMS and I’m off work… guess it’s time for a canyon lap! Little did I know this was going to be one of the most incredible runs I’ve been on. On top of that, the day was quite eventful.
Starting at the Grand chutes cabin, we started with a small interview with Wally Schaber, the founder of the Dumoine Tote Road trail. He talks about new safety gear that has been purchased to make the Dumoine river and trail system safer.
Once on the water, we paddled ip to the first rapid thinking the boof on the left would be the same but better at 50CMS than at 40CMS when we had last did it wity Lev. Turns out the difference from 40-50 is 20% which adds up quite quickly when you’re locked into a narrow cut bedrock gorge! The result was an inoffensive swim, a bunch of giggles, and a bootie beer for Brent at the end of the day!
The rest of the run was just absolutely all time, and I am so stoked to have it in my backyard.
