This is why they really need to nix the black jacket challenges, I miss when they just simply eliminate someone and the rest who make it to the final 5/6 are automatically awarded the black jackets. Because within a challenge, the last person to receive it was already on the thinnest of ice, AND, another really annoying pattern is the chef who most deserved a black jacket, is eliminated.
Andrew from 16, Jennifer from 17, Kanae from 18, and… and this is a big one; NIKKI from 19. I will never ever ever ever understand how and why Amber got the black jacket over Nikki.

Personality doesn’t matter on HK, if that was a factor on the show then we wouldn’t have winners like Meghan S14 or Ariel S15. She caused a ton of problems and 100% made her team fail more often than they would have if she wasn't present because the coordination and teamwork would have been better. @@NekoLilyK Once again, this isn’t a personality competition. Not to mention that using personality as a factor is a horrible way to judge the competition considering.
      - This is a highly stressful competition.
      - You’re filmed on camera almost 24/7.
      - Editing always makes things seem much worse than they actually were (Jennifer S9 even confirmed this).
      - Once again, chefs act differently outside the show and are actually nice people (because this position is off the show, who knows how a contestant will act, a head chef position at the prized restaurant is a lot less stressful than a line cook under HK conditions).
Elise was bad, but considering the fact S9 had absolutely trash talent, Elise was one of the better chefs we got (unfortunately despite being pathetic as a chef). If this was a personality based competition, then there would be no cooking competition. What’s the point of a cooking competition if you’re only going to pay attention to personality? You can’t pull the stupid “Looking for a head chef” excuse when we also have winners with bad personalities regardless and for the reasons listed above. The head chef is determined through consistency, challenges, service standouts/leadership, pass, and most importantly, FINALE. Nothing else
Also, Elise wasn’t the sole cause of the red team being bad. Literally everyone except Jennifer and Jamie were trash and nothing more. Teamwork and coordination can’t go much further when you have trash competition.

Atleast with Gordon, while when he does yell at his chefs, he is still respected because he is a fair man and will give praise where praise is deserved. Having a bad personality can effect a kitchen a lot and while its not taken in to account, it still refects on a chef overall.

Clemenza was one of my favorite HK contestants ever as he was picked on from beginning to the end by his teammates, usually over petty reasons, blatant favouritism (don't tell me that Justin wasn't biased in never recognizing Brian's mistakes during services), and a more than evident alliance in the Blue Team against him that came off in the final 12 in its worst evidence. Despite all the pressure he costantly got through, and his personality easily dropping from bombastic to overly anxious, he was able to bounce back the whole time ending, rightfully, as the 2nd to best male of the season as he always had proven to be during challenges and services (Brian was more consistent but never saved the situation alone or made a decisive score) yet he was still ostracized during the final when it came to decide from the eliminated contestants. Ramsay kept him so long because he saw all the passion this guy put when cooking and how much he burned for showing off his qualities, something that was often misunderstood as just "small name, big ego" by his teammates instead of giving him support, unlike they did with each others. Last but not least, lot of Clemenza's mistake didn't come from overconfidence or being shallow in his approach, but for being way too passionate to (often) either overlook simple mistakes he could have avoided or crumble spectacularly on his own self-disposing anxiety of performance.

    6. Sara (Season 2) - one of the most unprofessional chefs in HK history; say what you want about Elise, but at least she took the competition seriously. Watching Sara treat it as a joke (or at least it looked that way) really annoyed me.
    5. Jen (Season 4) - like Sara, part of me felt like she treated the whole experience as beneath her. Sometimes, that can carry more weight than a poor performance.
    4. Josh T (Season 14) - credit for his eagerness, but he was making way too many mistakes, and thought he was better than he was, which is a huge energy killer for me.
    3. Sabrina (Season 8) - worst season by far, and so even making the black jackets wasn't saying much that year.

Where’s Tommy? He was pretty bad during Season 9 and worse than Elise. Also, Sharon deserved to go, as Sharon did poorly 2 services in a row, while Jen didn’t mess up at all in episode 2. Sabrina, Robyn (x2), Matt, and Josh all getting black jackets basically made them lose any value they could've had. While Josh is 100% the worst chef, Sabrina would be the worst on my list, because the others still fought or had help by the producers and Gordon that they didn't ask for, while Sabrina literally cried, lied, and manipulated her way to one. There were many others who did so throughout the show's history in other seasons, but the rest of them just barely missed out on a black jacket, unlike her.
Virginia's not only the worst runner-up in this show's entire history, but quite possibly in all of reality cooking show history in almost any competition and television series that's similar to Hell's Kitchen. She was literally just kept around from the producers wanting two female finalists that season. Gordon was mad at what Keith said because he knew it was true lol.

Let's not forget Sara ever sabotaged Virginia one time and made Chef Ramsay made to Virginia.
I think Virginia is not a bad chef as she's always winning so many challenges. She's just lacking of confidence and not believe in herself. But then again, competing someone like Heather who is so serious and determined from day one will make anyone feel nervous and crumble.

Sara was a villain and she never listened. There were allegations that she was a bully in her earlier days and it possibly showed in the El Paso incident with her weatherman bf. The reason that Virginia got by was due in part to her palette (one one of Nick's podcasts which she mentions she never realized that she had this talent). Sabrina was like Sara 2.5 and extremely annoying. Matt I think literally lost it. Found an article that mentioned he worked in one of the twin towers as 911 attacks occurred (and was able to safely get out) and unsure if he had PTSD. He did seem like he did crack mentally as the season continued. Josh kept making the same precooking mistake in the final service as he did that got him the first notable elimination via ejection that sous chef Scott ripped into him and accused him of sabotage. Apparently he runs a company that sells vacuum-sealed cooked and ready to eat foods that are normally found in fine dining restaurants. Mind you a 'junior' sous chef could be considered similar to a vice GM in sports (as they don't have any authority and really observe and slowly get mentored). Trev I felt was a mess. When you have Ramsay literally helping you on getting meat done properly (which I don't think ever occurred before Season 8 and during a black jacket dinner service). I would think it was would make any chef look bad. Nona said it best about the training wheels during this incident.

She started with getting the villain/delusional edit on her original season (an edit I almost think she got due to how much attention Elise's villain edit got on Season 9, and they wanted another one of her). Then she comes on this, and sort of gets the "starts off poorly, but redeems both her character and performances over the season" arc. Many comments I saw even said they started off not liking her, but began rooting for her as the season went on. She almost got a similar edit to Ra'Jah O'Hara on RuPaul's Drag Race All-Stars 6, going from a villain to a sort of underdog (although Ra'Jah was kind of a frontrunner on AS6). Plus, like Ra'Jah, Robyn was kind of the narrator of the season too, giving great confessionals and hilarious moments.
