Genius.
Something I would've made on a Saturday Night while watching college football than make it in front of Gordon Ramsay
As soon as Ramsey started puking out the chocolate-covered fish, I get an ad that starts off by saying, "Food is for nourishment," and I immediately burst out laughing.
LE FISCHE AU CHOCOLAT???????
😂😂
Definitely a nourishing experience for the Chef
I got an ad for milk. Close enough.
I got an ad for paper towels and the first words were "Got a monster spill?"
"It's the first time in my life, I've ever had a cooked Cesar Salad"
*the grilled salad from Kitchen Nightmares slowly and menacingly approaches*
gotta wonder which one was the real first, lol. he says it was the first time both times, but both can't be true
@@sabrinafletcher7884 I thinks hells kitchen, I just look at the camrea quality. Idk tho.
the other reply is correct. season 2 of hells kitchen is from 20p6 and that episode of kitchen nightmares is from 2012
@@sabrinafletcher7884 To be fair, I'd block the memory of a grilled ceasar salad out, too.
Well the first one was simply sauteed while the one from kitchen nightmare was grilled. And he states that it is the first time he had a cooked Cesar salad...while in the other show he states this is a first for me a grilled cesar salad. He differentiates the two by the manner of which they were cooked, so there for both of them are a first. One being cooked in a skillet while the other on the grill. I don't think Gordon is that dumb that he would forget what he has tried or in the first case didn't. Also you don't cook lettuce. You can, but you shouldn't. Lettuce is filled with water which makes it soggy and tasteless.
Honestly, I respect Guy for outright telling Gordon he burnt it. I can always respect when someone owns up to their mistake.
Better than lying
And in most cases youll not be absolutely destroyed by Gordon. Tell him outright and it shows you realize the mistake you made. Doesnt fix it but at least you admitted it
@@svartrbrisingr6141 Yea, I'd rather admit that I have improvement to do then feign perfection.
@@TheOneWhoReportsForDuty even the clip itself Gordon didnt chew the chef a new asshole. Since it probably stunned Gordon that someone openly admitted their mistakes and recommended he doesnt try to dish because its ruined. Since that takes some balls of steel
I also watch Kitchen Nightmares a lot and Chef Ramsay can identify if the food is canned, microwaved or not fresh even sometimes by just looking at it. Even in one episode of KN, he said that the microwave looks like on the blink even though he hasn't seen the kitchen yet.
I kinda respect the idea of telling Gordon not to eat your own dish if it came out wrong. Shows a bit of integrity. "Id rather lose than serve something im not proud of."
Same
Same
Note Gordon didn't chew him out for it.
Also, he looks embarrased and dissapointed when he explained it unlike Mike who has audicity to be slick only for him to fail after talk shit to Gordon
Can u pls give me the time stamp for this?
20 seasons later, they still haven't learned. Nicole, from Season 21, presented boxed tagliattelli pasta, and made a sauce with canned tomatoes.
I still can’t believe she did that like everyone knows that you don’t serve Gordon anything pre packaged, frozen or canned
She might be the first boot. If she fucks up the wing challenge at least.
@@thepancakereviewer I think she is. I watched the preview for the next episode, and when it cuts to the Blue Team’s kitchen (the 40’s team), she’s nowhere to be found.
Two things are constant in Life: Change. And that pasta is morethan likely not made from scratch.
Yess! I was like girl come on! Why!
I'm sorry. It may have been a dumb decision, but "I teach manners too, Chef" is lowkey iconic.
Yeah anything Gordon could have said after that would be a cope
Yeah I agree. She kinda gagged him with that ngl.
Y'all forgetting about "Ms manners fuck off back in line"
It IS fcking iconic🤣
I drop that gem every now and then when me and my girl get into it 😂
Antonia had balls thinking she could make a gumbo--which takes HOURS to make--in 45 minutes. I make gumbo all the time and it literally needs to simmer for hours for the flavors to come together. Otherwise it's scorched flour and oil with no flavors yet
That gumbo was an absolute disappointment
she might have had balls but she had no brains. She literally decided to try to do something that takes a long time to do in 45 minutes. I wonder what short cuts she had to do to get it to the plate. I assume that was what to led to the flavor.
That’s exactly what I was thinking- Maybe her gumbo actually tastes good when she has the time to properly make it? I bet that was her shortcoming. There just wasn’t enough time to make a proper gumbo.
I remember for cooking class senior year I wanted to make exactly what she did- a Mardi Gras Gumbo, for our “pick a state and make a dish from it” unit. Not only was Louisiana the first state to be picked (I ended up doing New York instead and my dish turned out excellent), but I was advised by my group members that if I picked Louisiana, gumbo wouldn’t work cause a gumbo can’t be made in 45 minutes…
… Years later, I guess they were right. Thank you cooking class group members.
@@Morayyeel64 They saved you from making the worst mistake of your life, they had your back and I love it
@@mackenziewoloschuk7375 Oh hell yeah; I’m glad they advised against it, and I guess I’m also glad Louisiana was the first state picked by someone else, otherwise I could have decided to still go through with the gumbo plan despite the warnings. One day, though, my partner and I plan to make a proper gumbo. Sure it’ll take 3-4 hours but I bet it’ll taste great.
The words of Petrozza "I believe my dish was memorable" has never been more true. May he rest in peace!

I always loved how Mike tried to back pedal and say "packaged...UH....fresh tortellini" lol
Along with the audience's "AWWWW" growing increasingly louder after every mistake.
It must've said "fresh frozen" on the box or bag. Yeah, that's it. Total accident, thought it was fresh!
@@SetzerII fresh frozen out of the can
@@SetzerII they do that now a-day, I find it hiliarous on the pictsweet bags

I miss the tone of the signature dish challenge where Chef Ramsay tasted the dishes one by one. The atmosphere felt tense in the early seasons.
Especially when they have to present it in live audience and they only said "Woooo", "Yeaahhh!" Or "Ooooo".
They just want to see Gordon Ramsay humiliated those poor contestants live and the contestants feel more nervous.
What is that? America's Got Talent?
Agreed, even aside from the cringe live audience, it felt, I don't know, more authentic? For Gordon to just be straightforwardly sampling what the contestants believe to be their best dish, without any "points" or anything. Just tasting it and telling it straight. It's before they've even started the competition "proper", no clue why they felt the need for him to start scoring IMMEDIATELY.
first 2 or 3 seasons was when hells kit hen felt like a British show rather than a over the top American show
Made it seem like an actual judgement of their skills and not just who made the best signature dish out of the 2
I love how Gordon sees the gumbo for like 0.5 seconds and immediately exclaims. Kills me every time.
I thought i was ready but i wasnt. Bahababah
In Petrozza's defense, his dish was memorable.
For all the things wrong with it
I honestly wonder how good it was

“I believe my dish was memorable.” Yes it was.
May you rest in peace, Luis Petrozza. Despite the mistakes and the dirty workplace, you were memorable for all the good reasons.
Petrozza passed away? No way! How? TIA
He had lung cancer. My granpa died from it as well
I love how Gordon Ramsay really wanted to insult the dude who fed him Raw quail eggs and chocolate but he was so out of energy from throwing up he just told him to piss off back in line and fuck off which really shows you how sick that dish made him he really wanted to add more to that insult but he couldn't cuz he didn't have energy I feel bad
And the fact Matt made it to the black jackets annoys me everytime I'm reminded about it
That dish doesn't even sound appealing. Nothing about it makes sense
Disgusting. Raw eggs and fucking chocolate? Who the fuck mixes those 2 together and says "yup this is good" like fuck noooo. Ramsey shouldn't even ate that at all. Some people don't deserve to be cooks/chefs. That's like mixing mustard with peanut butter.....it'll taste like shit.
Then again, he was straight to the point, which was enough for everyone (except Matt, of course) to get the idea.
@@ChristineTheHippieand Matt considered himself a "true culinarian". He brought SHAME to all culinarians!
The masculine urge to serve Gordon Ramsay a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and tell him it came from a can.

I'll give Guy props here...because he KNEW he f***ed up his dish and had the balls to say to Gordon that "I f-ed up my dish and I wouldn't even try it if I were you!"
I respect his honesty for telling the truth.
I like how the dude who made Hen In A Pumpkin clearly knew Ramsey was gonna have issue and just danced with the blows. Good attitude.
Every single time i EVER buy a whole chicken of ANY size, that stupid 'hen in a pumpkin' dish haunts my mind. I have a whole chicken in my freezer right now, and i see pumpkins in every store now. This dish is TAUNTING me
Try it for fun. :D
Maybe yours would be better!
Or it would be an interesting Halloween thing, idk how...
Hey, pumpkin soup is a thing. Try stewing your hen, making a creamy soup with the broth, and then buy two of the pie pumpkins. Roast one, scoop the flesh, and blend it into the soup. Make sure it's super concentrated too. Pour the soup into the second pumpkin, pick the meat from the hen, and mix it in, maybe add some squash dumplings as well. Then roast the whole pumpkin together with the soup until the pumpkin flesh is tender. The liquid from the pumpkin will thin down the concentrated, creamy soup and a long cooking time lets the flavors blend. Serve the whole thing at a party or just for the family. A really fun presentation and a lot of good texture and flavor.
@@pensandshakers gourd soups are god-tier
@@sulffffffur Absolutely agree. Gonna make pumpkin soup when pie pumpkins are back in season first thing.
You put protein in a FREEZER?!?!!!?!
Gordon would be losing his marbles :)
I still find it hilarious how Melinda was clearly trying to essentially seduce Gordon during her signature dish review.
He's already married Mel.
Also, when she got eliminated she said "I am really disappointed. I really was looking forward to spending more time with Chef Ramsay. Chef Gordon Ramsay, I'd love to make you a four-course dinner and you can see exactly what kind of talent I have."
She thinks she can seduce Chef Ramsay with those creepy eyes?

@@margarethmichelina5146 creep!
Some basic rules for the signature dish challenge:
-Don’t serve frozen/canned/pre-packaged food EVER
-Don’t make too complicated or unique a dish unless you KNOW you’ll execute it well.
-Don’t make spicy food as your signature dish. Ramsay doesn’t do well with super-spicy stuff (as shown here and on his Hot Ones video)
-Don’t argue with him when he says he doesn’t care for your dish!
-Don’t make too simplistic of a dish, unless you’re going to find some way to elevate it or make it unique beyond the basic dish.
Any others I’ve missed!
he really hates stuff that's too sweet. Seth's dish, Colleen's sugar risotto later that season, as well as that one Kitchen Nightmares ep with the balsamic salmon and Sommer from HK S21 got a 1 out of 5 for an overly sweet dish
But Other Than That They Can Do Whatever They Want
Don't make Gordon Ramsay vomit or have diarrhea
Always make sure to clean the food properly before cooking. Like in season 20, ya dont want to leave the crap bits in crustacean or fish.
@@davidfearis7335 I think that's a given

@@alejandroarroyo5124are you trying to devil's advocate your way to saying that pancakes are basically omelettes???
The one thing that's still annoys me about signature dish is that after so many seasons people are still using can Frozen items
At this point I think the producers put canned food in the pantry just to see which of the chefs are willing to cut corners!
On they bright side, atleast their honest. Especially Rock, who seemed abit ashamed of himself for serving frozen gnocchi
This criticism from Ramsay makes no sense as his own restaurants use prepacked and prepared foods. He acts like they served him a TV Dinner.
@@Clay3613you're missing the point, if you cant cook from scratch whats the point. youre letting one of the top chefs in the world see what you can do, and someone else does half the work. Its not that the food tastes bad, its that its not a measure of your talent as a cook.
@@oshwaflz One of the issues here is if your signature dish is a pasta dish.
You have 40 minutes to make the signature dish, and pasta needs to rest in the fridge a minimum of 30 minutes. It really needs at least an hour.
So at best, to serve a moderatly decent pasta, that leaves you with 10 minutes to make the dough, then roll out the dough, then cut the pasta, then cook the pasta, then assemble the saute.
Knowing this, I can't believe HK doesn't have some pasta dough resting in the fridge for the chefs to roll out & cut. Same with like pizza dough, bread dough, filo, etc.
So, I could accept using a store-bought base, especially in a pasta. Because there the techniques involved in making a really good pasta go well beyond the pasta itself. Was the water properly salted. Is the pasta cooked al dente. Was the cooking water used in the sauce. Is there too much sauce, or is it too runny. Are the other ingredients balanced. Was the protein seared properly. How was the protein integrated. Was the fond used with a good deglaze. Are the herb portions well balanced to enhance rather than overpower. Is it just the right amount of heat to open the sinuses enhancing the flavor, but not overpower the dish. Was there an option to choose pecorino romano or parmesean, and if so, did you choose the right one for the pasta.
I do a lot of cooking, and I can tell you from a technique standpoint, it's far easier to reverse sear a steak, make a pan sauce, and knock out some good veg than it is to make a good pasta.
That being said, I don't think these bozos made a good pasta AT ALL.
"If he didn't care, he wouldn't bust my chops"
Even though Tom was a horrible chef, ngl, that quote runs deep.
I have a theory that sometimes the contestants purposely make bad dishes so that they can impress people more by what they can really do later on. Sort of like making them look like someone to underestimate only to show they're a real competitor. Not only does starting off with a poor dish make for entertainment as, let's face it, a lot of people watch the terrible dishes and like seeing Ramsay's reactions to them, but that entertainment might make them feel like they would be more likely to stay on longer if they go from bad to amazing.
I mean I can see that, but that is a gamble if they screw up the first dinner service.
In car racing they call that sandbagging. You hold back in the preliminaries to trick people into thinking your car is slower and less powerful than it really is.
Rock definitely did that
@@JoppingBen10Fan Petrozza was kind of that way also.

Hen in a Pumpkin is by far the best signature dish in this video. Petrozza was such a nice guy in that season. RIP
He was a genuine good guy.
When did he pass away? He had a great attitude and sense of humor 😢
@@mommyshark1124 a couple of years ago. I believe it was from cancer.
I said this in another video on this channel, but I often say the signature dish challenge is rarely, if ever, a tell-all of how someone will do on the show. There have been some phenomenal signature dishes from people who end up as early outs. And then there are some atrocious signature dishes from people who’d either make the Black Jackets or win the season. While it is fun to get a first glimpse of the chefs from this challenge, I wouldn’t use it as a litmus test for how they’ll do.
Carolann from season 1, and Tiffany from season 3 are prime examples of first boots after having phenomenal signature dishes.
I think it’s more a way for Gordon to see who he’s dealing with. Are the egotistical? Open to criticism? Are they bold? Reserved? Do they take short cuts? Do they know their own limits (in this case time)? Etc etc
@@pucamisc Agreed. In a way this is the Chef's way of an interview. Prepare me something and present it to me.
Also let's be honest, it is very convenient for us the viewers to get to know everyone quickly. That's also important in term of TV (though sometimes it takes more place than it should)
I actually noticed, ever since Season 14 when Meghan got the perfect 5 on Signature Dish, we all know that this person's gonna win the season or going further when they got 4 or 5 on their Signature Dishes. Meanwhile, if the person got 1, they're going to be eliminated earlier.
Other than the season 14 girls, who almost went in order of how their signature dishes went. Other than Allison who got the only 3 and she beat two people that had 4's. The two 5's made the finals and the three 1's were the first ones out.
Legend has it we still don’t know what Amanda was doing for those 42 minutes.
Dishonorable Mentions are as follows:
Danny in S5: Mahi Gone Bananas
Joseph in S6: Dish wasn't that bad, but a solid prequel to the most iconic moment in HK history.
Andrew in S7: Bland steak tartar, becoming branded HK's Hannibal Lecter
Nilka in S7: Used half a bottle of tabasco sauce for her chicken wings.
Dan in S11: Eggs Benedict that'd make Julia Childs turn in her grave
Sebastian in S11: Shrimp and Salmon Corndogs...I hate seafood, but even people I know who do like it, think that sounds disgusting.
Frank in S13: Bone marrow
Mieka in S14: "It isn't half bad...it's all bad." That insult is straight-up Statler and Waldorf-territory.
Side note: Curtis might be the luckiest person in HK history, since I don't think he had to taste Antonia's signature dish, it looked like it only got passed around to the chefs still in line.
Too bad Curtis was blindsided over Raj
Only half a bottle of Tabasco from Nilka? I don't know if I would sin her for not using more Tabasco or for thinking Tabasco by itself would be acceptable in the first place. For fuck sake throw some ghost pepper in there and maybe a bit of garlic.

It makes sense why Gordon is so particular and strict about food. I’ve eaten at Hell’s Kitchen in Vegas and Ramsey burger and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The beef Wellington was beyond amazing and so was the Mac and cheese.
I’m surprised the Suzanne’s dish from season 6 wasn’t on the list. She made a risotto, claiming that her food is ‘perfect’, but when Chef Ramsey told her that the rice is very undercut she had the gall to argue with him that it wasn’t. She refused to believe that her dish had anything wrong with it

I think a reason why people still use canned food for signature dishes is because the first person to do that was Rock and he ended up winning so they must've thought that if I use packaged foos I'll win to
When Chef Ramsay spat out the "exotic tartare," I got an advertisement saying "Food is a nourishment." Holy smokes.
I always wonder if anyone from season 2 onward even watched previous seasons before joining in.
They always seem so surprised when they say "it's frozen" and Gordon instantly bashes them for using premade products, along with other things during the actual competition.

Absolutely wonderful, you're gonna make it to the black jackets for sure
Not too plugged in on HK, but from what I've seen it really stands out to me that the same person in season 3 who made one of the worst first impression you could make by serving frozen food to Ramsay as his signature dish went on to win the whole thing.
EDIT: And, as mentioned, a similarly terrible first showing from La Tasha.
Fun fact:
When he talked about Kenneth from Season 19 who was the first one got eliminated, you can see that he got paired with Kori, the winner of that season.

S1's signature dish tasting deserves to be talked about more. Every single chef got shut down so hard that one woman almost fainted. Only one chef got a good rating, and she was kicked out after the first service. One chef tried to joke with Ramsay, saying "If I knew you were coming, I would have made lobster :)." Ramsay looked her dead in the eye, said, "you knew I was coming," then spit out her dish and insulted her.
That's... completely wrong? Wendy was praised for her dish, she wasn't the first boot either. Elsie also got complemented despite panicking. Stop spreading wrong information 🤭
@@kinjapleb4228 nuh uh
@Michael Tracy well sure, keep being stupid lol
@@kinjapleb4228 Yeah, open mouth insert foot, dude. Carolann's chicken parmesan received praise, while Elsie's turkey tacos were deemed "not bad" despite its underwhelming concept. All other dishes were poorly received: Ramsay spat out Andrew's "Absolute Penne", calling it "absolute dogshit", found Mary Ellen's endive dish boring, and Wendy's fried rice unimpressive. Ramsay also spat out Jimmy's stuffed chicken after finding it overcooked outside and raw inside, calling it a "dehydrated camel's turd", and hated Ralph's seared rare tuna and sesame noodles. Dewberry's baked spaghetti was overcooked, Chris's cedar-roasted salmon was raw, Jeff's steak was overcooked despite having a good sauce, Jessica's shelled crabs were seasoned with a spicy aioli that was too hot, and Ramsay found Michael's scallops "disgusting". Carolann was booted on the first service.
Wow you really just made stuff up huh
i wonder what ramsey would say with my drunken noodles. egg, spam, ramen, tony chacheres creole seasoning, cheese and a stick of butter
A bigger no no would have been to just microwave the frozen food lol. Anyone that's watched Kitchen Nightmares would know those are the two things you never do.
Something I find interesting about S14s challenge was the blue team never had a bad dish with everyone getting 3s and 4s. While, the red team got 2 5s from Meghan and T, they also had 3 1s from Crissa/Monique/Mieka who cost them the challenge.
Another fact:
-The ladies who got 1 got eliminated earlier in Red Team
-Allison who got 3 made it far than Sarah and Christine who got 4
Every time I see S15 i'm always reminded that Hassan was robbed
*H A R D* that run. He was a good chef, an amazing leader, and didnt have any bad services so he was almost guaranteed a spot in the Black Jackets, until he was moved to the red team. I understand why Ramsay swapped him to the red team (considering by that point the red team only had 1 or 2 completed services, one of those being because the blue team helped them out) but god did that team screw him over hard, and it led to his worst service that got him kicked off.
I respect Guy for admitting he messed up, at least he cared enough to own up to it.
I hate how they have live audiences in the later seasons. They just fake laugh and gasp whenever Gordon says anything. Its super annoying.
"If he didn't care, he wouldn't bust my chops" that summarizes why Gordon dose what he does. I love that quote
"Does it normally look like a plate of liquid shit??" always gets me 😆
"If he didn't care, he wouldn't break my chops"
Tom's an idiot, but he ain't wrong here
I would love a Raj cooking show. It would be bizarre for sure but he has a good heart.
Monique's is particularly bad because not only has the show been around for 13 years before she was on, but she seemed shocked that she was penalized for an obvious no-no.
the "get out of here" you put at the end of every video is my reason to live
The worst signature dishes know who they are, they can speak for themselves.
A aint no bish
Amazingly, despite being the first to serve Ramsey frozen food, Rock ends up as the season winner.
I really like this format! It’s much better than top 10s
It's kind of funny; Petrozza had the second-worst signature dish, yet he went on to come in second in the competition that season. Amazing.
I love how he calls it chorizo encrusted but his "crust" looks soggy AF
Season 14 was my favorite recent season. Lmao. Especially the ginger crusted chicken. As soon as I heard "I was in the cookie aisle" I absolutely lost my control and laughed hard. Like no matter what she said next I knew that dish was a wreck.
In spite of the pumpkin, Petroza happened to be a solid competitor. Shame he passed away.
Cant believe Louis from Season 6 didn’t make the list
I mean, the man serves GALLONS of his dish every week
"Does that look like a pancake!?!?"
*nervous laughter*
To be honest, I think it looks like a bunch of vegetables on a piece of pita bread
To be one hundred percent completely fair to Raj, Ramsay said his seafood was cooked well.
Lmao
Do people not know that it is a COOKING show where you actually have to cook food from scratch not just take it out of a packet. 😂
Other honorable mentions
Jimmy from Season 1 serving a stuffed chicken that resembled a dehydrated camel turd.
Keith from Season 2 with his Cha Ching sesame crusted tuna that made Chef Ramsay stop eating with care.
Maribel from the same season who made an Argentine Plantain soup that was garlicky, hot, and looked like baby vomit.
Joanna from Season 3 with her dry chicken parm with her raspberry drink
Craig from season 4 with his jerk dish, then got clowned by Chef Ramsay about his chef hat.
Charlie from season 5 with his lamb Ferris wheel.
Season 6’s Dave with his rock hard Brussels sprouts.
Holli from season 7 with her halibut wrapped in a banana leaf
Jamie Gregorich from season 9 when she overcooked her lamb lollipops.
Season 10 when Kimmie served Fisherman’s trio.
Joy from season 12 whose dish resembled runny and cold scrambled eggs with someone’s vomit on the bottom.
Janai’s dish from season 13
That’s all I have right now.
XD Brussels sprouts as your main dish sounds funny and delicious
