The Swansea Conference and exhibition is coming up really soon, Wednesday the 29th of March at Swansea Arena, in partnership with Swansea Council and sponsored by Swansea University. It's going to be a brilliant day for Swansea and everyone is invited!
The doors to the main exhibition open at 11:00 AM. The Swansea exhibition will feature over 120 exhibition stands, showcasing local businesses and community organisations all doing great stuff for our city and keen to connect.
Interactive exhibitions from the universities, Oriel Science, and Plantasia, alongside opportunities to meet local companies, from well-known bars and hotels to exciting niche enterprises. Find out about local job opportunities, meet new suppliers, pick up lots of free goodies, and feel proud of the people and organisations that make Swansea great.
The conference is taking place throughout the day on the main auditorium stage, and the doors to the conference open at 8:45 in the morning. The conference kicks off with a Regeneration Update from 9:30 AM. The leader of Swansea Council together with major partners from across the city will be providing a regeneration update about all the exciting development projects currently underway and coming soon.
There's no better opportunity to gain an overview of all the fantastic stuff that's happening across the county, including news of the successful Leveling Up bid that will see significant investments in the Lower Swansea Valley and an update from Urban Splash, the development partner on the Seafront and other strategic sites across the city.
At 2pm we have a panel discussion and audience Q&A about supporting local food and drink, for the wellbeing of our local economy and our environment. Hear about the launch of Swansea's Food Charter, which aims to get everyone working together to make healthy, local and affordable food available to all.
Meet Lucy Hole of Secret Hospitality, the group that's just taken over Verdis and the former Castellemare restaurant. Hear about the struggles and the ambition of Swansea's local farmers from Louisa of Paviland Farm on Gower, and come together with others who care about our local food system, including Sathia from Graft Community Garden, and Jack Joseph from Swansea Council and FarmCo.
At 4pm, we have another panel discussion and audience Q&A, this time about supporting local Arts and Culture. Let's talk about Swansea's vibrant arts and cultural sector, hosted by Professor Ian Walsh of University of Wales Trinity Saint David. Hear from Tracy McNulty about Swansea Council's efforts to put culture and creativity at the heart of Swansea's regeneration. Meet local musician Ify Iwobi and hear about how Swansea's diverse communities are contributing to arts and culture in the city. And hear from Dan Staveley, the man behind the Elysium artist galleries and studios about what's needed to support local artists to thrive in Swansea.
Then at 6pm come along after work to join the last panel discussion and audience Q&A of the day, all about supporting Swansea's fantastic independent retailers, hosted by Russell Greenslade of Swansea bid. It's not easy to run a successful small shop in these times of internet shopping and out of town retail, but local heroes continue to make the effort to put something different on our high streets! Hear from Christos, owner of Derricks, about how Wales' oldest independent music shop has stayed relevant.
Hear about how Goose Island has developed a thriving wholesale business alongside its high street shops, and hear about a new generation of Swansea entrepreneurs with new businesses in the city centre.
Please don't miss this fantastic event for Swansea taking place at Swansea Arena all day on Wednesday the 29th of March.
