Awesome Justin! Make videos too! People like watching your progress and I have enjoyed going back and seeing what I’ve done in previous videos. Good memories! Get after it bro!
I have a two tone green 73' F100. I love the colors on your truck. Mine has solid dark green on the top half and a metallic green on the bottom. I have never been a fan of the metallic so I might go with a very light solid green there. Thanks for posting this video. Very inspirational.
Thanks for your comments! The greens on your truck sound beautiful! My red and white were 100% factory, but it was labeled a “Custom” by Ford. My Dad bought it new in 74 and gave it to me in 1994 while I was in High School. It was rough, as he’d used it as a work truck in his carpentry and construction business. We built it back and I used it though high school and part of college when a crash ended it for me. Years later, after watching it sit in my back yard, I decided it was time for a revival! It’s been a low-budget, DIY sort of build, which isn’t perfect by any means! But she’s mine and I’ve enjoyed getting it back on the road.
You are doing a great job on this project and a beautiful truck. RUclips has become my go to source for information for and work I may need to do on mine. I don't know what I would do without this kind of platform!
Looks great thanks, I have a 78 f100 ranger hope I can get it like this, I have rust spots on the door and hood if you have pointers would be appreciated.
Post a video of the rust - the guys on here can give good advice. My advice would be to cut out the rust and replace with clean sheet metal. Rust is hard to stop. If it’s just some surface putting, there are rust inhibitor products from Eastwood company that work pretty good. Still, replacing with new/or old clean metal is best. Be patient welding so it doesn’t get too hot and warp. Been there, done that.
I have 2 77, 78 and a 79. The 79 is almost finished. They have a jute product that goes behind that door panel, that help stop any kind of rattle and some road noise. Before I put the window regulator window and trim in I used a can of bed liner sprayed the interior panel of the door, you don't hear that sheet metal sound when closing the door now.
www.npdlink.com/product/insulation-panel-door-panel-jute-material/143183. I have two panels with the original still on it. But it seems I can't post a picture of it.
Hey, what’s up Steven! Actually, my trim was all in good shape already, except for a divider for the 2-tone paint that wraps around the back of the cab, and of course the drip rail trim. I bought the “wrap around” trim from LMCTruck.com and was pleased with it. All the clips as well. I purchased the drip rail trim also from LMC and it was pure garbage. While the wrap around trim was high gloss, the drip rails were so “not glossy” that they were almost like a brushed finish. Didn’t match at all. The reality too was that it was paper thin, one was bent when I got it, and the other would bend just with me pressing with my thumb to pop it in place. I ended up finding an old truck my cousin had and got his trim and put that LMC trim on his truck. He didn’t care as it’s sitting out in the woods. Haha! The drip rail trim was hard to get off and I had to spend a lot of time straightening it. It polished well, but it’s not perfect. LMC has all the trim pieces that you can buy. I’ve never bought the side trim so I can’t vouch for it. Good luck though, whatever you decide to do!
I have a 79 f100 and I cant get the doors to latch fully unless I slam it. the alignment looks fine so Im wondering if its the striker thing thats the issue? and if that is, how would one find the part and replace it? Thanks!
Hey Michael - I believe you can find all door parts at LMC Truck (lmctruck.com) or from Dennis Carpenter. I’ve not replaced mine with any repops, but I’m dealing with the same issue you have. My driver’s door closes good without having to slam it. My passenger side requires a HARD slam. All alignment is good, too. I may end up having to replace it. Also, make sure your weather stripping isn’t sticking out too far or the door sill on the bottom is in the right place. Those things can make it hard to get the door closed without slamming. One of the next things I plan to do is replace my weather stripping, although I doubt it will correct it.
Typically when that happens the bushing is gone on the door strike. You can buy the bushing alone, but buy the entire door strike and that will probably fix the problem. Another place to find Ford parts is from C&G Ford parts. Excellent customer service.
williamtunnell My dad was fiddling with it a while back and turns out all i really needed on one side was to loosen the striker and move it a little, now it shuts nice and easy. The other sides still annoying but slightly better now. haven’t bothered with replacing yet because i dont have passengers too often. I appreciate both of you guys’ feedback though, so thanks. Ill keep it in mind for when it starts to get on my nerves lol
Let me tell you my experience on that, i bought New seals for mine and they are doing a good job no air noise occurs inside the cab no more! But when I go over 120 mph you can hear a little bit of noise through the seals. I think it's normal because nobody wants to go more than 100.
Lowe’s. Nothing special - just get Aluminum so they won’t rust. Just make sure the head is long enough to go through the sheet metal as well as the clip.
Do you know how to fix broken corners on the door? I know you mentioned that your’s had a remake on it. Mine are a little broken and I’d like to avoid buying a whole new door panel.
Sorry - I checked it on my end and it seems to be fine. Once I upload them, that’s all she wrote! I can’t do anything more to them. Ha! Thanks for writing.
Everybody talks about a mobile workbench but this man has the most mobile and versatile workbench ( his doubles as a lawnmower )
Haha!! Use what ya got!
Haha!! Use what ya got!
The screws holding the door panel on turn out way better than I thought, nice work
Yeah, I hated to do that but all my clips were broken. A critical eye would see them but most folks won’t. Thanks for watching and complimenting.
I love old ford trucks. My first car was a F150 no computer no efi. Simple to work on. Looking for one to work on now thanks to your video.

Looks great man!
Thank you brother!
Looks great. Merry Christmas
Truck looks awesome. Nice job!
Nice truck
Thanks Jason!
It's called the dust boot. Nice truck.
Very lite coats and let dry between. Patience is the key. Keep the can moving fast and 1 directions

Awesome! I do need to do more with my doors to cut down on that bang. Where’s you get that jute product?

Great! Thanks for the link. I appreciate that!
The under coating is a great way and you can also get a sound insulation from Amazon, Thermo-Tec 14620 to add as well.
Great video!
Thanks brother!
Hey, I'm looking at restoring a 1977 f-100. I would love to get some advice from you if possible. Thanks!
You bet! Just write.
Can you please explain how to install the rear back belt trim i can not find a video.
Ok the back of the cab?
I’m currently looking for headliner for my 74 Ford F-250 supercab do you know where to look that will fit the supercab?
A quick search of LMC Truck and Dennis Carpenter revealed NOTHING! That may be one that you have to get made at an upholstery shop
Nice job my man! I just picked up a 74 f100 about six months ago….Where did you get the side trim from?

I could use that cab for my 74 wrecker
How did the seals do with wind noise on the highway?
Let me tell you my experience on that, i bought New seals for mine and they are doing a good job no air noise occurs inside the cab no more! But when I go over 120 mph you can hear a little bit of noise through the seals. I think it's normal because nobody wants to go more than 100.
I have my truck almost done, but idk where to get the rivots for the trim clips. Do you know where I can get those?

Not sure what you mean by broken, but basically anything can be repaired if you can cut and weld.
Where in Alabama do you live? I have a 1974 f350 i am wanting to restore.
Hey Todd, Merry Christmas. We live about 45 mins south of Birmingham.
cant hear you in half the video
