Might be my favorite piece from this whole score. That is saying an awful lot. The entire thing is a part of my soul, that is how deeply I love Sakamoto's music and this score in particular... but the main motif in this piece has always stunned me into tears from the first time I heard it, over 40 years ago.
Been humming this song since I was a kid. From this movie, besides Rain which I found early on, this was the one I could never find that always longed to hear back again all these years since not even a name was mentioned in the OST list.

oddly enough, this piece is actually not easy to find
ムソルグスキー「展覧会の絵」と、プロコフィエフの平易でわずかにオリエンタルな「ウラル狂詩曲」みたい。レスピーギみたいな音も混ざっている。うまく作ってある。
+ストラビンスキーのプルチネルラ的ニュアンスもありますね。
伊福部と甘粕のエピソード、知りませんでした。勉強になります。
