You've given the best review on this boat. I originally ordered my Hoodoo Tempest 120. But as I researched, just to much boat for me. At 5ft 7 152, I can walk all over my impulse, and plenty of storage for all my fishing gear, or an overnight trip.I had already read all good on the tempest. But I really wanted a fin drive, a motor ready stern, a hand rudder, and more open deck. Right now I run my J2 Bixpy, with a spare battery and love to cover water in this boat, in radiant citrus. My tempest was gone in one day. It was an awsome kayak. All Hoodoo gives you, to get you started, is a huge budget savings, which allowed me to add all my electronics, accessories, and I'm still making her my own. 😎 🙏 🎣

When fishing in shallow waters where you can no longer use propellers. Does the propeller lift up or do you remove the whole thing?

I ordered this kayak late last summer and only had the change to take it out 2 times. I am pretty possitive I had everything set up correctly. I run it with the pedal prop system but run into a huge issue. When I pedal the propeller hits into the bottom of the kayak which 1st will cause some damage and 2nd makes a horribly load thumping sound which the fish would not like. Would you have any ideas to what could cause this?

Is it possible to replace the drive with a Hobie 180 drive?

We have not tried this modification ourselves yet. Let us check to see if it is possible and we will respond back to you once we have more information.

So we have verified that it is likely possible with some modifications to the kayak, however you should be careful as modifications will void any hull warranty. We cannot speak directly to the needed modifications until we see the 180 drive and have a chance to compare the drive systems and housing. Hope this helps some.
