To say something about the bad comments here, Yngwie is the king of improvisation, i saw a lot of good guitarists on Hellfest like the guys from Stratovarius, Rhapsody but eveything they did was figured out. Yngwie improvised which is not common nowadays and that's why there are some patterns which can sound familiar. And i can tell you Yngwie play with passion and sincerity. When i see a lot of imitators, in facts they copy his technics but they don't have his passion.
What is worth mentioning also is when Yngwie improvise he do this using phrases, not notes. Which was very common in classical music and described well in books like those written by Fedele Fenarolli in XVIII century. Most of times when more popular band guitarist improvise is when they screw and try to get back on track, which often sounds hideous.
The most impressive thing to me about Yngwie is that there weren’t any/many trailblazers before him to lead the way and give him a blueprint. He basically just had to have total faith that his thousands of hours of practice would pay off someday. Today, we guitarists have nearly unlimited resources of the greats who came before us
Yes... for the era of electric guitars. Speed and virtuosos were always a thing in music. Paganini speed and acuracy was always a legend among musicians and many have been made on that field. Centuries before YM
He's so amazing and hats off to his style that he created way back when he first played at the Roxy in the band Steeler. We were all there, Ronnie and I with the Rough Cutt guys and our Jaws just hit the floor as my hands crept up into my elbows! But how one man can get away with the same solo over and over again after all these years is astounding. He opened up for us when Ronnie was still with us and I guess he's so difficult to work with his singer quit just before the tour and Yngwie sang. He actually did a great job. And whenever I grit my teeth and try and watch a whole set of his....it's just the same thing.....always ending on that same high note and up and down the neck and back up to that high note.....over and over! I don't get it! But God Bless Him cause he is trying to be nicer! It was funny, the Dio Disciples opened up for him for an outdoor festival. During sound check he just soloed non stop. I had to ask him if I could at least check and see if my equipment was working. He said "Of course Craig".....thought that was nice to remember my name. And as I was checking my equipment.....he just continued to solo over me the entire line check. Ha ha!! Oh well.....like I said....God Bless Him! He is a one-of-a-kind! And as many have taken his style as their own, they only end up sounding like Yngwie!! And that is quite an accomplishment all its own!!
Mr Goldy, as you recognize, Malmsteen created a style. I would just add that, in addition to a new style, Malmsteen also composed true musical gems (Rising Force, Trilogy, Marching Out, etc.). In music, I believe that these two types of achievements are meritorious enough to justify such lasting fame. I think he did enough to be able to play just for fun and to repeat improvisation patterns. By the way, Mr Goldy, I admire a lot of your work too. You and Malmsteen are among my favorites. thank you for everything!
@@RogerioMOFilho Awww! Thank you! Yes, what you added definitely I forgot to put in my comment! I agree wholeheartedly with you Brother! And thank you for the kind words!
Players like Eddie, SRV, Randy, and Yngwie created a whole different atttitude and approach to playing because they were so mind bendingly good and different at the time. They are why people like Paul Gilbert, Jason Becker, myself and loads of others who were teenagers at the time practiced more that we slept. Heck, more than we did anything. Before this, guitar wasn't taken as seriously. It just wasn't. No one was woodshedding to Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Sabbath, or even Deep Purple. People played and if they were inherantly good enough it maybe translated to the top if they were lucky, but they didn't lock themselves in their bedrooms for essentially years like they did once VH1, Blizzard of Oz, Texas Flood, Steeler's Hot on Your Heels, or eventually Rising Force came out. These guys basically turned it into serious sport, and if you couldn't keep up you were toast. Can't play eruption? This guy can, so you're out. The late 70's through the 80's was the apex of competitive guitar playing. Shredders and virtuoso's on every corner. Right Craig? You were there. It was a paradigm shift. No one is really creating new roads, setting new bars, or pushing the envelope in new ways anymore. Some great players, but none of them set themselves that far apart from their peers. Criticize Yngwie now if you want, but nobody has come along since to knock him off his rightful throne. That's what should bother people. Not that Yngwie hasn't changed. Why should he? For you? Nothing but plagarism and uncreative clones now because when you've had years to listen to, ingest, and copy something, it's not that hard to replicate. Probably an app for it now. Nothing unique now though. Just ask all the youtubers out there who can only try to simulate these guitarists for clicks. I don't blame them much. No sense in wasting years to be unique anymore. No money in it anymore anyway. Again...right Craig?
Such beautiful music so lucky to be alive in the malmsteen era always remember my friends reaction to the primer of the Ill see the light video-- total blank stare he said what the fuck was that- total disbelief --
Amazing video, and his playing is as amazing as his painted eyebrows! Lol! Thanks for posting this, but next time turn your phone sideways. That way you can see the entire stage. 😉 But you did a damn good job of keeping him in the frame, and he’s on fire as you’re doing it! Catching great emotions in his face!
He's closer to jazz, shich means he's closer to true classical and metal than anyone. Alexi was the same, improvising all the time. Influenced by classical... love u all

Although not my favorite style, I have to admit it's impressive, indeed. I prefer slower ones, like, for example, what Captain Sensible did in the song "Under the floor again".

Il est incroyable
On ne s'en lasse pas !! 👍
Четкое trilogy🎉
His vibrato and tone !!!
Hard to knock anyone who can play like that even if it's not everyones cup of tea
Yngwie really loves what he's doing, doesn't care about the critics, and never will. It will always be full speed ahead. Take it or leave it.
😮 amazing as always !😮
I love angry bee music!
That’s The Thing!!

The real bad ass
I never knew Jackie Stallone was such a good guitarist.
I thought it was Johnnie Depp at first . But then I heard him play and he was so bad Depp probably wouldn’t even let him tune his guitar .

He is still unbelievable.
He play very fast and clear.
It sounds like he’s doing the music for a musical !!!!!!!
For sure ur right
Yngwie is Yngwie spritze classe❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The fact hes been at this for so many decades is incredible to me., most big hair died, but he survived the long haul

Sounding way better live lately.

When does the song start?
It's a symphony.
I heard paganini's 5th capricce, wow!
L'éjucaleur precoce de la guit.
So he's using JVMs now? With a festival this big, I thought he would bring all amps from his personal collection.

I love the man's playing, but I have to ask: why do all the 80s metal icon look like low-budget 80s vampires now?
Alcatraz live sentence.. yngwie was only like 17, 18, or 19.. everyone else in the band was much older... and he crushed it.
I’ve truly tried to listen, and like this…but I gotta say it “hot garbage”
I wouldn’t pay $10 to hear this live, sorry🤷♂️
His eyebrow
So funny
Or ridiculous
😂
He looks like Michael Jackson
But the way he tortured the guitar was still amazed me until now.. Its getting worse.. I salute this guy... He is amazing
Tabs please .
Yngwies lost weight.
Wonder how the tabs looks like for this piece?
Like 600 pages if you want to print them out.
Der ist einer der besten Gitarren Götter ! Leider total überproduziert und keine Hits. Schade ! Paganini auf Gitarre ist er trotzdem .👍💥
He only plays the high e and b string

Dude, what's with the Carot Top inspired eyebrows. Weird.
Damn. I feel even shittier as a guitarist now
I wonder if there is donuts in the green room
What can I say… love the botox and make up.
It just begins to sound like the same thing over and over. Woodlie woodlie woodlie wah
He improvised
My advice is... Shave your face Yngwie, you'll look years younger without the Sideburns!
He wants to look like Nicolo Paganini with the sideburns
karisma....
c'est pas un humain ce mec..
He is aging well. His ego is massive though
