Very nice! In keeping w/ this theme, you might do some videos on the slide rule. The abacus/counting frame teaches the importance of place value while slide rules teach logarithmic functions. The Apollo astronauts took slide rules to the moon! There’s just something about the tactile aspect of these devices that connects you with the problem you are trying to solve.
Hi, Joe Thank you so much for so interesting video. I just bought this SOROBAN right now from Ebay (USA). unfortunately I live in Europe and I paid 44$!!!!! shipment included, of course! Well, I have a soroban but as you said, sorobans seems to be made just for the little hands of children. I'm a big size guy and I was looking for something bigger, a XXXL soroban! ;-) One more thing, I agree completely with you, 10 rows could be enough for a normal use of add and substract.
