Fun EGS story. Remnant: From the Ashes had an update about 2 weeks ago, just after it stopped being a free game. On Steam, the update was around 900 mbs. On EGS, you had to redownload the whole game, which was nearly 40 gbs. People from Gunfire Games had to come out and tell people this wasn't on their end, it was an Epic issue. I went and got the complete version on Steam after that, only partially regretting the $40 dump, which I could have used for Control.
the earliest one was so nice, nice and responsive. I love it when you play an old game and it still boots up the legacy storefront, like LBP or something
Interesting work around (security flaw?) I discovered about the epic Games launcher. The Microsoft store is just so awful. It looks bad, no consistency in design from area to area, your library is a hidden tab, I've had many time where things just disappear from the library list (not that I can't use them anymore just no longer on the installed list), there is no way to uninstall games/apps within the store, why are free games in the best selling category? The store is so bad, that they made an Xbox app for their games, and even that doesn't work all the time (in my experience).
Wish I knew about that dos method to delete folders the Microsoft store kept on my computer and would not delete. I moved everything I needed on an external harddrive and formated the harddrive with all the Microsoft crap to get rid of it.
I have my PS3 connected to me elgato HD60 and bought an HDMI splitter just last year and I have no trouble with connecting and recording anything on it. After hearing so many people say it's such a pain in the ass I was expecting to have to go through some bullshit but it was easy.

Dude, I STILL hate the fact that they buried the absolute shit out the PS2 classics on the PSN store. Because just having a goddamn tab for it is too much, but please give me 3 different tabs trying to sell PS Now to me.
Let none of this distract you from the fact EGS still doesn't have a shopping cart, user reviews, or gifting. Nearly two years in since its launch. You think they'd focus that Fortnite money into development for basic features.
I remember when I first installed the Epic game store to get enter the gungeon for free that month. The official website installer wouldn't work. I'm not even talking crashing during install or missing some .dll file, the .exe wouldn't DO ANYTHING, I had to manually type in an older version of it on google and download it from softonic or whatever the name was, the installer distributor full of adware, to actually get a version of the store that would fucking install itself, update and let me browse
See now what you actually want to do is go through a browser on your PC, log in to your ps account from there, make sure the ps3 you want the game on is marked as primary device and then remotely start the download through your purchased page on the website
The Microsoft Store is so bad that years ago when I tried to get Killer Instinct it wouldn't even let me log into the store because it couldn't imagine that I changed passwords between Windows 8/10. If everything else hadn't killed my interest in KI then that for sure did.
What turned me off on it was that even though it was cross save, I had to rerank and all that stuff before I could play proper people again(just placement matches, but still.) Also, that version was busted on my setup and never worked right in gameplay even though I met above recommended specs and the benchmark option always rated me well all because of the automatic and unstoppable windowed full screen the game had.
Pro tip if you want to download stuff nowadays from the store for a PS3, buy it and set it up to download from the store in a browser, once you sign up on your ps3, the game will start downloading without having to acces to the store.
I think what's most baffling about the epic games store is that they still don't have basic features like achievements. Which doesn't seem like a big deal until you play a game that has challenges in the fort of achievements. I bought a copy of prey on steam when I realized my free copy on epic did not have achievements
my last experience with an undeleteable folder was back in 486 Windows 3.1 days, when i somehow managed to rename my Myst install folder some bullshit with untypeable characters in it (i *think* through the save/load game interface?) and then the whole OS just couldn't do anything with that directory or anything in it, ever again, without shitting itself and crashing. cost me like 20MB off a 512MB hard drive. still got that computer somewhere; i oughtta dig it out and see if i can figure out how to fix that now that google exists.
Epic is good for free games, I don't give them much credit beyond that. Like, the company is a crunch-culture-infested pack of exploitative dickbags. While I appreciate that the exclusivity deal is the only way to have any serious competition given Steam's deeply embedded network externalities, and I think it's actually a pretty decent deal for indies that are a bit tight on cash, I don't have to *like* it. On top of that, they churn through employees like a teenage boy through Kleenex boxes, intentionally abusing and draining them of any love of working on games, tossing them out before they have to pay benefits, then getting new bodies on Fortnite skin duty.
Whenever I see indie devs go epic store exclusive I think "good for them, they're gonna need it since no ones gonna be buying their fucking game until the exclusivity contracts expires."
Even then, all the free stuff, YOU become the product as you have to, at the very least give them your PC specs. And it was found out to be a bot net at like first launch. Like I could probably have a library to rival my steam library off all the free games they've given away if I jumped on early. But at the cost of willingly having a Virus installed still isn't worth it.
@@randomfox12245 Well, that's pretty much the thing for both indies and even some big companies. The only reason they go to Epic is that they cover the games entire development cost and that's about it.
Worst storefront huh.....well if we are talking about PC then I’d wager it to be Origin. If Consoles......more debatable but I’ll say.......Playstation store.....maybe.
I haven't had issues with the epic store, but I had an issue where I couldn't use my PS4 controller to play Maneater because it wasn't supported. So the solution was to add epic games store to my steam library as a non steam app. Which allowed me to use steams controller support in Maneater. It's pretty silly that I had to use steam to play an epic store game the way I wanted to.
That storefront sucks so bad. Why can't you skip ahead in a trailer? Why cant you minimize it? Cuz the compression itself kills half the trailers I used to watch on my screen so it was pointless that they would auto full-screen anyways. Whats with the unreal amount of time to just load text and pictures when I scroll down? Can't you just load that once and be done with it?
Line Error no, it’s not. The ps4’s are LITERALLY using like 70-90% of its ram all the fucking time. Even on the home screen, it’s absolutely horribly optimized
I was having the exact same issue with the Epic game store that Woolie is having. It happened twice, even after I fixed it. When Hades appeared on Steam, I immediately bought it again just so I'd be free from all that bullcrap..
This is going to sound like a bit of a stretch. I don't know if the Switch or PS4 can do this, but as a fucked up backwards ass method of capturing is streaming to your PC and using that signal. It's only delayed by like maybe half a second.
I haven't touched a video game store front in years, but the worst designed store front I have come across is by far and away Games Workshop's. I can't use the browser version of the EGS because it doesn't accepts my password for some reason even though it works on the app, since I already had an account for the Unreal Engine. Which is a similar issue I had with Skype, that wouldn't accept my e-mail login even thought it was the same account.
I love the PS3 but the store is awful and feels like it's killing the PS3. It was even worse at release. Even the PS4 version is not that great but it's not hair pulling bad. I always use the web version on my PC and I can directly download on my PS4 in rest mode, it's great. On PC though... Origin and Uplay improved a lot over the years and works now but are still not great compared to Steam. Good thing Epic "released" their own to make them look good but I hope they don't get lazy because of that.
Your descriptions of the Epic store sound like what happens when you're playing a video game where you're a robot and the game wants something bad to happen to the player character.
So.... The EGS is actually, truly a poor experience. It is shocking that they haven't put in more than just the basic requirements to get it running barely adequately. I think people are being more hyperbolic than they need to be with how bad it is, but it is bad. However, They are literally paying us to log-in to their Store every week and click a few buttons. I think my library on EGS is over 200 games, most are interesting, fun and worth playing, though old and past the point of making much money from sales. Some are FTP mobile trash. But their timed exclusives, deep discounts on new titles and free give-away marketing strategy has some effect. I have paid for 1 game on EGS, Phoenix Point. I logicked it out and figured that, it was on sale for 40% off and I got to apply a 10$ off coupon to pay less for the game now, than when the GOTY / Complete edition is released late next year and it hits Steam, for the luxury of not having to wait that long to play it. Don't exactly regret that decision... just wish that PP was a little further along in development. Which I thought it was when I purchased it. Also, the web version is the only way to get your free games sometimes. When the free game is a huge draw, like GTA or Total War Sparta, the EGS App can crash and not work... but going to the website version will usually work in short order.
Gonna have a wild take here but the excuse of indies going to Epic being "Oh, we need to take the bribe" is stupid and plainly states the quality of the game. If they *need* the bribe, then their game isn't good enough to succeed on it's own. Hell, some developers are starting to realize this and not even bothering to make the game they were paid to make, instead opting to double in on Patreon funding *and* the Epic bribe, because it's just more profitable that way.
Epic Games Store is so bad that they are giving away top free games and gets 1 year exclusivity before steam and people still prefer steam due to how better it is in everyway EGS just gets money from Fortnite, which is the only reason that store exists
The worst storefront on console is for sure PlayStation. The worst on PC is Epic, though Origin has the distinction of having terrible download speeds in my experience.
Tell Pat the Bnet launcher has a beta available now which lets you choose which games to show or hide! Finally. Fucking finally. Should have been there from the beginning, not be a beta feature offered in 2020. But it is finally a damned option.
Fucking hell, stop calling the command prompt DOS! DOS hasn't been included in Windows since Millenium Edition! It's not the same thing at all. Even back in the day, the command shell (command.com) was just a part of DOS. It was no more DOS itself than explorer.exe is Windows today.
Fun(?) Fact: I only have an iMac computer and I use the Epic Store there, granted, the selection of games available for Mac is shit and there's no way to make the store show u only those. I only use it to get the free games they give, I access them thru their pop ups when they go for free, install them immediately after download and then play them from the 'My Library' tab.
They can't pay me enough to use that shit.
"They are literally paying us," he says while talking about giving them money. If you were wondering what EGS users are like...
Dude, it's easy to strip the HDCP on a PS3 these days. Component is not needed for PS3 recording anymore.
I was just using the vita store the other day, it’s still fluid but fuck off not labeling every psp game as a psp game
The file size of CoD:MW is a fucking disgrace.
Woolie, you gotta play the PC version of Control, specially if you have an RTX, that game looks great.
The worst modern store front I can think of is the windows game store, why would I pay for Xbox love or gold or whatever the fuck for a pc game?
Epic Games Store is so bad that they are giving away top free games and gets 1 year exclusivity before steam and people still prefer steam due to how better it is in everyway
EGS just gets money from Fortnite, which is the only reason that store exists
The worst storefront on console is for sure PlayStation. The worst on PC is Epic, though Origin has the distinction of having terrible download speeds in my experience.
Tell Pat the Bnet launcher has a beta available now which lets you choose which games to show or hide! Finally. Fucking finally. Should have been there from the beginning, not be a beta feature offered in 2020. But it is finally a damned option.
What is sync delay?
Xbox One just became best HDMI splitter.
so are these guys nutts or me? i took me maybe 2 minutes to get hitman off of the epic store before it got it's freebie sale.
PSP had a Store too
Why not post the full podcast on yourtube?
Multiplayer Samsho collection is an actually joke
Battlenet at least pre-dates steam
pc gaming is retarded
Does Pat call it the Vitta just to see who gets triggered in the comments??
So it's ok to pay the evil monopoly company of last week when you want to make videos about it
Fucking hell, stop calling the command prompt DOS! DOS hasn't been included in Windows since Millenium Edition!
It's not the same thing at all. Even back in the day, the command shell (command.com) was just a part of DOS. It was no more DOS itself than explorer.exe is Windows today.
I just use the PS store from the pc.
I've never had a problem with it :3
Did Pat manage to not get peed on this week?
Never heard them talk about this before
Relatable content is for cowards. The more inside-baseball, the better.
no pat the microsoft store is worst because they want gamepass to be their console and shit like the seris x to just be a phone
like how Andriod has different phones or apple
The Blacks aren't as deep .
Pat 2020
Oh wow cool first I guess never thought this would happen.
Why does woolie sound so disinterested and tired in these?
