I would regularly have battles with my stuffed animals between the dog and cat kingdoms. The teddy bear kingdom had a civil war over who they should support, and ended up becoming two nations, the cat bears and the dog bears (lore was deep, naming conventions were not so). Much stuffing was shed, many lives were lost.

Most of this was Operation: Sunburst or The Battle of Helios One, where the NCR made a decisive victory over The Brotherhood of Steel. The power plant was a sensitive target that would require infantry advance rather than artillery bombardment. The NCR outnumbered the Brotherhood with a factor of 15 to 1. Their seemingly foolish charge into the Brotherhood’s fortified position was one of many, draining the Brotherhood's resources. This was a tactical maneuver that allowed the NCR sniper regiment to advance on the enemy's flanks forcing the knights to break defensive formation.
Ah yes victory! The kind where you loose so many troops it's almost a masacre.
The well known pyrrhic victory
Just so people stop answering: I do not care, I wasn't making a valid argument here, I just wanted to laugh at the NCR because I do not like them

The insane thing about seeing the bodies pile up at Helios One is... The NCR won. One Paladin can tear through dozens of troops, but they had thousands to spare. The scale is... painful. The reality of it, when they aren't just numbers.
Makes me wish Bethesda would dump the Creation Engine so we could actually participate or see such battles in either Fallout or The Elder Scrolls.
Only reason the NCR won was because the chapter ran out of ammo.

People call the NCR "boring" but I honestly think they're amazing. Imagine being the closest thing to a sane faction standing against all the madness this wasteland brings. You know, the west most chapter of Brotherhood was supposed to be at war with the NCR. There's a line about it in New Vegas.
When I watched the show, I was actually confused that Shady Sands was destroyed by just some random guy. I immediately assumed the Brotherhood did it, which would have been a stronger plot point in my opinion.
@wimbusbert1249 Yeah the ongoing NCR Brotherhood war. Basically the BoS refused to share vital tech that could help the NCR even though they had great relations. The NCR was winning, Lost Hills and Hidden Valley were the only areas the BoS had remaining.

NCR in Game: I'm saving one bullet if they break through the dam
To be fair, if The Courier helps them deal with their issues, they can handle themselves fairly well. It just doesn't help that the Mojave (group/division/battalion?) is under-funded, under-manned, led by a political appointee nimcompoop and their competent leadership is either disgruntled and deliberately making things worse or has their hands tied. It also doesn't help that they're underestimating the Football Rome-cosplayers.

Sunburst is really good but I’d like to imagine the NCR is above human wave tactics. Even the most incompetent of their leadership seems to be above that.
That was literally their whole strategy at helios
Yeah like the animation is good but even NCR knows that human wave tactics are a waste of valuable human bodies and resources
against the brotherhood and their tech it's basically the only option, what the NCR has is the option to recruit more, the brotherhood on the other hand relies on close knit families that they can't afford to lose. If I remember correctly that the only reason they started letting outsiders in in the form of squires, they just kept getting swamped by the NCR. The NCR can afford the losses, their ideals appeal to all wastelanders, the brotherhood are greedy hording thieves that most wastelanders rather avoid, especially if they have anything valuable.
@@mojowwwav4357 Typically the NCR would probably use artillery or fight defensively but I guess that wasn’t really an option here. The NCR also has tanks in the now non-canon fallout bible and technicals in the show.
@@thelradame5508 Yeah the NCR had working artillery and armour units, they'd absolutely use them to soften up brotherhood positions rather than dipshit human wave tactics. The NCR lives, the real Shady Sands is still alive well in Death Valley. The "shady sands" in the fallout amazon series was actually Boneyard and Modalver and her "NCR" cronies are just Elite Raiders, not true NCR combatants heck they don't even wear the NCR armor!
That *did* bug me. I mean, they got the guns and Power Armor down really well (seriously, points for that). They even used the Interplay Fallout 1/2 10mm pistol.
And yet, somehow, they screwed up the NCR gear and guns. I mean, they're literally just Brodie helmets, a jacket, pants, goggles, cuirass and M16s (the Service Rifle is an M16 with, for some reason, a wood stock and locked in semi-auto). They could stop up by an Army Surplus store and pick half the gear right there. Pretty much the only part they'd have to custom make is the breastplate.
I clicked because of the song, stayed because of the animation.

This video has no business going as HARD as it does.
The bayonet charge at the beginning makes literally no sense tho.
Edit: they don't even have bayonets wtf
im just going to paste what I said to another commenter:
SODAZ, the creator of the animation has to condense an assumedly, months long siege into a 10-15 minute animation that won't bore the viewer. An animation of the NCR just shelling Helios, wouldn't be as engaging as the NCR assaulting it.
Besides, artillery will decimate Helios', potentially making the buildings facilities inoperable beyond repair. There is specifically a line in the original animation where NCR Rocketeers say "don't hit the building."
Additionally, the full animation still isn't out. The bayonet charge was a distraction to allow NCR snipers to flank the BOS and get their heavy ordinance closer. We don't know if SODAZ would bring out any more NCR reinforcements in future previews of his animations.

First of all, I haven't seen anything official that claims the NCR got completely wiped out, but honestly, yeah, I can imagine it, have you actually considered the position of the NCR?
They were in a two front war with both the Brotherhood and the Legion, the former of which destroyed their economy, then they lost the Dam, and then their capital got deleted.
This is as weak as they will ever get, so anyone that doesn't like them, both on the inside and outside, would strike now while they're down, that's not something you just shrug off.

- Vault 4 has the blood drinking ncr remnants, Do you call modern day japanese the japanese remnants after japan got nuked in ww2, It is gone
- Last date in any context about the ncr is 2077. The notebook in ncr library has 2076, The show implies that ncr (and lucys mom) was nuked in 2077.
All statements by todd and everyone else in bethesda or amazon contradict the show that they themselves decree as canon in every single aspect.
Also the second part of your comment is just wrong in every way.
-BoS was utterly defeated before they encountered the legion properly
- NCR economy is not destroyed, only damaged, the conditions are bad for ncr in mojave more because of hopeville than anything the BoS did
- Them losing the dam is not confirmed, Knowing the level of quality of fallout show writers the status of hoover dam will probably be something really stupid, world breaking and just used for a cheap comedy
- Shady sands can't be deleted as the shady sands we see in the show can't be the real shady sands as it is over 350 miles north east from LA ruins.
- ''As they will ever get'' Do you not realize the problem in that statement? what if one more ncr soldier dies? Then it has gotten worse and you are wrong.
- BoS does not strike them at any point outside of the last episode, even in the flashbacks. New vegas is in ruins, Fiends are retconned as generic cannibals, enclave is not hunting the NCR.
- Ironically the only faction that would have no reasons to strike NCR is vault tec as NCR is made up of, founded and build upon atleast three vaults and their populations. Populations that acted per vault tec instructions
