But phil paid off juror 2 convict max so they dont look at Ben as Ben was also a suspect.
Imo 2017 is where maxes story reached its climax, from when he first arrived on the square, it feels like his whole story had been leading him to this moment, going insane and breaking down over his past and all thats happened, Max Brannings character transformation is probably the best in soap, from wanting to be a family man to a complete lunatic

You can't blame max for what he's saying, he was getting sent to prison for a murder he didn't do and his own daughter lauren knew he didn't do it but kept her mouth shut, that's worse than any dagger to the heart, his own kids know he's innocent and yet did nothing, if your family doesn't have your back, no one has, I'd love to see him come back into eastenders someday, he was a really good character
Max stayed quiet when his niece was accused of murder and he knew she was innocent. He preferred to have Stacey back in the Square over keeping his own family out of prison...Karma

Though Max repeatedly cheated on Tanya and hate him for that but his life is honestly so pitiful. He suffered from a young age. And then he got put into prison for 20 odd years and none of his family apart from carol tried to help him and get him out despite knowing the truth esp his own daughter. Only person who stayed by his side was Stacey.

Thought he'd been through so much with Jim but that didn't excuse how he treated his wives and children. He was so selfish. Jim was quite a cruel man and possibly still racist because when Billy died and Carol was angry with him he never apologised
