I Had Not Been to a Theater since 2009, and My Wife’s Girlfriend had seen this Film a couple of days ago. AND SAID IT WAS A WILD RIDE! I’m a Big Fan of Body Horror! Then reading some of these Comments I said , this is for Me! And we went to see it! Great camera Work, Great Acting, Brilliant Editing, it was completely OVER THE TOP!! Was way more than I EXPECTED!! Iv seen A lot of Body Horror Films dating back to the70s! And this one Took it to A WHOLE NEW LEVEL! GO SEE IT! Now! And Be Sure To Fasten YOUR SEATBELT!
This reminds me of an episode of Ren and Stimpy where the latter created a device that split Ren into two parts. (his apathetic and his evil). The transformation with the two irises looks lifted from that episode.
I thought the story would be about the woman and her clone sharing the same consciousness and living a life of two identities : the same soul in one of the two bodies every week, without the cloned one developing her own personality. Oh boy I was wrong 😅
I fainted when I watched this scene in the cinema. It's not scary but somehow I got so disgusted and that triggered my anxiety to a point where it got so intense i passed out haha
Me too. Sitting in the first row was not a great idea for this film. The way everything is done with the in your face filming and the detail of all the sounds that are made during all the clinical scenes like needle sowing and syringes. I lasted a few minutes longer after this scene ended but it ultimately knocked me out.
@@oskarhansson8677 i do have a history of fainting. I am also anxious. There's been moments before where too much panic or stress makes me faint. Unfortunately i could not. I tend to feel disregulated for hours after being unconscious. It wasn't immediately possible to stay in the cinema or come back. I frequently watch horror though and never really encountered an issue. Possibly due to the heavy focus on needles and such i may have gotten over my limit. I did use to have a pretty big needle phobia. I am eagerly awaiting to rewatch this sometime at home though! Sadly i did very much like the movie up until the point i started to feel unwell.
@@morfheus177 same here. I got anxiety disorder after a combination of stressors 2 years ago. Never had anxiety before, and I'm the opposite to shy or nervous normally. I see it as an allergy. Allergies are the immune systems overreaction to a non harmful chemical. Anxiety is just an overreaction in the same way. It's not just something that people choose to have by overthinking. I also left the cinema and will rewatch. I loved the movie up and also that scene. It was just too intense for me while having anxiety. I have good days and bad days. This wasn't my day. The anxiety was there even before I went to the cinema I do not love horror but I haven't reacted in the same way. I have even seen very disturbing gore like Eugen Armstrongs beheading and shit the Mexican cartels do. But somehow this film was more intense
Yes, but to be fair, it did work better in the cinema, where ALL the sounds (especially the squishy, crackly, scrunchy ones) are very loud, so that it's deliberately uncomfortable to watch it, and the lights were genuinely disorientating on a big screen. But yeah, it does look kind of silly on a small screen!
@@gagalover2k10 this is good horror ending, actually very good, because it was funny, shocking, disturbing and a bit moving, exact combination of emotions that horror drama should deliver.
I feel the same way. After THAT happens in the third act, the movie becomes a Troma film. If that’s your type of thing then great, but I heavily dislike that style of film making. The first two acts are award worthy, but I couldn’t believe how bad the ending was. If we see the monster and it cuts to black, the movie is 10/10.

The double-eyeball scene is nightmare fuel holy cow
Moooo 😊
well, have you seen the whole movie, during the final transformation, now thats nightmare fuel

I think it was horrifying when
the pupils divided the second time at an even faster rate.
The fact that when we see Sue in this specific video is in the "most reviewed" sums a lot of the plot of the movie
i know it's a little disturbing...
Grow up 👍🏻
@@owens5737 huh?
This looks like the greatest movie that I have yet to see.
It’s the greatest movie of the year that I’ve already seen at the cinema four times so there’s a chance you might be right!
@@shan4680 yea pretty sure you haven't watched Deadpool & Wolverine yet
@@TheoAW0810 I saw it. On an iMax screen even. Once was plenty enough, thank you.
@@TheoAW0810seriously 😂
@@TheoAW0810if you think fking Deadpool vs Wolverine is better than this movie than you really need to acquire taste cuz YIKES
Movie of the year. End of. If Demi Moore doesn’t get an Oscar nod I’m never watching them again 😬
From my perspective, I see this movie a little Jekyll and Hyde-like. Elizabeth is Jekyll, Sue is Hyde
Dorian gray
Both, probably
I'm definitely gonna need to be on a substance to watch this movie. That's for damn sure😂😂😂
I think you'd go through an intense journey
This film was so good and I'm not even into horror films.
0:41 Just like a Butterfly come out from the cocoon
Except the cocoon is somehow still alive.
My mind is blown away Demi Moore is not my favorite actress but after this she is……🔥🔥🔥🔥👑😈❤️🔥🌪️

I don't care what anyone says,The Substance was by far the Best Movie of the year.
incredible movie

8 minutes? I take it you're exaggerating.

Yes
@13Iprit What the fuck are you talking about? It didn't last for 8 minutes.
Can you make a video of TERRIFIER 2 where Sienna puts on her Halloween costume?❤
Wildest Ride Ever , but just for open minded brains and senses
Oscar contender for sure
So, the original person should be dead? Where did all her organs go if there's just someone entire other body inside her?
