  • In this video, I showed how to interface a CU20026SCPB-T26A VFD from Noritake-itron with an Arduino. For pin out and the Arduino program listing, please check out : www.kerrywong.com/2018/10/01/i...

Thanks! With this I could make CU40026SCPB-T30A work with only few tweaks. For this model Noritake delivered the datasheet that was not unavailable online. Awesome!

I love VFDs, have a few collecting dust but one day they'll be in future projects.

Hi Kerry. I'm interested in building the filament driver described in your blog post. It is a toroidal transformer designed to step down the 5VAC to 2.4VAC and also provides the bias needed for the filament. I was thinking that it would be possible to add an additional winding to power the grids/anodes. For example, if we wanted 30v for that, we could add another secondary winding for stepping up. Since it's AC, then it could be rectified to provide the DC for the grids/anodes. Can you think of any reason why that wouldn't work or be a good idea? Thanks!

Hi, I have a question about VFDs, how durable are they? Would vibration damage them?
I was thinking on mounting one of these in a car panel, and I was wondering that. I know that LEDs may be the best option, but I really want to use one these "retro" displays.
    Thanks

Maybe there's a bit of hope for older test gear whose VFDs go dim...thanks Kerry!

Is there any chance that a maybe modified version of the lcd library would work? Seems like an 8 bit parallel display as the commonly used lcd displays are also a type of.

Unfortunately no, these are not based on the usual HD44780 chip so the signalling is totally different.

Is there an Arduino library that makes these screens easier to control? How can you create bars instead of writing text?

scusa se sono un po' fuori tema, sono in possesso di 8 valvole IV-17 a 18 segmenti, è possibile pilotarle con arduino per fare apparire scritte a piacere? mi puoi aiutare ?Grazie
