The Little Mermaid backstory makes me want you guys to each take a few of the princesses and then research their Brothers Grimm stories and tell each other about them on the pod
My favorite liminal space is a gas station at 3 am during a road trip. The lights are on, sometimes there's music playing, but your car might be the only one there. It's especially weird if you were sleeping and just woke up
I’m laughing so hard picturing Lucas zip lining all the way to Catalina. I realize he meant that once he was there he did it but it sounded to me like that was the way he arrived 😹😹😹 12:10
a good way to explain liminial spaces is, it's a space where, any other time youve seen that place (like a Chuck E Cheese), it's been full of people - people working, kids playing, parents chatting, etc. when you see a familiar space (or familiar enough like a hallway or street corner) but it's totally devoid of people, no light or deep shadows, that's why it feels scary. it's familiar, but you can tell by looking at it that something is wrong, that this is not the way you are used to viewing this scenario. a street corner with no people doesn't sound so scary... unless you are walking it alone, and every street looks the same, and you feel lost and confused, and no matter how far you walk you find no people or lights or even animals and it's dead silent.
“Don’t question it” me telling my friends conspiracy theories I’ve barely researched 😂😂 also I love how Lucas was so scared and Jacob was so invested in his topics lolll
thank u bros for discussing liminal spaces! my personal fave liminal space is a grocery store right before it closes, like at 10 pm or so. The fluorescent lights, tinny music, empty aisles...something about it is so creepy yet familiar lol
AHHH it’s so weird that y’all mentioned the grid!!! It genuinely does feel in the moment like you’re seeing the world for what it is…. Because it only appears on the sky never like a ceiling or anything
Liminality in anthropology is a state of transition in life. It's an in between stage. Most common example is when a boy transitions to a man in an Indigenous culture where becoming a man involves a journey. During that journey, the male is neither boy nor man. He leaves a boy, returns a man.
MY LIMINAL SPACES: - the staircase leading up to the library at UCI after dark - parking garages at night - grade school campus staircases to playgrounds on weekends - the staircases leading from the public park to the elementary school playground in foothill ranch - the crosswalk between kush fine art and chantilly in laguna beach - the ocean at night because you can't tell the black sky from the black water there's so many im a writer so i have to
It seems like there's a general double meaning to liminality. Like its a kind of transitional space, but also whenever a location or object is shown out of context, such as a usually busy park shown at night when your car is the only car in the lot
In Haiti and in other Afro-Caribbean cultures mermaids are a big thing. There’s stories of people going to the beach and disappearing into the ocean and go missing for years and they suddenly reappear with no memory of what happened. There’s certain rules when you go to the ocean like not wearing perfume or any jewelry when you go into the ocean. It’s really interesting and honestly I believe it because of some experience I’ve had at the beach. you guys should look into it!
all i could think about when y'all were talking bout liminal spaces was that episode of Sponegbob when they're stuck in that spce and Squidward yells 'future' over n over
There is a really cool video about liminal spaces, by solar sands they're basically spaces which feel weird coz they are transition spaces but they're experienced outside their general use.
I HAVE BEEN IN THE BACKROOMS IN SO MANY DREAMS, BEFORE I EVER HEARD OF IT - it is fucking real. It's like empty office looking spaces and you go through a door and it leads to another room or hallway and another one and it goes on and on and on and ON and ON!!!! in these dreams I'm almost lucid. The lights are always on and there is nobody there, sometimes the floors are carpeted or they have old floors and kind of yellowing paint on the walls. The funny thing is I was never really scared just curious. I ALWAYS wake up after wandering around these spaces for a while. I was never scared about it until I learned that it has a creepy af name and theories and other people said they experienced it!!!
The liminal space thing made me think of that one episode of spongebob. I think the one where squidward went into a time machine and ended up in the creepy void world 😂😅
About the dark I think people are more scared of what is in the dark. Like you hear stories or something of scary stuff happening in the dark or just because you can't see so you physically can't see what is in the dark.
omggg when jacob was thinking of a fruit/vegetable i first thought zucchini, then i got tomato, then thought grapes. then i was like ehh i’m probably just thinking of zucchini bc i bought some so at the last minute i changed it to squash! so i felt squash and grapes too
liminal spaces are often characterized by corners, uneven or insufficient lighting, lighting when it is not necessary, artificial light that does not completely block darkness
to me liminal spaces are not scary, they're incredibly beautiful and comforting, and they don't make me feel trapped, to me they are doorways, borderlands, shadowlands, the space between, where possibilities are completely limitless
I heard some cannibals it starts out as a like necessity thing like put in a situation they had to and develop the taste But also people who eat other human do have a mental break kinda like mad cow disease type thing
Apple tv+ has a TV show called calls that in a episode the dude is going home driving and receiving calls from people in his life saying why he ran away, his wife needed him etc but for him he was still going home, highly recommend
i experienced the weirdest liminal space situation where i was at someone’s bathroom and while i was washing my hands there was a mirror in front of me and right behind me which caused it to look like a never ending scary ass illusion?? or i’m prolly overreacting lmfao
I never seen the matrix when I was younger but seen matrix codes on shrooms and acid when I was younger and had hallucinations/ panic attacks I’d see them too even when I was pregnant I seen it again it feels like the world slows and speeds ups like if u were to put a show on slow or fast motion it’s called Alice in wonderland syndrome YES as a kid I would experience remote viewing during those panic attacks and my dad worked with cops who told him abt it and after that I experienced it every other year
"Just don't question it....." "okay." STOP IM SCREECHING
Luminal space: when spongebob gets trapped in that terrible town “rock bottom” and can’t seem to leave, I haaaated that episode
also squidward in that one episode where he was trapped in nowhere or whatever
@@alexandriamdo yesssss
that episode was so disorienting as a kid. It had the same frustration as a fever dream or like trying to run in a dream
Jacob being like "I'm scared... anyway so back to cannibals" took me out 😭
The Little Mermaid backstory makes me want you guys to each take a few of the princesses and then research their Brothers Grimm stories and tell each other about them on the pod
I read The Little Mermaid backstory and that one isn't super inaccurate to the Disney version and has a happy ending as well.
I think reading Brothers Grimm stories for Nursery Rhymes and stuff would be hilarious though XD.

“It’s the darkest night of the year…the moon is shining it’s a very full moon” ☠️🤣🤣🤣
I was literally thinking of grapes when Lucas said grapes.. coincidence? This isn't the first time where Lucas and I were spiritually connected...
There's no such thing as a coincidence
I love how they are anxious from beginning to end
Lucas and Jacob genuinely being scared is so ducking funny. Love y’all
AHHH JACOB TALKING ABT LL LLORONA MADE ME SO HAPPY🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
I’m laughing so hard picturing Lucas zip lining all the way to Catalina. I realize he meant that once he was there he did it but it sounded to me like that was the way he arrived 😹😹😹 12:10

I love Lucas’s hat 😩
Fashion icon
He’s so precious 🖤
15:15 “How do they know it wasn’t a dinosaur “ 😹😹😹
The anxiety I felt thinking something was going to show up in the background
You guys need red lights for car podcasts! Your eyes would then adjust so you could see outside and it would add a spooky vibe. Maybe led strips?
I love Lucas' hat on this video
I want Lucas and Jacob’s opinion on numerology and the Mandela effect. Also about the fact that we can know when we know someone from our past lives
Me to
How can we know whether we knew someone in our past life?
arizona and nevada, driving on the desert roads is so liminal, also gas stations and closed stores after dark with the lights still on
Best thumbnail yet y’all should make tshirts with just a square of that image on it
Spoooooky thumbnail
“Don’t question it” me telling my friends conspiracy theories I’ve barely researched 😂😂 also I love how Lucas was so scared and Jacob was so invested in his topics lolll
My morning has been blessed😍
I'm severely addicted to the gay blair witch viibes
omg so excited im gonna listen to this during the day at school!!
"green bean the giant" i'm crying
god i love this podcast.
thank u bros for discussing liminal spaces! my personal fave liminal space is a grocery store right before it closes, like at 10 pm or so. The fluorescent lights, tinny music, empty aisles...something about it is so creepy yet familiar lol
I didn't know Jacob and Gypsy Rose Blanchard knew each other
Wow 😂
Thanks for saving my boring morning at work 🙌🏾
AHHH it’s so weird that y’all mentioned the grid!!! It genuinely does feel in the moment like you’re seeing the world for what it is…. Because it only appears on the sky never like a ceiling or anything
Liminal spaces and back rooms are my fav aesthetic rn

This is my favorite episode
mermaids being aliens kinda makes sense tho like they would come to earth cause theres so much water here
I came for the bros,
I stayed for the hat.
I can feel the anxiety through the screen Lmaoo
42:23 Jacob, I didn't I was capable of loving you even more
Ok but why did I think Lucas in the thumbnail was Drew Monson 🙃😂
I was like damn collab of my dreams
when y’all said ur at a park in the dark i instantly started singing lolita by lana del rey
Kiss me in the P-A-R-K park tonight
Besties 💛 what a way to start the work day!
Every time you guys got scared a car was coming near you reminds me of Trisha when she is in her car 🤣🤣🤣
MY LIMINAL SPACES:
- the staircase leading up to the library at UCI after dark

Spoopy is from a tumblr post of a Halloween decoration that was supposed to say “spooky” with skulls for the o’s but it said “spoopy”
Anyone else think Drew Monson would actually be a fun addition to them
girl the country that believes in mermaids is Haiti’s (there’s also a lot of history there)
I love the frightened vibe ❤️🔥
week 27 of me asking for an asmr episode of the podcast🤞💕
Lucas looks like a grandma on the thumbnail 😂
Mario64 the haunted level with the wet ground and circus music in the basement has such a liminal space vibe. It always made me uneasy!
maybe i will cry less today
Happy Tuesday yalllllll
it's also very, very liminal to sit upside down on your bed in total darkness listening to slowed reverbed music
all i could think about when y'all were talking bout liminal spaces was that episode of Sponegbob when they're stuck in that spce and Squidward yells 'future' over n over
JACOB and Lucas should do that past life remebering video
Speaking of Dallas Lovato, there’s a girl I know that named one of her twin sons Indiana and we live in Indiana lol not sure why she did that
12:30 reminds me of Mobsters Inc
There is a really cool video about liminal spaces, by solar sands they're basically spaces which feel weird coz they are transition spaces but they're experienced outside their general use.
Project Stargate was the inspiration for Stranger Things
51:08 its la llorona! it’s an urban legend :D
The bros doing the most for us 🙌 yeah, they did that.
I HAVE BEEN IN THE BACKROOMS IN SO MANY DREAMS, BEFORE I EVER HEARD OF IT - it is fucking real. My therapist makes me meditate before each session to clear my mind n gather my thoughts
omggg when jacob was thinking of a fruit/vegetable i first thought zucchini, then i got tomato, then thought grapes. then i was like ehh i’m probably just thinking of zucchini bc i bought some so at the last minute i changed it to squash! so i felt squash and grapes too
I think that liminal spaces are a glimpse into the dream world.
Mermaids that lure you into the water? Sounds like sirens haha
if I had a nickel for everytime Jacob says liminal space...
About to start this, extremely excited!
I’ve totally seen the grid in the sky. It reminds me of the dome in the simpsons movie
Ily
Jacob you need to look into ayahuasca!
my liminal space is like off brand grocery stores. For example, where I am from we have this placed called save-alot. defoooooo liminal space vibes
Fun fact the owner of save a lot stores was a serial killer who killed and buried over 30 men in his yard
liminal spaces are often characterized by corners, uneven or insufficient lighting, lighting when it is not necessary, artificial light that does not completely block darkness
"Really mad..." 😂
Spongebob when squidward goes in the time machine lol
43:59 ick 👀
to me liminal spaces are not scary, they're incredibly beautiful and comforting, and they don't make me feel trapped, to me they are doorways, borderlands, shadowlands, the space between, where possibilities are completely limitless
The camera not focusing is a sign of ghost lol
lucas i agree that planes are liminal before you take off and before you leave
I heard some cannibals it starts out as a like necessity thing like put in a situation they had to and develop the taste
But also people who eat other human do have a mental break kinda like mad cow disease type thing
Apple tv+ has a TV show called calls that in a episode the dude is going home driving and receiving calls from people in his life saying why he ran away, his wife needed him etc but for him he was still going home, highly recommend
this episode is quite spoopy if i do say so myself
Why did I think Lucas was Drew Monson in the thumbnail?!
it's very liminal to drive with no destination and no plan of return in the middle of the night
i experienced the weirdest liminal space situation where i was at someone’s bathroom and while i was washing my hands there was a mirror in front of me and right behind me which caused it to look like a never ending scary ass illusion?? or i’m prolly overreacting lmfao
Thank you
i think of liminal spaces as portals to other worlds
I think the county is Haiti 🇭🇹 many people have reported being taken by them or they go missing after swimming in rivers.
I never seen the matrix when I was younger but seen matrix codes on shrooms and acid when I was younger and had hallucinations/ panic attacks I’d see them too even when I was pregnant I seen it again it feels like the world slows and speeds ups like if u were to put a show on slow or fast motion it’s called Alice in wonderland syndrome YES as a kid I would experience remote viewing during those panic attacks and my dad worked with cops who told him abt it and after that I experienced it every other year
And now I have ads for a psychic reading
fun fact ever since I was a child I have been terrified of cannibals
1:08:36 out of context tho hits diff
I WAS THINKING HORSEBACK RIDING I GASPED SO LOUD IN GOODWILL
I think my whole life is just one looong liminal space 😭
Jenna and Julien talked about the hollow earth theory on their podcast! There’s a lot more to it. There is a traveler who says he went into it
I thought of squash 👀
watch ethan come out from the dark
i need to get on the liminal spaces reddit lol
