Gale being the most popular origin character makes sense, because hes the route for speedruns Edit: Seems a lot of people miss my point and dismiss my argument, let me clear something up. Many of the reasons listed, such as Gale's human race and wizard class, are valid reasons for him being common. Also, what is cool about Monks. Normally only Finesse weapons draw from dexterity if it is higher than strength but if you're a monk. As long as the weapon is able to be wielded single handed and you are proficient with the weapon it draws from dexterity. That being if you are spec out for dexterity. Elf gets you longswords which in my opinion are the best sword class that can be used in one hand in the game. Really wish scimitars did damage more comparable to longswords rather than short swords. I just like the style of them. But their damage is terrible.

Monk is actually a really fun class to play. Was a Tiefling Monk and it was pretty powerful. It's just so much more satisfying to take someone down with my fists.
One of my friends and I are doing an honor run, and we just beat Grym last night. That fight really showed the power and stress of misclicking as both of our MC’s either ran into the lava or got downed by lava even though they were standing on the mould injector thing. We ended up cheesing it with rogue Shart firing away for 5 minutes from the bridge. Thank god for scrolls of dimension door!!
If halflings and dwarves in particular didn't have such dumpy faces that made them all but impossible to take seriously in cutscenes, I might be inclined to play them lol
Larian Studios deserves every ounce of BG3’s success. They nailed every major category the gaming community has been asking for and they did it without being greedy. This game is nothing short of a 10/10 👏🏼
Or me with my gloomstalker ranger just silently obliterating everyone with a couple of well-timed arrows. Almost regretting doing that playthrough now because I can't experience it for the first time again.
Considering I make it a habit to yeet all halflings and gnomes that I come across... I understand why they aren't played as much... I shapeshift into one when I need Karlach to throw me over a gap I can't jump before I get Misty Step. lmao
Im really so glad Larian did so well on this game. As a long time lover of the BG series as well as DnD, and RPGs in general (TT and VG) you can really tell how much love they put into the game. They definitely set a new standard, well above any other studio out there. And got EVERYTHING they deserve for it 🖤 I literally couldnt imagined a better game studio. Especially at this point in time, where our older, once favorited studios have fallen so much from their previous graces. You all know the ones 😂
My Deep Gnome Tavern Brawler Monkstrocity has become my favorite DnD character I've ever created. His name is Halfthor and he is the living embodiment of "Have you ever gotten so pissed off that you beat a motherf*cker with another mother f*cker?" 😂
Shadowheart being the most popular kinda makes sense when you consider that she's the first you pick up after the tutorial and she's super easy to romance.
I mean, you can be her saviour in the tutorial, freeing her from the pod. You garner up alot of approval with her just by doing that and traveling with her
@@Thz333 I'm a simple man, and Shadowheart appeals to the sort of future I tend to imagine for my characters of retiring to go live the nice quiet life out in the countryside and raise a family. Might not be for everyone, but it's most certainly to my tastes.
and her romance is the most rewarding for people who value long-term relationship. if s*x is your main priority and emotional bonding comes later then you'll be more interested in Lae’zel, Astarion or Minthara

It really surprised me he wasn't in the top 3 romanced characters. I can see him not being first as I don't imagine he's popular with the straight male players (wich I assume are the majority). I can also see Shart and Karlach being the top 2, but I never thought Lae'zel would be more romanced than Astarion.
@@ivorywine2627lmao I'm a woman and i romanced shadowheart cause I played as a straight male character. Why would you think that the reason why not everyone romanced astarion is because they are men?
@@slvaltva1392 I mean it's all just assumption in the end. I just imagine a lot of people played, at least partly with Tavs that are to some degree a projection of themselves, so it makes sense they'd project their own sexuality onto those characters (assuming they're straight men). Personally it also took me the first two act of my 1st playthrough to relax enough to start actually roleplaying as my character and not chose options based on the outcome I wanted. So that's why I came to that conclusion. Another explanation that is way simpler is that I got stuck in an Astarion echo chamber so it seemed he was more popular than he objectively was lol It could also be a bit of both
Nearly a year has gone by since release date. Still my favorite game to play on Steam. Can't wait for mod support and see what the community has to offer over the years
Karlach and Shadowheart are the two best love interests. Karlach just loves you the most, by far. You can't not love her back. And Shadowheart is the most beautiful. I could listen to her talk all day while she's wearing nothing.
I just started my first playthrough last week. I'm absolutely blown away at the level of detail in this game. I understand now why BG3 won GOTY. Well deserved.
shadowheart being the most common romantic interest makes sense. you collect her right at the start, shes not a green lizard lady and shes easy to get along with. You can free the grove without ever meeting Karlach and ahve your little sit-together with Shadowheart during the celebrations.

Well yeah, the FANTASY is the extermination and persecution of the other races :D
Meanwhile me choosing dwarf to experience what is like to be 5'9ft
Wundakin.
Supposedly the most common character created during the history of D&D is a male human fighter named Bob.
Lol my run was a literal halfling Monk who romanced Karlach
Lmfao
My run was halfling cleric who romanced Karlach) We are like unicorns I think
I ran a halfling monk too. He was a beast!
My Durge Halfling Ranger romanced Karlach
Halfling Monk here too! His name is Byiggon and my cousin and I are doing a multiplayer run (she’s a Githyanki Ranger).
Byiggon has white hair and a white handlebar mustache lol. I’m doing a stupid multiclass though. He’s LV 1 Bard, LV 1 Rogue, LV 3 Monk so far - insane build lmao.
Me : made a perfect tav for my playthrough
Also me : changed their appearance 10 minutes after started the act 1
Monk is my favorite.
"Oh, you've disarmed me?"
Monk unarmed stun goes brrrrr
I don't see how monk isn't more played its been one of my favorites so far and I've been bodying everything
Because monk is so incredibly weak comparatively
@@candiedcrusader7841 tavern brawler 6 monk 3 thief 3 fighter dunks on literally any class that it's not even funny.
And it's OP even without min/maxing
@@candiedcrusader7841 all you need is the Tavern Brawler Feat and you're ripping through every enemy in front of you. And that's not even close to how broken a Monk can be in BG3
@@candiedcrusader7841 it’s actually probably the most OP class in the game, it’s just kind of boring and not flashy.
Bro as soon as I found out Halsin widdles ducks in his spare time I was sold
i think you mean he "whittles" ducks... as in, he carves them out of wood.
If Halsin was "widdling ducks", I would definitely be concerned if he needs a cleric... or an exorcist... because he is peeing ducks. XD
Monk is actually a really fun class to play. Was a Tiefling Monk and it was pretty powerful. It's just so much more satisfying to take someone down with my fists.
Bro, githyanki monk is just so op, I mean I insta misty step into enemy mages and just stun all of them to death
UH-
Anothed Tiefling Monk homie!
I hired the halfling bard hireling, turned her into a monk and I throw her into the battle with my barbarian
Im on my first playthrough and I have Karlach as a monk/barbarian and she's absolutely disgusting at only level 6
Had a Githyanki monk run, was a blast punching 👊 everything, and everyone
One of my friends and I are doing an honor run, and we just beat Grym last night. That fight really showed the power and stress of misclicking as both of our MC’s either ran into the lava or got downed by lava even though they were standing on the mould injector thing. We ended up cheesing it with rogue Shart firing away for 5 minutes from the bridge. Thank god for scrolls of dimension door!!
If halflings and dwarves in particular didn't have such dumpy faces that made them all but impossible to take seriously in cutscenes, I might be inclined to play them lol
49 million scratches for scratch isn’t ENOUGH…WE NEED MOOOOOOORE
Larian Studios deserves every ounce of BG3’s success. They nailed every major category the gaming community has been asking for and they did it without being greedy. This game is nothing short of a 10/10 👏🏼
I'm actually shocked, as my first run was a gnome monk. There's something about taking down God's with my fist that's just satisfying lol
Stunning Ball Flick!
I went buff mustached human monk and dipped into barb once at 7 for rage, basically wanted to rp as a flightless viltrumite or saiyan lol
@@SpicyDeddyI gotta know… did it work. How similar were you to a viltrumite
I love how theres an entire stat for fireball! They definitely know their audience well! 🤣
For such a simple character creation it really does have a depth of its own
I tried a gnome before, party memebers kept throwing me at the enemies, also the reason why we've failed all honor runs to date.
Maybe dont be so throwable then...
Stop looking so cute when ur being tossed idk
disguise yourself as dragonborn. problem solved 😂😂
And here I am with my cleric, spirit guardian dashing all my problems away
Or me with my gloomstalker ranger just silently obliterating everyone with a couple of well-timed arrows.
Almost regretting doing that playthrough now because I can't experience it for the first time again.
My second play through will be the most evil gnome the world has ever seen. I just have this image in my head of a 2 foot tall cackling psychopath.
"DO IT!"
Palpatine.
Scratch has not been pet enough. Show him more love!
i do what i can :(
I hope more games do this. This is so fun to listen to and makes me want to play the game.
Yusssss. Team Karlach! ❤
Muscle girl appreciators rise up
Team Karlach reporting in.
Reporting in for karlach quality time duty.
Mama k is too cute 🥰 🥰
Fan of Mama K, reporting for duty!
Can't believe halflings aren't getting the love they deserve
Considering I make it a habit to yeet all halflings and gnomes that I come across... I understand why they aren't played as much...
I shapeshift into one when I need Karlach to throw me over a gap I can't jump before I get Misty Step. lmao
Im really so glad Larian did so well on this game. As a long time lover of the BG series as well as DnD, and RPGs in general (TT and VG) you can really tell how much love they put into the game.
They definitely set a new standard, well above any other studio out there. And got EVERYTHING they deserve for it 🖤
I literally couldnt imagined a better game studio.
I love gnomes, halflings, and dwarfs, but the movement speed nerf is very noticeable after playing something like an elf
That's probably why they are so low tbh
Just bought the game and already team Karlach. The videos ive seen of her, clearly show her as best girl.
This will go into my book of grudges.
Considering Drow are also incredibly popular, I think it's safe to say Elves lead by a wide margin for "most popular species".
I would not have expected berserker to be the most popular subclass
Shadowheart being the most popular kinda makes sense when you consider that she's the first you pick up after the tutorial and she's super easy to romance.
I mean, you can be her saviour in the tutorial, freeing her from the pod. You garner up alot of approval with her just by doing that and traveling with her
And cuz ppl are so basic and shadowheart is so basic cute girl.
@@Thz333 I'm a simple man, and Shadowheart appeals to the sort of future I tend to imagine for my characters of retiring to go live the nice quiet life out in the countryside and raise a family. Might not be for everyone, but it's most certainly to my tastes.
Laezel is an old mexican lady, 75% of people killed kharlach, so there isnt much choice other than shadow
and her romance is the most rewarding for people who value long-term relationship. if s*x is your main priority and emotional bonding comes later then you'll be more interested in Lae’zel, Astarion or Minthara
I have played a Life Cleric and Light cleric... they both had the ability to absolutely destroy people while still healing the team.
Laezel is my favorite romantic partner
I didn’t realize how much of freak she is until I unlocked more of her dialogue
Welp time to romance laezel
@@indominusbat545
It really surprised me
Makes her all the more likable, no?
@@Fridaey13txhOktober yes she my favorite romance option
@@Fridaey13txhOktober thanks for reminding me
I need to redownload and do another play through
As a guy who's always a custom male, multi-planar, reincarnated, half-elf ranger named Talind Arleth who has adventured across Baldur's Gate, Amn, Ravenloft, Neverwinter, Icewind Dale, Stolen Lands, The Worldwound, and several branches of Eora, I consider myself a very unique champion.
One of my most favorite bits of news is that larian winning awards so often was affecting prodtivity of the studio because they felt obligated to go to the award shows for their nominations😂
I'm surprised Ranger is one of the least picked. I went ranger my first playthrough and it absolutely pops off especially at higher levels.
Me, a monk gold dwarf who's fucking laezel
Duergar supremacy
In order to balance out the ridiculous number of elf players, I must do a Pelinal Whitestrake tun that will entail me killing all the Elf npc’s in the game.
Cleric is because shadow heart is a conveniently right there at the start as a whole ass cleric.
Dude, being a gnome rogue is so much fun, definitely underrated experience
Monk and cleric being the least played is crazy cuz Monk is SUPER good in bg3, and Cleric is well known for being amazing all around.
Imagine if one of the stats they include next time is how many times Alfira/Quill have been durged.
Alot of times, ley me tell you
God I wish they would keep adding to this wonderful game
Glad I can contribute to that number in the character creation screen because I left my computer on all night on the character creation screen,
I just finished it tonight, God what an experience of a game!❤ Bg3 deserves all the praise and flowers it's getting 😊 Time for my next playthrough!🤩
Nobody will ever be as good as my flaming hot cheeto.
Monk is a banger class. First playthrough was a monk and I had a great time solving all my problems with punching
Wow I was not expecting Gale. And I really would have expected astarion to beat out shadowheart
It really surprised me he wasn't in the top 3 romanced characters. I can see him not being first as I don't imagine he's popular with the straight male players (wich I assume are the majority). I can also see Shart and Karlach being the top 2, but I never thought Lae'zel would be more romanced than Astarion.
@@ivorywine2627 that makes sense.
@@ivorywine2627it took me wayyy too long to realize Shart was Shadowheart shortened please never call a human being that ever again😭😭
Another explanation that is way simpler is that I got stuck in an Astarion echo chamber so it seemed he was more popular than he objectively was lol
It could also be a bit of both
"Team Karlach over here"
MY FUCKING MAN HELL YEAH!
Nearly a year has gone by since release date. Still my favorite game to play on Steam. Can't wait for mod support and see what the community has to offer over the years
I’m so excited to play Balls Gay 3
💀
Aight I found out what to call the game when talking to my sibling 👍
Tf 💀
I wasn't expecting ranger to be one of the least played classes, it's so fun to play!
I’m playing a beastmaster right now and it’s a blast! The versatility the companions provide is awesome!
Karlach and Shadowheart are the two best love interests. Karlach just loves you the most, by far. You can't not love her back. And Shadowheart is the most beautiful. I could listen to her talk all day while she's wearing nothing.
Now these are the type of stats i like to see, it really puts it all into perspective
Monk is highly slept on, that class is the most fun I’ve had in the game just throwing hands because who needs a weapon when you have fists of fury
I'm only here to pump up the numbers for scratch
Ranger is amazing... 6th playthrough and tried it this week
Ranger is fun. My first playthrough was as a Beast Master Ranger 8/Thief Rogue 4 with akimbo hand crossbows. I didn't use a single tadpole
Team Karlach ❤️
Karla and Bae Zel for life
It makes sense that least chosen class is cleric since groups only really need one healer. Also I’m surprised the number for Scratch pets is so low.
I just started my first playthrough last week. I'm absolutely blown away at the level of detail in this game. I understand now why BG3 won GOTY. Well deserved.
Not picking dwarf is a sign of low test
I love playing dwarfs, but the movespeed penalty is such a drawback, espesially if you wanna play barb
Honestly, that number for number of Scratch Pets is too low. We need to get those numbers up.
No surprise there. Gale is the only straight guy and Shadowheart is the most normal and conventionally attractive.
sorry to break it to you but no main character is straight and canonically everyone in faerun is bi
@@justasaiyanfromearth5252 ... which is cringe!
@@Fridaey13txhOktober well then play a different game
Tiefling, monk, romancing shadowheart, Tragically it is only just now that I have learned that you CAN pet scratch.
the fact that the strongest character u can build is arguably a dwarf ranger, this is hilarious to me
Halflings are going to be more popular as they're one of the best picks for honor mode
Team Astarion over here 😂
Now take into account the number of reruns we did
I love that you used my fav soundtrack for it
shadowheart being the most common romantic interest makes sense. you collect her right at the start, shes not a green lizard lady and shes easy to get along with. You can free the grove without ever meeting Karlach and ahve your little sit-together with Shadowheart during the celebrations.
COWARDS, ALL OF YOU!
The BEST romance is OBVIOUSLY the Emperor.
Star wars back here like just do it take the power of the tadpole Luke
You play Gale to speedrun parts of the game, I play Gale so I don't have to constantly skip through all his dialogue
We are not the same
😂
love this and much love to all in the BG3 and DND communities for being welcoming and teaching me how to play
Seeing the character creation got me 😂 the rest of the game was amazing to play 🙌🏽
I like that Gale is most played, as it implies that people just didn’t want him in their camp
