You have a nice beautiful garden you’ve done great job in your garden , it is one of the best the garden I’ve seen so many videos , thank you for sharing the hydrangeas , so so beautiful, I’m going to plant more next year under my tree that shady area
Olga.. I love your blue Hydrangeas. And your videos are such a sweet visit among friends…. Have you considered extending your “stick fencing” in the area between your yard and the neighbors temporarily? At least until your beautiful Hydrangea becomes full grown. Continuing to pray for your friends and family in Ukraine.
We have that generic wooden rails fence between us and 2 neighbors. It is fine, rustic looking and is doing the job of defining our properties. One is ours and I am growing climbing roses on it. Another belong to my neighbor. I am itching to ask him if I can grow some climbing rose on his fence. I don't know... But thank you for watching! Hugs!
Thank you for a great video Olga...I never know the correct way to prune hydrangeas and you've explained it very well. I leave the old flowers on to protect the new buds but always unsure of how much to prune. I have a couple of Panicled Lime lights and a Vanilla Fraise which is beautiful. I also have a big leaf which grows enormous but doesn't bloom much, now I know why! Happy gardening xx
All roses are different, some bloom once, twice, on old wood, on new wood, climb, bush, long stem, you have to choose when buying the type you want and if they are everblooming, You cannot make a twice blooming rose bloom all summer etc. Like any other plant they have their specific bloom times and schedules basically.
Thanks for sharing; I bought some mature potted macrophylla hydrangea on fb market. Minimal blooms because previous owners had cut them. At least I'm hopeful for next year😅
Sorry to hear that mopheads hydrangeas are not growing well for you. You are right, cold climates past zone 7/6 are not really warm for those hydrangeas. Plus the trim time is important.
Those Hydrangeas are truly Beautiful and Enchanting.....i love it...💙💚💛💜💖 Thank you for sharing your Beautiful collection of Hydrangeas....Olga. All the best wishes to you and yours. Greetings from Zaleha
Hi Zaleha! Nice to get your message! Aren't those hydrangeas gorgeous? I missed the peak bloom, we were on vacation, but still at this stage they are wonderful! Glad you like them! Till next time...
I was also dreaming about a garden and house, already planted many roses ( I adore David Austin ones). We were going to start building our house this summer. And now we can't plan anything cause of war. Hoping that our dreams will come true. You have a beautiful garden. Thank you for showing it.
Ajisai. Beautiful isn’t it ? Tonight I can’t sleep, since 8 th of July I have been crying over Mr. Shinzo Abe former priminester of Japan. From February I have been crying over the Uklina damage and loss of innocent people lives as well. I feel so sad and upset today so I came to your lovely video before I go to sleep, your voice seems lift my mood. Hope you are very well. Hope your family is ok. 💖 Love from UK. 🌹Good night
Hi Nagaoka! Hello fro Connecticut, US! Yes, news about former prime minister of Japan are horrible. My family is doing fine, thank you! Have a lovely day.
Another enchanting and informative video Olga, thanks to you and your husband… really nice to see your subscriber numbers growing, you deserve it. Please hit the like button folks and let’s get those algorithms soaring 💐🐌🏴
Hi Polly, unfortunately I don't have the name. I belive my husband brought those as display pot hydrangeas. They were not suppose to live as garden plants, but I took care of them and they lived. It was many years ago, now I don't know the name. Sorry.
I'm learning so much from you. Loved this video. I'm. In the UK and gave some mop head hydrangeas in pots. My white one seems quite scorched after our heat wave, its only its first year. Do all hydrangeas need shade? Fantastic garden you have xx
Hi Davena, hydrangeas are known to have aggressive root system and can fill the pot pretty quick. Is your pot big? I mean 2 feet across? Also, if pot is not big, plant is stressed out and is susceptible to damage. Plus, white hydrangeas are not really drought tolerant. They need regular watering. Hope it helps.
@@OlgaCarmody thank you. Yes the pot is twice as big as the plant and only got potted this year, I water twice a day in the heat trying to avoid the petals. I think the heavy sun got it as every bllom looks scorched. I'll try move it to a more shaded area. Thanks for the advice xxx
@@davenadainton4209 In hot climates they like morning sun, afternoon shade. And they say to they like moist but with good drainage, yellow leaves might mean too much water, twice a day seems a lot. Funny, I rented a house with twin hydrangeas, might of been limelight as they were white and turned green then a blushy burgundy (light) when left on plant to die. But I hacked the hell out of them since they hung over the sidewalk, and your head, they heads were odd shaped and humongous. Like over afoot across. When it rained they would hang in walk and you would get soaked. I never watered, they were there already a long time, and did great, though no afternoon sun. It's hard to grow big plants in pots isn't it? Always gotta mess with watering and all kinds of stuff. lol. Good luck!
Beautiful hydrangeas. Love your accent. We just returned from a 5 day vacation. Hydrangeas are wilted and some of the hydrangea flowers have turned brownish. It apparently did not rain while we were out of town and the hydrangeas did not get watered. Is it possible to bring the hydrangea flowers back to life? Not sure what kind they are but they are pink.
I am afraid that your hydrangeas are done blooming for the year with those brown blooms. They can't be resurrected back to life. Make sure that your hydrangeas are well watered and they might surprise you with additional extra blooms. Good luck!
Olga, Thank you for all the information on the hydrangea's in your beautiful gardens. I have just put in two new gardens with Proven Winners Firelight. Fire Light Tibit, Invincibile Spirit II. Incrediball Pinkey Winky and Dance with me Can Do. I spend a lot of time watering. Hydrangea's are my favorite!
Your videos are wonderful Olga, so glad I came across them. Informative and very inspiring! Do you ever deal with chlorosis on your hydrangeas and if so how do you deal with it?
Hi Helen, I never had to deal with chlorosis in my garden. But I know that foliage treatment with iron products is a quick but temporary solution. The best way would be a slow one: iron deficiency needs to be addressed in soil. It is slow to correct but you can purchase one of those iron products and see. Also check your soil, if the numbers are too alkaline or acidic, plants cant take nutrients in, including iron. Hope it helps.
Great video Olga. You are so passionate about your lovely garden & your tour was fun. I have always loved Hydrangeas but now only have a patio so I am growing them in pots. I recently purchased a “Bloomstruck” from our local nursery & it’s about to bloom. I am in zone 9 & hoping for a purple. If not I will be adding an acid food. Thank you!

And that goes for any early spring bloomers like lilacs etc, they set buds in the fall for spring, this is why the weather changes etc are messing with the poor spring bloomers, they come out, then it freezes and then heat kills the blooms, really stinks. I have seen many lawn guys who don't know this and just trim everything back in spring.
Wow! Hydrangea flower colour speechless. Beautiful
I love those hydrangeas. I am glad you enjoyed my video!
Lovely lovely garden. Love your hydrangeas they are beautiful. From Tennessee.
Wow how pretty your hydrangeas are! Did you do anything to protect your hydrangeas for the cold Winter?
I don't do any protection, if we have bad winter, I loose some blooms.

Being poor is miserable. All I've ever had is over-priced rentals and NO gardens ever.
It is amazing what one package of seeds can do around your home! If you have at least a bit of ground.
