I did want the GTR to win but I'm definitely not dissapointed by the McLaren's unbelievable pace, yes it was a close finish but the McLaren had an extra 7mins or so in the pits vs the Bentley and GTR. What a fast machine and what a drive by Van Gis and Chiyo. It's amazing to think that Nissan get drivers from Gran Turismo!
i watched this race back in 2016 and i have to say it is by far the best Bathurst race ive ever watched...got kicked out of the house by my dad for making noise while they were asleep. that was one hell of a chase by the GTR...if this race was one more lap, Chiyo was going to win this race.
I don't really care who wins, I just love this kind of racing, but to be honest I also love it when the "lower end" cars like Nissan beats the "big boys" like Bentley, Ferrari, etc etc.

amazing that a nissan product can hold its name to a macclaren or be said in the same breath granted its nismo still amazing proof how far the gtr gar has come since its induction im in love with its transmission its differentials its aggressive toe and cornering capability just one of those cars that absolutely drains the driver constantly asking for more. Probably the Engine in the Mclaren started its life as a Nissan engine. The look of that blue r32 with the white wheels... that GT3 exhaust sorta sounds like it has the same Calsonic RB engine
It's clear that the 650s gt3 was a better car than the gtr in 2016, get over it, I'm a fan of nismo but man, the car was way less competitive than the rest of the grid, Shane Van Gisbergen is a great pilot and Chiyo too, but during the race the mclaren was much more consistent, god sake they make a record during the qualy, fair result, good race, hope to see nismo champion again
Nismo gtr gt3 is faster in a straight line. chiyo took like 5 seconds out of van gisbergen like every lap and that means it not even close drivering skill
Some GTR Fans dont get it. The McLaren now he would win. He was the last Laps in absolute Safe Mode. You can see in the Onboard Pictures that he took most Corners one Gear higher than normal. While the GTR (who never won ANYTHING) was on 110% Maximum. Some of you think ""one more Lap"" ??? LoooL That only Show how much you understand about this Sport.

@@georgejakob1451 Yeah, McLaren bought rights to an engine developed by Tom Walkinshaw Racing based on one of Nissan's VRH engines. However, they developed the hell out of the engine to the point that it only shares its bore with the Nissan Engine. The McLaren engine is the M838T Engine which debuted with the MP4-12C in 2011 Other cars to use variations of that same engine in McLaren's line up since then are: 12C GT3, 650S, 675LT, P1 and P1 GTR/LM, 540C, 570S and 600LT. The current M840T used in the 720S (Might be in the Senna as well) is an evolution of the M838T.
Those final 15 minutes were so good that I think it's safe to say that it was better than the entire F1 2014 and 2015 season, combined 😂

The GT-R was a beast back then. It was chasing chacing the McLaren like a hungry Lion hunting a deer.

The last pit stop was the game changer. That said, Chiyo would have had checkered flag the second time.
Man Chiyo went crazy on the final lap, good battle nonetheless.
If this would have extra few laps, Chiyo may steal it from the Mclaren.
