All the money in the world wouldn’t get me up there - all credit to you fella. Balls of steel!! V informative and seeing life and land from a totally different perspective 👍
Brings back memories in the mid 70s my friend opperated a Potain tower crane, he trained me how to 0pperate it, these days there are more systems installed to help the driver and a good heater in the cab helps in the winter.I don't miss the climb first thing in the morning I feel for you, it takes it out you on the climb up, thanks for the videos I will keep watching
I am the same as most on here, no way would I or could I do that. If I could, I would spend half an hour on the climb, then need a piss the second I take my seat haha. Take care mate
Enjoying the videos thanks for the look into your world. A quick way to convert centigrade to Farenheit (approx) is double the centigrade and add 30 so 5c = double it to 10 + 30 = 40F
I almost lost my balance and fell out my bed every time you look up or down lmao it's not that I'm afraid of heights but rather it's the sudden stop at the bottom that really gets me wheezy 😂
What a great find. Credit to you as there's no way on this earth you'd get me up there and with no harness. I take it coming down is far easier. The views must be great. Looking forward to seeing some more videos as it's so interesting.
I have followed coast crazy for a long time now not really into cranes but thought I would give it ago and I’ve got to say I’m really enjoying it specially this video I am a massive Brentford fan and always look up when I’m in the stadium thinking sod that I wouldn’t like to be up there! 😂 great channel great work Andy .
Totally agree, Andy comes across well informed on the construction terminology, having worked in construction myself for nearly 30 years it's most interesting hearing him explain for people who aren't construction background about piles, slip forms, rigs, re- bar and various other things which hopefully enlighten and broaden viewers knowledge of the topic. It's absolutely constructive you know 🐛🐛
I have worked at height for most of my career fair play on your ladder climbing, I always hold the ladder stiles ( sides) as you never let go and enables me to carry things in one hand as do most of my colleagues, others inc the fire brigade recommend holding the rungs as your grab mechanism works better in a slip but you are constantly letting go Loving your channel 👍
Good to see more of your crane work there Andy , this is definitely a job for those who have no fear of heights and to climb up the ladder to your cab and you seem to manage it well - nice 1 mate 👍
🤠Greetings, from Keene, New Hampshire, USA! I'm a retired trucker and pro musician. But now, I'm a fiction writer of trucking and UFO adventures. I enjoyed your Vlog very much. Thanks for showing us the climb up into the crane footage. Just before I found you, I was trying to depict a SWAT sniper climbing up and onto a 300,ft tower crane then out onto the 200ft jib🫣. And this, on a blustery below ° full moon night to do surveillance on suspects while perched over a gigantic container yard. Seeing those rest platforms ( what do you call them?), at different intervals made more sense than my vertical straight loooooonnng latter!🙄😳
Much respect to you guys. I was curious about how you got up there. Never imagined that you climbed. I am totally awed. I could never do this Even watching the video made me a little woozy.
Hi I watched the video of you climbing the crane. I would have liked to experience it years ago, but age and disability wouldn't allow it now. What I did wonder is how they would get you down if you were taken ill and not able to descend by yourself?
Thanks for posting, I not a crane operator. But find them intriguing.i see the electric cable running down one side of the tower. Would love to know how that all connects. And when the crane is unattended in high winds. How the cable doesn’t twist and snap? So basically the electrical side to running the crane, keep the videos coming 👍
I've been a crane driver when I was in my 20 s a 40 and 80 foot over head crane... but tower's were not for me at the time.. but I really enjoyed the job at the time it's exciting bleave it or not the crane becomes a part of you when you're in that cab...lol.. I could make it sing if I wanted to.... only a professional crane driver would understand that fraze..lol.. I've actually had one derail on me which was quite a life experience at the time.... it's not very often I needed a slinger to hang the lifts on .... people on the ground was so amazed.. but it was just a job to me I loved it very much... the good old days hay....
All the money in the world wouldn’t be enough to get me up there! Great to watch though. I know you said in another video you’ve trained yourself not to need a dump, but what about a pee? I assume you have a bottle or something. Also is there any way of getting down if taken ill?
Love the channel! How tall do freestanding tower cranes usually go - I've seen a few that must be over 100m. I imagine they must sway a tonne when over 70m.
Just found the channel . It is great and I would love to do the job .I wouldnt worry about the height , but the climb looks like hard work . Sorry if you have covered this elsewhere , but are crane operators only trained or qualified to work one type of crane ( Horizontal Jib or Luffing Jib ) or can you work either bearing in mind the different operating models . Looking around you dont seem to see as many horizontal job cranes as you used to and certainly in the cities they all seem to be luffers ( apart from yours ) . I am guessing this is dependent on how many cranes are needed to operate on each site and the turning circles available .
Hi Andy, I’m on my second week training and have my exams in a couple of days, found your videos really helpful, I’m training about 20 meters up, that’s scary enough, but starting to get used to it, how long did it take you to get used to the heights? Thanks 👍
I was wondering before why none of the cranes have lifts, even the 24 meter crane would probably have one here in the Netherlands. Makes it easy to see when the driver is back from their break. But like you say, it's definitely good exercise. So far I've not seen any block cameras, but they pretty much all have one in the trolley. Interesting videos, I like seeing your perspective and enjoy your presentation.
i work in san francisco and work on the freight elevators and i tryed climbing a tower crane from 42 stories and you got bigger balls than i most people dont realize witch a didnt also realize but when i was on salesforces tower was the winds that happen at 70 stories i love my job but i have always wanted to be one of you guys some people got it and others dont ya im scared of heights
i,m knackered just watching you mate fair play to you .. i,m a bricky myself ..just out of curiosity how much does a crane operator get paid if you don,t mind me asking..
I go down for the loo if I’m needing a number 2 but wee I a bottle, don’t have coffee tea facilities up the crane but I can if I want and I stay up for breaks
Not a chance of me ever climbing that! much respect Andy love your new channel and also Coaster Crazy as awesome good work mate! This this would be good to do a live video!
Mate please... I'll even buy you one and meet you if you ever work around yorkshire... Wear some fall arrest equipment. Just hook on every 5 ladder lats. Respect.
I'm also a tower op and have thought for years to do what you are doing on RUclips but never got round to it. Do falcon and Hills know you are doing this? Have worked for falcon in the past. Keep up good work
@CRANE CRAZY cool main reason I've not done it myself is the 1st site I spoke to about the idea years ago had a no filming or posting on social media policy. Yesterday I took and posted a quick video of my current job. No confident enough to talk like you do tho. Stay safe.
just subscribed this week finding it interesting .i have a huge fear of heights and vertigo lol when you was peering over the side i was hanging onto my arm chair pmsl.daft question if you need the loo do you have to climb back down ? (old age creeping in now i'm 60 you have to go more regular lol).anyway looking forward to future video's all the best from skegvegas
Like I said before you must need that crane to carry you balls in mate 👍nuff respect to you for climbing that, I’m in the construction industry too but stay in my nice warm digger on the ground 😂😂😂👍
Hi Andy, enjoying these crane videos… really different. You’ve already answered a few questions I’ve had. How do you get down in an emergency, a rapid abseil etc?
There is a rescue plan put in place where a group of on site staff are trained by the fire brigade on how to abseil off a crane basically, the driver is then lifted off the crane with a harness and ropes
Respect Andy ! No way i couldnt do that climb, also not to be able to go for a #2 all day its a hell no from me lol. Wouldnt you think they would put a person basket to hoist the driver up and down the crane. Till the next :)
The skyline of London has changed massively over the last 20/30 years, not just in Central London (the City), but there are many clusters of new skyscrapers all over London. Canary Wharf/Lewisham/Vauxhall/Elephant and Castle/Stratford/Brentford/Croydon/Nine Elms/The South Bank/Wembley/Aldgate etc. If all of the modern skyscrapers in London were built in the same general area, the skyline would look like New York or Hong Kong.
Is there an emergency exit? I’m imagining a rope you just abseil down the outside? I would of said what about sliding down the ladder but boots and gloves would soon wear out.
I am jealous.Must be a great sensation because in your cab all you can see is the huge jib and not the tower itself.?Just a few inches of play must feel like several feet.
All the money in the world wouldn’t get me up there - all credit to you fella. Balls of steel!! V informative and seeing life and land from a totally different perspective 👍
Not enough to get me up there either lol I do it for the love
It's not that hard really I do it all the time
Brings back memories in the mid 70s my friend opperated a Potain tower crane, he trained me how to 0pperate it, these days there are more systems installed to help the driver and a good heater in the cab helps in the winter.I don't miss the climb first thing in the morning I feel for you, it takes it out you on the climb up, thanks for the videos I will keep watching
"don't look down" he says. while looking down! The parts where you lean out and point at things are nearly giving me heart attacks! LOL.
Haha glad to entertain you
Fair play Andy there is no way I could climb up those ladders like you do respect mate 👍 love the channel
I am the same as most on here, no way would I or could I do that. If I could, I would spend half an hour on the climb, then need a piss the second I take my seat haha. Take care mate
Haha 😂 takes me 20mins to climb up my 65m crane 🏗️
Not me it looks amazing. I would look forward to climbing that every day.
Enjoying the videos thanks for the look into your world. A quick way to convert centigrade to Farenheit (approx) is double the centigrade and add 30 so 5c = double it to 10 + 30 = 40F
Seriously crazy job, audio is brilliant but you wouldn't get me up there.
Totally different work very interesting.
I almost lost my balance and fell out my bed every time you look up or down lmao it's not that I'm afraid of heights but rather it's the sudden stop at the bottom that really gets me wheezy 😂
Glad you don't have to climb down to put the chains on!
Keep these videos coming man, fascinating as hell. I couldn't imagine being up there!
What a great find. Credit to you as there's no way on this earth you'd get me up there and with no harness. I take it coming down is far easier. The views must be great. Looking forward to seeing some more videos as it's so interesting.

I catch the load myself
Really loving these vlogs and channel good job Andy

Wow, heard you say ya was a tower crane driver but to see this shows me it's not just the driving but the climbing aswell, hats off to ya 🎉
Yeah 17yrs this year but a full 20yrs since starting the job

An amazing video Andy. Forgive me for asking but what if you need a wee or poo.
.
Wee in a bottle or come down the crane
I cant believe you have to climb that everyday. Do you get to quit earlier to get done in order to have time to climb down.
Haha no quit early time on this site lol
watching u climb the crane gives me vertigo lol but I enjoy watching the videos keep them coming

How do you change wipeblades?
I am hanging onto my chair in fear. How do you get used to the heights? Do you do graded exposure… or do you just get thrown in.
Who is responsible for filling the genys? What courses do you need to take I would love to this job,and how long does it take?

I go down for the loo if I’m needing a number 2 but wee I a bottle, don’t have coffee tea facilities up the crane but I can if I want and I stay up for breaks
I’d love to do it 😊 asked years ago but company pulled out. How go about getting lisence for tower 🏗️ crane?
You have to do a 10 day training course
Hey Andy are you going to create more videos? Cheers :)
You need a lift.. ridiculous having to climb up there every day, interesting vid thank you.
Watching these videos has made me wish there was a crane simulator video game.
Brilliant video Andy. I take my hat off to you I couldn’t even do the first ladder 😂
Me neither
Quick question what is your favourite crane

How close are you to Heathrow flight path ?.
Very close
Cool wasn’t sure if you were into plane spotting
If you pass the crane operator course is it hard to find a job with no previous experience?
Andy,what's the highest you've worked
I don't think I could climb that every day blimey xx

What make is the crane ?
Jaso J115.8
It sounds obvious but, do you need a head for heights or does it just become 'normal'?
You definitely need a head for heights and a strong stomach and able to not go to the toilet for 10hrs a day
Is there an emergency exit? I’m imagining a rope you just abseil down the outside?
I would of said what about sliding down the ladder but boots and gloves would soon wear out.
Haha no emergency exit just the way I came up
The 4 cranes building the new Everton stadium in Liverpool, have got lifts on them, well 3 now, Laing O Rourke main contractors,
Send me a pic at jediandy1979@gmail.com
I bet you feel those buggars sway in a wind and when you lift.?
Yeah for sure especially on this crane
I am jealous.Must be a great sensation because in your cab all you can see is the huge jib and not the tower itself.?Just a few inches of play must feel like several feet.
What do you normally do for lunch
Packed lunch 🥪 ! There is a canteen on site selling hot food but coming down and then climbing back up after a meal isn’t great
