If I wanted to watch a boring video, I'd watch my own repairs. I come here to be entertained. Thumbs down.
Are you joking? Because your the one who clicked, after reading the title and seeing the thumbnail.
@@godlikemachine645 You must not know of the great BIG D as in Daniels.
@@godlikemachine645 pin of shame
@@tylerhoovler16 sooo... it is a joke? Was I just whoooshed?
@@godlikemachine645 You were whooshed. Although, to be fair, you have to know who Paul Daniels is to get the context of the joke. Hint: he makes the software Louis uses to show voltages/amperages (among other things).
I've been doing repair for about 15 years and I love that feeling when you already know the issue before you even open the device.
Love the board repair. You are a gangster for still doing them and just not being a cat channel(which I would also watch).
wait, this isn't a cat channel? But Clinton got an offer for a sponsorship.
@@OmniscientWarrior Indeed, I'm pretty sure I just saw Clinton on TV in an Apple ad...
I enjoy these videos, because you actually fix problems rather than throw shit into landfill and expect the consumstemer to buy the latest model of product.
I mean, tbh tho this is a 2013 model laptop, a nearly decade old laptop. Surely at some point you gotta tell the customer, look you might want to start considering the upgrade to a newer computer…
@@bhud98 if the machine suits the customers purposes and all that was wrong was corrosion on a terminal, is an upgrade truly necessary? I do get your point, however.
I love the passion Louis, knowing the chip model numbers is very impressive
I find it annoying as hell since I can't remember my phone number, lock combos that I use daily, and my office alarm system combo.
Miss the old non keyboard power buttons. They at least felt like you were powering the machine, and perhaps avoided this ridiculous nonsense. Learned something today!
These are the videos I love and are a joy to watch. I don’t know why……..
Maybe since it's a pleasure to see a professional at work
I've been following you for 5+ years now (even though I have never owned a Mac product). You taught me a lot about how to troubleshoot. Finally used your guidance to fix this particular laptop for a friend. Thank you for the Years of content, Louis!!!
Very cool! It feels good when you make something work again, doesn't it?

Hello Louis, I've been subscribed to you for a while, love your channel and evberything you do regarding right to repair. Anyway, I'm currently trying to diagnose a problem with my cell phone and it seems that the flexcable that connects the charging pcb to the mainboard has an issue, the connector on the mainboard is missing a pin on one side, I have identified from schematics that the pin leads to the USB_VBUS circuit. My issue is that my phone fails to charge at all. I am not very familiar with what USB_VBUS signal does, but would I be correct in assuming that if USB_VBUS signal is not received by the mainboard, a connection would be established between the charger and the phone? Phone is a Xiaomi Redmi K30 5G by the way, but I don't think that's really relevant, I just wanted to make sure I was heading in the right direction, and if this could be the culprit, to try soldering on a new pin to the board because the solder point is exposed, the pin just broke off it.
Also, if anyone else has any information and could chime in on this, please feel free to! It would make my night!
Thank you for fighting the good fight, since I started following your channel I try sharing the problem with everyone I know, and everyone I tell about it seems to be amazed because they had never thought about it in that way before. If all of us can do our small part in creating awareness of the issue in each of our communities, I have no doubt that in due time, your efforts will pay off, there's just that pesky "in due time" part that bothers me, but I guess Rome wasn't built in a day now, was it?
:D Thanks for putting these videos out there Louis. I respect your passion.
Today I am experiencing a very similar issue with my 2012 MBP and boom there's your video. Pretty sure mine got water in it. Some kinda AI must have *poofed* this video into existence for me and it ain't the first time. Spooky. Thanks for the upload, I did learn some things.
This video has resolved my issue that has plagued my wife for 2 years. The Macbook Air has been repaired under warranty by the "Geniuses" 4 times with 3 main board replacements. Issue always came back. I opened it up and and what do I see. The damn flex cable is corroded OMG. Apple wasted my time and they replaced everything except the track pad, keyboard, and screen. I cleaned the cable corrosion until I order a new track pad with cable. The Macbook boots up now and I no longer have to unplug the battery every time after a shutdown. Thank you Louis.
Thank you Louis, I always find these videos interesting and I like your hot takes, it's always a good time. Would love to see you on the Tim cast podcast.
Louis, I'm glad to see you fixing computers again. I was put down by the constant chatting you do to bring us excellent information, but no repairing going on. So, I'll keep an eye again for your very instructive videos.
Panel gap the size of a Model 3
Dude is a gangster pissing off the two largest companies on Earth in one sentence 😂
Dude- thank you for making this video. I just happened to watch it and then not a day later a friend of mine was complaining her MacBook Air wasn’t powering on. One new flex cable later and she couldn’t be more happy. Thank you! Love your content!
The speed of his mind working to diagnose this issue is very impressive. Thanks for the help.
Finally, a short return to roots.
this was the missing piece, i was able to fix my sisters dead macbook air. thank you so much louis for the stuff you put out!
I missed these videos
Hey Louis, so much respect for you and everything you do. Was thinking the other day: I watch mostly for you, haven’t watched the other guys do board repair. Maybe you could increase their popularity by doing a repair with them, like a gateway drug?
Thanks for putting this together. I reseated the cables on the trackpad and the machine powers up once again!
Thanks a lot ! i have replace the corroded flex cable and now it's working again !
Nice, been watching you for years and not being a MacBook owner, but this knowledge came in handy, was able to spot the same thing when someone asked me to look at their MacBook Air… now just need the part to replace it.
So happy to see a board repair video, this is what brought me to the channel long ago.
The great parts aren't the actual repairs, but Louis's snarky commentary as he fixes them.
yess the man himself is back in the show chair lol good to see you looking well and feeling well hopefully lol
Always learn something in your video and it always help. Visual examination is key 🔑
Thank you.. I can't repair a Mac but your knowledge is invaluable
Great video Louis, always love to learn these types of weird engineering that Apple does
Wholly crap! Louis doing board repair! The reason I first tuned into this fellas channel in the first place! Me watch.
that was the coolest ship ever. and the model 3 gap 😂
Wow, that was the quickest fan spin ever!
Thanks for the video. I finally got to speak to Kevin regarding an iPad that had a bad battery. Nice person. I'll still troll him. LOL!!!
When Louis says "Hey everybody, how's it goin..." like THIS, I always get the feeling he's been really pissed off about something before the video.
Great to see you once again repairing
Thank you Louis, I did learn something
Im commenting to fight the algorithm. Godspeed you Louis
Classic rossman! Welcome back !!!!!
This WAS an Excellent video, and you nailed it!, exactly my problem!
Give Paul's repairs back, please! :)
Excellent video -- thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks, Louis for telling the truth in all of your vids!
I am facing exactly same issue with my macbook air for the last 1 year. Gave it to Apple's authorised service center but they weren't able to tell me the exact issue. They told me that motherboard has to be replaced and gave the quote for 32K INR. But clearly it's not a motherboard issue.
They'll tell you it's a bad motherboard when they can't identify what the real problem is. Shitty phone repair stores do the same thing. Basically if it's outside the technicians diagnosing skills it's automatically a board problem.
Well, to be fair, if you buy a crApple product, you deserve your misery.
As with many of the comments here I admire your passion and commitment...it really pisses me off when people like you have their passion crushed by stupid amounts of debt just to make an already rich landlord more wealthy
Kicking ass, fixing boards, and he is all out of ass...
Louis Rossmann is the Bob Ross of computer repair confirmed.
Nice video .. I will check for corrosion ..
No Dandruff! Good job!
I’m a AASP and we always replace the flex cable and track pad and works like a charm. I see a lot of repair like this a week. Applestore say to customer to replace the logic board 🤣
I wish I had your troubleshooting skills. Has there ever been a repair job where you weren’t able to fix it after trying ?
Your diagnostic process is exactly the same as the generic diagnostic process that a physician uses: Obtain a history, perform an examination, synthesize the data, make a diagnosis, formulate a plan, implement the plan, assess the outcome, rinse and repeat.
At the beginning of the video you sounded like Bob Ross 🤣
Always... Top notch as usual sir! 👌
That's the first thing I check on that model with any power issue.
When you replace the track pad, how do you run the track pad mapper? Its my understanding that the macbook Air requires that for the function keys to work correctly doesn't it?
I missed this Louis 😆👍
Touch of nostalgia creeping in here 😀
awesome Video, Once again Fixed a Device, Ohh whats that The Drive Containing their Data OS, Documents, Funny Cat Pics Family Photos is 100% untouched.
1:44 Such luscious locks
Short & sweet. 😉👍
Fantastic, you are a gift. Thank you Sir.
Awesome video. 1 - where is the cat? 2 - Dare you to sing/rap the explanation!
Maybe not 'exciting' - but fun to watch!
Another great board repair. I hope you're not gonna actually pay all that back debt to the landleech.. move instead!
Thanks louis i learned alot from you thank you very much
I had the same issue, thx a lot
Man, I need to send my MacBook Pro, it’s overheating for no reason. Great video!
About time. Flux and solder. No feline and fodder.
how lucky am i this just might be the reason for my macbook, thanks louis!!
I have no idea what you are doing, but one day I will have a broken device that I want to repair and I will be able to use one of your videos as a small guide.
Love these informative videos
Geez, easy, economical, and environment friendly fix.
Awesome Louis!
Why are you in 92k debt? Will you make a video about it and about leaving New York.
Love ur vids dud even if if it wasn't exciting
hey man, I also have the same problem with my MacBook air a1466, i did some research and i found that the common problems with this model it that it stops charging and turning on due to the charging port shorted and like with that MacBook, maybe the trackpad too is the problem.
Downgraded my A1466 to Mojave and it’s now snappy. Not as snappy as my M1 and my iPad Air 4 but finally it’s usable.
I've gotten used to the bike ride vlogs around NYC.
I came here to show some love to the OG content, since you seemed bummed in the other video.
A classic example of the truth setting free.
Louis, I think these videos will be more popular if you pull a Linus "WAN Highlights", which are more popular than the full podcast he makes. Makes a shortened and trimmed version of that video, and less people will feel threatened by the run time of the video.
If you really trim all the fat, maybe you could release it YT shorts?
I know this maybe a No but do you happen to fix Nintendo Switch? I’d to support you but totally understand that you only work on Mac books
Is it bad that I put this video on just to listen to it while I work? Like a podcast ?
Mom, the cat channel is posting weird MacBook videos again!
It’s the experience you have Lewis !Cristal balls have no place here😊
same macbook model but have you ever facing that trackpad ic is getting extremely hot and keyboard & trackpad not working?...any solution how to solve without replace new trackpad?
After reprogramming efi chip of a a1466 I miss the resistor r6115 near u6100, if I understand, this resistor missing cause no voltage on the line and no power!?
hey brother i have a a1466 where itll get stuck on the loading bar sometimes.. and sometimes itll boot and work fine.. i have tried the ssd in another macbook and worked fine. i have tried all the resets and even swapping the bios chip but no go. what controls the loading part or what could be causing this issue ?
well i loved the video
I have a MacBook Air i recently picked up, and this exact thing happened. Corrosion on the pins AND the flex cable. Diag showed the SMC error. Why the hell does it make sense to have this sensor in here to throw the smc error?
Cheers
Not boring at all.
such silver hair
much detail
WOW
I wish this wasn't an easy fix video 🙃I still have the exact same issue even with new cable and keyboard
One of these pins is not like the others
One of these pins just doesn't belong
Can you tell which pin is not like the others
By the time we finish our song?
OMG i have one of these that is having this exact same problem
Please sir help....i have MacBook air M1 .. i just updated ventura 13.4 then my screen turns black . Everything is ok , siri works properly, just display turns black. Is it smc problem? Because no other physical damage to my display
Which boardview software U used
What's this? A board repair video on a New York real estate channel 🤔
Did you say back rent of 92k?
Let me know when someone remakes this video into rapgod mix or something :)
