Those floor boards are awesome! I want to see every detail on everything :). Servo install location considerations, headset wiring to that central location seems like a great idea, if you went 2 or 3 axis auto pilot, and every other smart idea you've had that I can try and steal :)
What honeycomb sheet are you using and where did you get it? You mentioned more info on the process posted on forums. Would you post the link? Thank you.
Backgrounds a long story but grew up on a cattle ranch and always fixing things. Had construction and ranch service business I ran during from 18 to about 21. transitioned into aviation after starting our mission organization in college and have loved every minute of it. Motor is here and I need to catch up on videos. Will be flying soon. Budget is all relative. We have worked with some awesome companies to keep our costs down, being a non profit, but to replicate would be in the 225k range.
Mostly the carbon is contacting steel and there is either a rubber isolator at contact point or where the tubes run under the floor I am using some thick aircraft chafe tape to protect the steel.
Great idea. How/ where are you attaching the floor boards? It looks like you are removing the tabs? Think you could add a few photos with the rudder cable clearance on the forum or BH FB page? Keep up the great work.
No turbo, but will have a big engine (more on that later) so we should be able to make it into the mid teens fairly easy, it wiill also be used for medic so wanted the option to put patients on O2. I buy my carbon from uscomposites.com. they have a discount section that brings the price down to something manageable, terrible website but outstanding service. Autopilot is Garmin 3 axis yaw damp with auto trim, 507 controller.
@@The-virg Thank you sir. I'm very curious about building a bearhawk. If you have time, could you please do a video on the autopilot and trim systems. Thanks!

Comin right up. 👍🏼
Great video! Bearhawk 5 is high on my list to build next.

Looks like a real nice airplane! Would like to know your background? When’s the motor arrive? What is your expected budget through the whole process?

@@The-virg that’s awesome! Look forward to your missionary content.
We’ll done video
How are you isolating carbon fiber from aluminium parts? Mold details would be awesome.

Nice video, doing an awesome job and great idea on the carbon fibre. do you need to isolate the carbon fibre panels to prevent galvanic corrosion?
Yes they will be isolated on final install. No bare carbon should be touching the steel where it may rub.
@@The-virg thx mate, good to know

Moved and added some extra tabs in a few places. Removed all the tabs along the lower longeron. I’ll post something in the forums. 👍🏼
Was the carbon fiber floor boards just a wet layout?
Wet layup and vacuum bagged.
Lots of questions! Are you going to add a turbo, hence the oxygen? Where do you buy your carbon from? Are you adding a yaw damper?

@@The-virg did you make the CF floor boards from cloth or did you provide the dimensions and order them?
@@Austinmediainc made from scratch off some molds I made. Lots on labor but worth it.
What was that tank in the tail?
Header tank for the fuel injection system.
Looks great. Would/could you build me a set?
Yeah I could. Let me figure out what I would have to charge. Lots of carbon involved.
@@The-virg I wondered something similar but I knew all that carbon wouldn't be cheap lol :) :)
