The jam entitled Sissy Strut also by the Meters is hot 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 dripping with funk and syncopation

Heck yeah! Cissy Strut is The Meters most famous song, but it's not really a "chord song" - it's more single note based, so I skipped that one and dove deeper!
Check out John Scofield and Oz Noy's versions of Cissy Strut - they're killer!
      : )

Saw the meters in 90 in New Orleans... changed my life.. those grooves got in my head and it was all over. The Live on The Queen Mary album for McCartney's birthday is so grooving.Thank you your channel fantastic.

I was picking Greg Kochs brain about one or two riffs/tricks of his he had just put on a short video on facebook a few years ago,It was that thing he does where he frets like the Hendrix chord but then uses his index finger to move around notes on the high E against the whats still left ringing and he said that he stole that and plenty of other stuff from Leo .Coolest part is since Greg gets around a lot of artists, Leo himself chimed in and thanked him for the shout out.

Joe Perry of Aerosmith claims they were a big influence on him. He said the riff to Walk This Way was his attempt at writing something kinda funky like The Meters. I'm sure the funky riff in Last Child is from the same influence

Chris Duarte did Just Kissed My Baby on one of his albums. One of my favorites on it. I didn’t realize it was a Meters tune. (I only have a best of, so not as versed in their material as I’d like to be.)

Great lesson Dave. Great music. Worked a show with the Average White Band Saturday night. They were swinging a pretty funky bat, great show. Keep up the great work

So good; drumming and playing melody/harmony at the same time- brilliant!! So much essential music I don't have; Neville Brothers, Brothers Johnson, Freddie King, Albert Collins(speaking of Teles)- any of those you could hang with, yes please. Really dialed in lessons, keep awn!! ♫ Ü

So I watched a live performance of Just Kissed my Baby and Leo Nocentelli definitely had his foot on a pedal, but a distinct auto wah was also going on, so it could be both at the same time.

Wow awesome. Love the Meters. Hey Dave can you check out "the chicken" original version by James brown? The rhythm chords. I've been trying to figure them out by ear. That g 7 chord you hit in look ya py py sounds like it. Would love to get your insight.

AFRICA has a very similar riff to "Say what you will" by Fastway.
I wonder if Fast Eddie was a Meter's fan.

I want more in depth tutorial on the deep psychedelic framework/aesthetic of George Clinton and the Extended Family, in particular some of the tracks from "Electric Spanking Of War Babies" Please and Thanks. People need to know about some of the guitar work on George Clinton's 5 part Family Series compilation. That MUST BE DONE for Young Guitarists.

Plagal cadences and root y6motion of a minor third. A bit like Keith Richards, but slightly more sophisticated. It really is rhythm guitar, you know?
