Are you being sarcastic? Oh dear God, I hope so. If not, I fear for your psychological wellbeing. I almost have no words to describe how awful this writing is. First of all, it's just plain lazy. The writers don't even attempt to provide any reasonable motivation or backstory for the "evil head" villain. They just hand wave it away with one line from Dr. Zub saying "oh yeah, for reasons we don't understand, the head is just evil okay?" So of course they don't need to provide any justification for why Dr. Zub feels it's necessary to keep the super dangerous evil head just sitting around the office, unlocked and without even a warning sign or office memo. The writers were literally like "okay, we need a bad guy. how about there's just some evil head that's just evil for no reason? how did he get there? i dunno he's just evil and they just keep him there. BAM - we got our villain!" Secondly, the "humor" is just asanine, while lacking any internal consistency. Listen, I don't expect the jokes to be great, as it is a show for little kids and kids will laugh at anything remotely wacky or slapstick. I don't mind absurdity or immaturity. I think the Terrence and Philip bits on South Park are hilarious. Freddy Got Fingered is my favorite comedy. But this show actually insults the intelligence of the average 5 year old. Seriously, the jokes don't even make any sense! One example: After Ted is injured, Dr. Zub reassures him that he will make a full recovery because he "has a good head on his shoulders". Okay, I see the irony in using the figure of speech 'having a good your head on your shoulders', (which means that a person is a highly rational thinker), when it is literally the opposite of Ted's decapitated state. But for the joke to be funny, it cant just be a play on words. The actual words need to be logically consistent in their own right. Meaning, the statement he makes to Ted should provide reasons that support the likelihood of Ted's full physical recovery from the accident. But the figure of speech Dr. Zub used doesn't make an ounce of sense. Why would somebody's highly developed logical reasoning skills make them respond positively to surgical operations? If your friend required surgery for a broken leg, would you tell them, "You'll be all better after the surgery buddy! After all, you have such highly developed critical reasoning skills!" No, you wouldn't, unless you were a lunatic who had lost their grip on reality. It doesn't matter if you make a pun not, it's just totally irrelevant. This show is a nightmare, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that any members of the "creative" team responsible for it had ended their own lives by now. If you think that is lazy, then you think fiction is lazy. _“the "humor" is just asanine, while lacking any internal consistency”_ The humour is not asinine, it is a pun bonanza. It is goofy for the sake of being goofy. These characters are crash dummies, they run into walls for fun. Of course the comedy should match that tone. Slapstick and silly dialogue, colourful and breezy. _”This show is a nightmare, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that any members of the "creative" team responsible for it had ended their own lives by now.”_ This show is a pilot episode of a series that was never made, but it is fondly nostalgic for those who loved it. The atmosphere was more fun than most of the kids’ shows that did get made, especially the soulless CGI animation that dominates the present landscape of child media. You need to take a chill pill dude. You’re ranting like Junkman.
damn I used to have this on vhs along w/ the toys. I used to watch this almost every day while my mom would nap. This is the only episode I ever knew or saw.
This is the only episode that was ever made. It is made by "Savage" Steve Holland who also drew and animated the Whammys for the 80s game show "Press You Luck" and he wrote and directed the awesome John Cusack 80s movies Better Off Dead and One Crazy Summer.
This is one of those things that were a huge part of your early childhood that gets pushed to the deepest parts of your mind as you get older only to come rushing back as an adult completely without warning.
I was another one of the freaks who memorised this as a kid. Was obsessed with it. No idea what happened to the VHS or why I even thought of it just now, but it's awesome that this has been uploaded - thank you, you legend.
@@MrJames-tw3so I had a crash dummy car that crumpled on impact, and the dummies' ears, eyes etc would pop out lol. It must have come with that toy set! The company definitely missed out on something good here, because I must have watched that one tape at least 300 times! If they made more, kids would have loved it.
@@anthonyreed480 oh I totally forgot about the ears popping out,wow totally forgot about that. I didn't have the car(we weren't well off and I had two brothers) but a friend did so I got to check it out. What year you born, here 88'. I really enjoy childhood in the 90s,I just wished I knew it was not gonna last forever(the 90s) and things would change. As a kid I thought the world would always be like 1994,I didn't know yet about how the 60s and 70s weren't like the 90s or the 00s and onwards would be different ya know?
Watching this is so surreal. I haven't thought about this show in over two decades, but every second i watch brings back flashbacks to back when i was knee high to a grasshopper and it's like i could remember everything about it perfectly after all.
Same here,I actually had to wait till either really late or wake up early to be able to watch it,since I was the youngest, nobody else in my family would watch it,sometimes my dad cause he was just so cool and let us do whatever made us happy long as it was harmless,I remember him telling after opening the toy and VHS, he noticed how little tape that was in the VHS he told it probably be less then a half then a full length movie,I had no idea how he knew that(back then)
the crash test dummy toys were my absolute all time favorite toys as a kid. I had forgotten all about them and now I wish I never got rid of them. I'm 34 and I really want to play with my old crash test dummy toys. damn aging.
I just turned 34 and been looking for this VHS since I lost it a year or two after getting with the toy. I thought I never see this show again,I feel a lot nostalgic for the toy and video but also just life in the 90s. it was to.me the greatest decade to be a kid in. Not to much technology and just enough ro have fun, like the arcade and super Nintendo and 90s movies and on and on.
This is actually the first TV cartoon made with CGI graphics in May 1, 1993. It's previous both to VeggieTales (of the same year) and ReBoot (1994). There was Les Fables géométriques in 1989 but that was different.
With this kind of animation being something that can be done on a good modern PC it would be great to see some fan try to re do this. We need the crash dummies back!

When I was a kid, this VHS came bundled with a toy. However, due to language laws in Quebec, it was the French dub. Being 3 or 4 at the time, I didn’t understand it but watched it 100 times regardless and I kind of made up the lines and the story based on what my imagination could come up with. Now, over 30 years later, I come to RUclips, on a whim, and discover this. So many memories rush back and it’s crazy this core memory was reignited. Thanks for posting this!!

Man, i have watched a lot of certain cartoons but not at the point of remembering every line! You must have watched it again the second the episode ended
As I kid I got these dummy toys and it came with this film. Me and my brother loved it and kept re watching it. Just came to my mind about this and found it on RUclips.

interesting,I watch a bit of VT but found it to religious, since it was a Christian kids show, but it was still good. Reboot however was really good, the colours and storylines were really unique.
I used to have a VHS copy of this and this was so fun to watch, as much as it was playing with the actual toys and dummies! I had the taxi cab and the flip over truck at least, possibly some other ones too as well as slick and spin. I also still have the SNES game that basically follows the story line to find and defeat the junk man. It really should’ve been more popular than it was.
Never saw this as a kid but I would have loved it. As a kid me and my brother had almost all the toys. I had the black stock car that would break apart when hitting a wall. For the 90's they were very impressive toys, not if you lost some pieces hahaa!

@@Mintyfresh152 Exactly, which is why I took issue with OP's statement: "This was much better than it had any right to be". It wasn't better than anything. It was far shittier than your average kid's TV show, let alone quality children's programming, such as Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, The Muppets, Adventure Time, Rugrats, Duck Tales, Hey Arnold.

@@AMurderOfLobsI dont think critical commentary on kids shows is ur thing. The joke is that it is a stupid pun. If that went over your head...you might be a dummy.
I remember my mother buying this at a Payless, not the shoe store. Never saw an action figure that came with a movie! I still have that VHS though it's riddled with tracking lines. Very smooth animation and a great vehicle for the Junkbots and Pro-Tek suit line.
My absolute favorite toys growing up and I still consider them the best toys ever made. Had this taped off Fox Kids and watched this endlessly. Awesome.
When I was 5 yrs old I got this free on VHS,it came with the purchase of one the action figures(Which were amazing). And I was the youngest in the family,so my two older brothers thought it was too kidish for them so I watched it alone. I don't know what it was about this cartoon but it had a very odd effect on me,like no other 90s kid show did. I would watch it all the time when I had the TV to myself. I still don't know why I was so fascinated by this show and especially this episode I had on VHS,which I just learned now was the only episode made.
Man, this was awesome as a kid to me and my sister. I swear, I had both Slick and Spin, we had a motorbike AND a car and it had bumpers that could make the wheels pop off and the car separate in half. Plus the two dummies had a button on their back or something and all their limbs and head popped off. Also have the SNES game that went along with it. The 90s were a wild time.
This is so nostalgic... it gives me childhood vibes and reminds me of being inside on hot summer days with my grandmother watching this. I ended up with the action figures at one point I remember too
It was, it was part of the safety craze in the early 90s, the show was inspired by the toy line at the time (I had the yellow crash car with Slick and VHS cassette of the animation) but the craze didnt last long, I think it was around a year.
I had this on VHS! It came with a crash test dummy action figure I got from KB-Toys when I was 5. The action figure would pop off all it's limbs when a button was pressed on the chest.
Holy crap thank you for uploading this!! These used to be my favourite toys when I was a kid. I remember going mental when I saw the vhs tape in the store. Childhood memories right here. I think the last time I visited my parents place I tried to find the tape😂🤣
Here in Italy we didn't have this animated show, but we had the toys, and i used to be sooo much into those. They were among my favourite toys ever. I think if i'd seen this show back then, i'd have completely lost my goddamn mind xD.
1: attach body parts 2: establish command center 3: get an agent 4: organise troops 5: grab some lunch (lol) 6: take over world (M. Bison = OF COURSE!!!!!!)
I had this on VHS in germany. The part with the limousine was entirely missing in the german version, but instead, before the credits, there was a PSA that told you not to be a dummy and wear your seatbelt.
No It's Cause Of The Bomb Proof Test Part Of The Scene, Bombing Might Have An Impact On Some Countries So It Was Removed Or At Least That's What I Think 🤔
I forgot about the PSAs,they were great tho,and I did do what they told me to do,my parents even noticed they didn't have to tell to put my seat belt on anymore, they had no idea why.
@@phaeton01 oh yeah so 90s prices,I got one those mini hand held arcade machines they had back then,it was pac-man got for 50cents,I felt like I rob the guy, even though he was atleast 65yrs old and probably just wanted to get rid of it.
Man, I can't count how many times I watched this as a kid! Weren't there more episodes than just this one? Or perhaps it was just additional PSA's that I am thinking of. I even had one of the toys - I really wanted the car with the airbags, but my parents never went for it.
You didn’t miss much. After crashing it a few dozen times the car didn’t hold up very well as a car. Even the gentlest push forward would cause it to collapse. It got to be very frustrating after a while.
I just had a nightmare and Junkman was in it, I came to check to see if he is as scary as I remembered and now watching as 31 year old man I can confirm he is still scary to me haha.
This takes me way back. I used to have the toys and the set when I was very young. And they were so addictive. But sadly I don't have them no more because I've been playing with them so much they got worn down so much that the limbs didn't reattach to the body properly or they got lost.
LMFAO! ok around 14:26 has got to be the BEST TROLLING Video ive ever seen! now looking at this video 30 years ago & its still amazing to find such dated trolling!
I can not fucking believe my mom was letting me watch this on repeat as a 3 year old. It explains why my life turned out this way lol. I wanted to be these guys so bad
"It would appear our crash planes have simultaneously gone out of control at the same time!" This line drove my younger brother insane because of simultaneously and the same time in the same sentence lol. We somehow overlooked the pilfered and stolen bit from earlier.
I just watched this for the first time in over 25 years and I STILL remember several of the lines.

BAM - we got our villain!"
Secondly, the "humor" is just asanine, while lacking any internal consistency. Meaning, the statement he makes to Ted should provide reasons that support the likelihood of Ted's full physical recovery from the accident. If you think that is lazy, then you think fiction is lazy.
_“the "humor" is just asanine, while lacking any internal consistency”_
The humour is not asinine, it is a pun bonanza. It is goofy for the sake of being goofy. These characters are crash dummies, they run into walls for fun. Of course the comedy should match that tone. Slapstick and silly dialogue, colourful and breezy.
_”This show is a nightmare, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that any members of the "creative" team responsible for it had ended their own lives by now.”_
This show is a pilot episode of a series that was never made, but it is fondly nostalgic for those who loved it.

M8 same haha.. I had loads of the toys as well..
yea came in a package with toy and vhs and i still have the vhs.
Same haha I wish I saved all of mine
I remember the vhs was packed with a dummy.
This is one of those things that were a huge part of your early childhood that gets pushed to the deepest parts of your mind as you get older only to come rushing back as an adult completely without warning.
I used to have this on video it was and still is awesome

did you get the VHS from buying one the dummies action figures?
@@MrJames-tw3so I had a crash dummy car that crumpled on impact, and the dummies' ears, eyes etc would pop out lol. It must have come with that toy set! The company definitely missed out on something good here, because I must have watched that one tape at least 300 times! If they made more, kids would have loved it.

I'm 34 and I really want to play with my old crash test dummy toys. damn aging.
August West they were the best, not sure where mine are at
I am 35, close to 36 now and I had some of the action figures and the stuffed dummy toys. Good times.
Wow.. Nostalgia is overflowing 🤯
Oh god yes the animation and all is still awesome even in 2022
This is actually the first TV cartoon made with CGI graphics in May 1, 1993. It's previous both to VeggieTales (of the same year) and ReBoot (1994). There was Les Fables géométriques in 1989 but that was different.
I was sitting on the sofa eating cheese dorritos in my pajamas watching this as a kid! LOL

BAM - we got our villain!"
Secondly, the "humor" is just asanine, while lacking any internal consistency. One example:
After Ted is injured, Dr.
If you WERE being sarcastic, then yeah - agree 100%.

I don't know what it was about this cartoon but it had a very odd effect on me,like no other 90s kid show did. I would watch it all the time when I had the TV to myself.
