I love the church. Every time Jim preaches. It like he brings me down. We're not doing enough, not good enough people. I really like the other pastors .

Maybe it’s God moving you to some change, with God by your side.

What is the Christians purpose in life? I think our individual purpose is to seek God, to come to know and love Him. The Venn diagram (circles of Needs, Gifting, and Church) is a church-led project which may not at all work toward seeking God. The vision here is that the institution of the church does the good deeds of providing for the physical needs and the individual supports the church but I fail to see how it enables us as individuals to seek and find God. I think the work of the church ought to be to teach the Bible and in general, to equip us for our individual journeys.

You can’t effectively seek God, if you’re not doing those three things.
“The Church” is not an organization of a building. It’s the people!

The concept of choosing a leader based upon "values" is nonexistent in the Bible. Nothing has value apart from our relationship with God through Jesus Christ and to try to divide that relationship up into pillars of value is absurd to me. It's deciding which gifts of God are most important to us and then live our lives in pursuit of those "most important" gifts. It loses track of the Giver of those gifts. Primarily the subject of our leaders appears in Proverbs and in that book, the word is "righteous", not "values", not "policy" but righteous. But if we preached righteous, then we wouldn't be supporting Trump would we? We didn't vote for righteous, we voted for a businessman, we voted for someone who likes to fight and to get revenge. We voted for a pretend Christian.

The God I know cares about justice, mercy and the marginalized. Odd that things like racism and being kind to foreigners were not mentioned when endorsing Trump. The one thing I can relate Trump to in the Bible is a man of lawlessness in 2 Thessalonians 2, and the people who believed the lie. In John 8:44, Jesus refers to the devil as being the father of lies. Also In John, Jesus referred to the Spirit of truth. How then does God do good with a man that builds his popularity based on lies? Are we under judgment? I wish Flatirons could help me understand this. Abortion is not the only issue in the world, people are dying for all kinds of reasons.
