The purpose of the RY signal in RTTY was to enable accurate tuning of the tones so that the terminal unit could decode them properly. If you examine the Baudot code, you will see that the signal consists of mark/space reversals. Back in the 1970s, when I started on RTTY, it was common for several lines of RY to be transmitted so that the equipment could all be set up for a qso. These days, using MMTTY and the websdr at Utwente, I find that by the time I have tuned in, the transmission has stopped.

it's not 60 second's worth of demo software, the software runs as long as you want, the waterfall is limited to 60 seconds unless you upgrade.

He is using a receiver that's used for TV reception using software called SDR Sharp for android phone SDR is called Software Defined Receiver no you can't transmit with a receiver
