Thank u for ur video i just did this job today!!! So far so good a little tedious by got it done I broke both of those plastic pcv lines and I swear they both snapped barely touched them I could of repair them with vaccum hose but any leaks from these hoses u might never get rid of the code dealer items on those hoses and orifice valve ur video was very helpful thank u I would of never figured it out!!! It did take me abt 3 hours to do though and I had 2 screws left over lol that I could not figure for the love of god where they go !!!
I have a 2020 in the shop with the same code. The turbo has an oil leak. Oil through the intercooler and all the plumbing into the throttle body 3 year old car and this happens??? @@HooptiesGarage
@@TheRealBlacHood Customer didnt want to spend the money to fix it. I cleaned everything up as best I could and sent them on their way. But the turbo needs to be replaced

Yep it's a special tool or you can take a Dremel like I did but a screwdriver type notch and do that but the pcv is inside the valve cover it has to come off to get to it.
Unelected bureaucrats called the Air Resources Board (ARB) are to blame for this nonsense. Changing a pcv went from $3 to $3k; auto dealer service department lobbyists eating good.
Wow, mines been doing that for a while just figured my piston rings were shot so I was just gonna drive till it gave 🤦🏽♂️ imma try this Wait my blow-by has smoke maybe it is rings ?

@@HooptiesGarage was it difficult to remove the valve cover itself? I removed all the bolts and cleared everything but I just can’t seem to pry it off any tips?

Did you have an issue prying off the valve cover ?
Did you use a particular video on how to remove the cover?
I can't believe GM is even still in business with the junk they put out these days. Great video though!
Honestly as a die hard Chevy guy I agree. I'll stick with my old stuff 😁

I used vice grips and took the tamper proof bolts right out. Didn’t break anything. You might try it next time!
Same here, a small alligator type vise to break them free and then you can finish removing the bolts by hand a hex wrench
Did any lines break? How was it removing the injectors?
@@emmcee476no lines broke. I did not remove the injectors. I believe they make a special too to pull the injectors
I truly believe a lot of these issues are caused by not keeping up with timely oil changes. Small orifices will clog quickly running dirty oil
Not true. I kept up with my oil changes and I don't drive the car much
Today iam working on this an thank You for great job
Did it fix the issue
@@gushardy4421 I for got about this project i need to watchet again and give point of viet yes doeit that's the problem

why in the hell couldn't they design that to pull out from the top🥴🤣
I know my pcv valve is bad.. just don't have the cash to have a shop do it. Would I be bale to do perform the repair myself?
Video helped a lot major thanks

would love a video on how to get to the valves to do a cleaning service.
Wonder if engine flush would clear those valves
I own a 2018 Cruze luckily it stays in the garage
That is a headache for to change a valve , if this is the problem on my mom’s new car I hope this isn’t the problem.
It really is a huge pain just for a pcv valve. GM has been ignorant about the pcv system on these cars for years
Vice Grip! #ThankMeLater
Positive vacuum lol
What is the part number, thx for the video this valve was clogged
do you know if the 2017 chevy malibu would have the same parts as this? you mentioned there being a change for newer modles wondering if that applies
I think 17 still has the plastic valve cover but im not 100% sure if you have a black plastic valve cover then you have the older style.
@@HooptiesGarage 17 has this newer design. I'm trying to diagnose mine.
@ssspencerjr I have a 2017 also. Did you get it fixed?
Putting back the vacuum pump is the most intimidating part for me how was that ?
It has to line up maybe it turned a little
I clean the throtle body and it goes away come back next year, but i cant get the pcv hose disconnected from the pcv valve
Yep it's a special tool or you can take a Dremel like I did but a screwdriver type notch and do that but the pcv is inside the valve cover it has to come off to get to it.
@HooptiesGarage no ,it's a 2016 the screw is not the problem the hose connection was I had to make a makeshift tool to get the hose off ,
@@HooptiesGaragedo you have to replace the gasket from the valve cover?? Did you put something on it like a sealer?
“Positive Vacuum “?
Never heard of positive vacuum
Same here but i didn't say anything
If taking off the cover is involved, then that's the part I want to see.
Changed pcv valves ,it keeps killing no 1 spark plug ,I suspect piston ,buts been smoking even more now after pcv, smoke is dark slight blue ,
I would suspect a injector over piston unless it has a ton of miles
@@HooptiesGarage 198k
Could this Valve keep the car from starting?
Not usually but could cause it to go into limp mode etc
I can’t believe they have tamperproof bolt on Pcv valve
To5lly ridiculous they call it one use they want you to replace the entire thing every time you have to take it off
what did you use to test vacuum on the dipstick tube?
A smoke machine
Have you found a bit for the tamper proof bolt? If so, where can i purchase one?
Gm sells it I don't remember the part number or name but if you search gm tamper proof screws it will show up in the search
Search EN-50956. only used to INSTALL replacement bolts tho
you didn't say how many miles were on the car
Around 80k
so you can't change it without opening the head?
No it's attached underneath valve cover
How long did this take to fix? Dealership told me 5 hours
That's prob about right. We can do it faster since we do it all the time but I do believe the "book time" is right around there
What scan tool is that? Thanks for the video by the way
That is the launch v431
