  • **Id suggest also adding an inline fuse between the battery terminal line, and the master switch. This will give some extra protection to this connection. I added a simple in line fuse a couple months after I built this box**
    Heres how I made my 12v, portable power box. Equipped with 2, Hot System LED's, a 2 port high speed USB charger, a cigarette lighter port, a volt meter, and 2 charging posts. I used a 12v, 12ah battery, which will soon be swapped out to a 12v lithium battery. I walk through each step of the build. If you looking at building one, check out how I did it.

      The length of the battery power wire is just long enough to toss a inline on it, also cause of how it taps to the meter before the fuse block but good video though👍👍

    A fantastic project. The exposed charger terminals are a bit exposed and easy to short out. May I suggest that these be replaced with banana terminals as they are in effect just another accessory outlet and can be utilized as the charger input when needed. Also you could charge through the cigarette plug socket as long as your charger was connected correctly to a male input for this socket. Another choice for the exposed bolts [although at bit more costly] could be insulated pole terminals [red and black] for the charger clips to be attached and wou9ld be available also to connect any accessory you need that does not have fitted terminals and has bare wire ends. Furthermore now that lithium iron phosphate smart batteries are readily available then one of these swapped in instead of your lead acetate battery would be lighter more durable and long lasting and could deliver more power in the available space.

    • @precisionanglingYT
      @precisionanglingYT  2 года назад

      I plan on building an updated version of the box, including most of the things you listed. Definitely going to use banana plugs for the accessory posts I used bolts for. I already have an 18ah Lithium Amped Outdoors battery. Going to splice most of the grounds together as well. Thanks for the suggestions!!

    It’s probably a better quality when you assemble it yourself but you can get boxes like this already made for about 50$ which just require a battery.

      Yup, likely better quality, and the ability to customize without having to add to the original cost!

    Nice video with a good explanation on how you designed and built it to your needs. I liked the photo of the schematic at the beginning of the video. I think someone may have or will suggested a few changes, but you have to make things work with what you have available. Well, my suggestions are maybe using Anderson Power Poles for "some" of the connections, create a " pig tail" for adding additional batteries in parallel if you have a need, piggy back the negative connections between the switches, and a in line fuse near the battery.

    • @precisionanglingYT
      @precisionanglingYT  2 года назад

      I have heard all the suggestions, and applied most of them. I plan on making a shorter quick version with some of the changes.

  • @walleyeye

    One question.
    How do you know which size fuzes to use for each switch and accessory?

    • @precisionanglingYT
      @precisionanglingYT  3 года назад

      Basically, any fuse under 12v should work, if your using a 12v battery. If you used a 30v fuse with a 12v battery, it may not break if you have a surge from the battery, potentially causing harm to whatever device your running!

    Hello I saw your video, I am really interested on building one, now I want to use it to power tools like a drill and s cutter, using the same system, I am from mexico so getting lithium deep cycle batteries is quite hard and expensive, any advice?

    • @precisionanglingYT
      @precisionanglingYT  3 года назад +1

      I don’t have any advice for getting lithium batteries to Mexico unfortunately. My best advise would be to double up on a sealed lead acid batteries if them are easier to find. You can hook them in parallel so they’ll still be 12v, but it will double your amp hours. Example. If you bought 2, 12ah SLA, connected them parallel, you’d have a 12v, 24ah capacity! Hope that helps

    • @precisionanglingYT
