I love chicken soup! In Scotland we add pearl barley to it whilst it cooks, instead of rice or noodles later. It’s gluten free and adds a beautiful thickness to any soup or stew.
This video brings back good memories as my dad always made chicken soup when he spotted that one of us was getting the sniffles. He would serve it with either homemade pasta or rice, same as you do. For a twist he would turn that chicken soup into a tomato soup and serve it the same way. Tomato soup with rice is delicious and it is still my go-to comfort food for when I'm not feeling all that great. The only difference is that he would cook the rice in the soup so the starch acts as a thickener. I'm tucking into a bowl of it as I type this - made just the way he did it. He was a single father of four, working full time and homesteading and I am sure he would have been a big fan of your channel, even though he didn't speak a word of English. He would appreciate how you do things and would definitely try a lot of your recipes. He was a great cook and a baker. Btw, I can't believe Hannah is one year old already. How time flies.
Good morning! Baby girl is a year old?! Wow… that time flew by! We have enjoyed watching all of your children grow and bloom! As always your video was a wonderful mix of helpful tips and an abundance of love for your family. You are a blessing to all of us that get to share your life! Hugs from central Ohio!
Elizabeth is wonderful to watch! I love that your kids get a well rounded self sufficient education at your side! I’m also going to try and make gummies soon! Thanks and enjoy the season!
One of my favorite Sunday afternoon self care is watching your video! I sip my coffee in the silence while the toddler and baby nap and the big boys play outside! I so enjoy the opportunity to glean from you and your wisdom. I have recently started my own RUclips channel after many years of it being a dream. I have had a blog and did videos on FB in the past. I teach sourdough classes to other ladies and how to cook from scratch, being a homemaker. Thank you for taking the time to share with us! I am now commenting via my new account/channel. I recently learned how comments affect the algorithm and want to make sure your getting all the benefits of your hard work!
Thank you for the gluten free recipes! As a celiac person, it is difficult to find recipes that are made with gluten free flour in mind. I can't wait to try these out!
Happy New Year! I am making pickled ginger today. The Ball book says the ginger will turn a rosy hue over time. I like the added health benefit of beet root powder! Love your channel.
Can’t believe little lady is 1, I started following you back at the beginning of 2023 for the pantry challenge as I watch Becky from acre homestead. I remember watching your birth story and thinking what an amazing woman you are to labour while Adam sleeps and you get on with chores! So much respect for you. I have 2 children and had to be induced with both, my eldest who is 20 this Valentine’s Day 😭 because he was 2 weeks over due and then my daughter who is now 14 because I had gestational diabetes and over here in the uk they don’t let you go passed your due date due to increased infant mortality. So I’ve never had a natural labour and I can honestly say just from my experience there’s no chance of chores getting done or my hubby sleeping, it was the most unbelievable pain but totally worth. Anyways a happy belated birthday to your beautiful girl this past year has flown by. I look forward to the coming year and seeing what joy it brings us xx
Good afternoon my dear friend wishing Hannah a belated Happy Birthday!! Wow, the year just flew by, Iam going to try your recipe for the gummies, who doesn't love gummies! Love all your immune support recipes today. Enjoy your Sunday and look forward to next week my friend!!
Hello Jessica, from Chile, As usual in all admiration, and I was SO happy to see you making special food for yourself! I love to think that you can sometimes sit down together with your family to a meal and also have delicious and nutritious food that is good for you. Best love for you all!
Thank you for sharing some gluten free recipes! I really like the idea of freezing waffles for later-- I have a waffle maker but have never tried to make a big batch to freeze. I mix my own GF flour with 6 cups brown rice flour, 2 cups Potato Starch and 1 cup tapioca starch. My favorite recipe is for GF pizza crust which I also use as a flat bread. In a mixer bowl, mix 1.5 cups GF flour, 1 teas baking power, 1 teas kosher salt, 1 teas xanthan gum (or 2 teaspoons gelatin if you don't use gums). In separate bowl mix 1.5 teaspoon yeast, 1 tablespoon sugar OR 1 tablespoon honey and 1 cup warm water. Let the yeast/sugar/warm water mixture proof for about 20 to 30 minutes until it's risen and bubbly. Then mix the wet with the dry ingredients and blend with a dough hook about 3 minutes, while mixing the dough, slowly add 4 Tablespoons Olive Oil (or light tasting oil of your choice). The dough should be a thick wet plaster-like batter (NOT DRY). Cover and let it rise in a warm spot for about 30 minutes. Pour the dough/batter onto a baking sheet or pizza pan covered with parchment paper. Dip your fingers in warm water or coat them with a bit of olive oil and gently pat the batter into the shape/size you want it. DO not expect to knead it-- it will be very wet and not anything like the texture of wheat based pizza dough. The less you press it down, the more airy the crust will be. Let the crust rise another 15-20 minutes after you press it out and preheat oven to 425 degrees. Bake 10-12 minutes. Then add toppings if using for pizza and bake another 10-12 minutes. I make pizza crusts in advance and freeze after the first baking, just like you do for waffles. It's so handy to have on hand when I want bread or pizza. 😊
Hi Jessica. I live alone, do not have children and do not have a garden but I love your channel and am inspired and learn so much from you. I love that you refer to your children as children and not "kiddos!" Happy Belated Birthday Miss Hannah-can't believe she is one years old already-how time flies. Have a happy and blessed day.
Good morning Jessica! I always look forward to Sunday since right after church service I look forward to spending time with you and your beautiful family. May the peace of God be with you and your family this week as we head closer to the holiday. ❤❤
Wonderful video! Great ideas for living a healthy lifestyle by incorporating healthy food choices in your daily meals. Love the little ways you add bits of healthy foods into things your children will like. As with the chicken I love that you have so many ways to use leftovers in new tasty meals, wasting nothing yet avoiding being stuck in the same old reheated food. Spending time making those healthy gummy treats that are devoured in half the time----wow! What better way to show your children that you love and care for them. Love the many ways you incorporate the freeze dried foods into your daily meals.
I love that you wear a hat in the house, I keep it cool so I do the same along with a sweater or sweatshirt. Gummies are so fun to make although I think a kid swiped my little tool to put the mix in the molds.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful blessed life. You are so inspiring. Hanna is such a cute 1 year old, how time flies. Could you do a video chat about the reality of homestead challenges. I've seen others do that, but would love to see your perspective. Have a blessed week. 😊
Happy 1 year birthday miss Hannah. I have been slowly changing to homemade home grown food. I have a great pantry with two shelves almost full. Your videos are not only inspiring but educational. You always find a way to use ingredients and not waste them. Thank you
Wonderful video!! I am trying to make gummies today. I heard that you could use a plastic ketchup bottle, with the narrow nozzle, instead of the little droppers to make the job easier. Thank you for the great information you put out every week. I feel very blessed by finding your channel.
Good Monday Evening Jessica 😃 I have been extremely sick with whatever crud 🤒 is going around NE Ohio. Lord have mercy; you and your family do not want it!! I ordered organic elderberries and a few other items so that I can make my own elderberry syrup! I was late in doing this so of course I caught the crud 😔 😑 I have several recipes and will use ingredients from each. After this crud 🤒 experience I will definitely be strengthening my immune system daily! The gummies sound great! 🙋🏼♀️ I was wondering what does Adam eat for lunches at work? Does he pack a lunch with your wonderful homemade leftovers? I would imagine so, but just wanted to politely ask. Have a great week! Look forward to this coming Sunday’s video. Did the bonus Wednesday videos go away? 🦋 Edited to say Happy Birthday 🎉 to Miss Hannah 🌸🌼🎀
I can hardly believe Hannah is 1 year old already! Happy birthday, and God bless you, little one! You have such a precious family. Have a wonderful season of celebrating our Savior!
Thank you Jessica for the gummie videos. My grandchildren seem to catch everything this time of year so what better idea than to make some gummies. I enjoy my Sundays with you. Look forward to next week. Have a wonderful week
💚 Thanks Jessica, for your Sunday morning vlog! Great meal prep for the week, love the gummies! Wow, Miss Hannah is 1 already! That year flew by. Blessing of the Season💚
My Indian friend introduced me to pickled green chilies and green mango with chilies pickles recently and they are delicious! Hot and sparky. I love ginger too and I think I'm gonna try out this recipe of yours. Ginger in an oriental style dish is like candy to me.
Happy Sunday Jessica😊 My husband enjoyed pickled ginger, too. I never thought to create some at home. I'll have to give it a try! Happy 1st birthday to beautiful Miss Hannah🎉
Thanks for the ideas! I'm going to make some of those gummies this week because I'm worried about the same thing from all of the gatherings. I always enjoy your videos! Have a great week
Good morning, I love your content! I thought I would share with you how I do my gummies. I started with a dropper like you used and quickly decided it’s just taking too long! I have a container from a food service place that is used for ketchup or mustard. It holds 12 oz. I found that this goes so much faster 😊 I also use this for serving my honey.
💝Happy Birthday Hannah! 💝 Time sure does fly by. Jessica, I love your videos. They are always informative, fun and a pleasure to watch. Thanks for sharing! Blessings to all of you! 💙💙💙
Happy Sunday Jessica! I agree, meal planning and prepping are so helpful in making a much easier week, with a lot less stress. I LOVE chicken soup and probably should make some for Mom to help with that cold she's developed.
Sending you some love for sharing with us all these wonderful ideas and peaks into your life with the kids. Happy birthday for miss Hannah ❤ we are thinking about having a baby in the near future and seeing your babies definitely makes me more eager to take this step 😁
As always, another great video. So informative. I am trying to raise elderberry bushes, but our desert sandy soil here in Northern Michigan is not as cooperative as I would like. So I will have a bit longer of a wait for my harvest. I completely agree with preventing the virus from getting a hold of you, by keeping your immune system boosted.

Little Hannah is just so precious! Her little jibber jabbering is absolutely adorable! I miss having babies around, all of mine are grown and gone.

Such an act of love making those small gummies ❤❤❤❤
What a sweet ending with your oldest and Miss Hannah together!💝
Jessica, Hannah is getting so big! Her flirty smile made my day; I had to show the Man her cute little face and it gave him a smile also.
Thank you as always for sharing! Always look forward to Sunday afternoon here ❤
