I actually just watched a video by a channel called Fascinating Horror about the Thunder River Rapids incident. I recommend it to anyone wanting to see a longer story about it. What happened was so absolutely horrific and tragic. It's wild too because when I think about those types of rides, I think of them as being the type that even people who are usually scared of rides can enjoy. My heart goes out to the loved ones of those that were lost that day.
Fascinating horror is a brilliant channel
Thats a great channel and episode
fascinating horror is a brilliant channel!
I heard that the victims were basically turned into hamburger meat with devastating crushing injuries
He’s got a slightly more upbeat video about Action Park, as well.
4:05 😳 that guy definitely rode the ride!
I worked at dreamworld and, although I had left before the tragedy, I still talked to back of house and there was no way that ride should have been active as the main alarm to security was had long since failed and ignored. Owhs regulations put the blame at the feet of the owner operators but for some reason, a junior seasonal engineer was blamed. And the E stop had been tripped at least 2 times that day before the tragedy. 2 means the ride should have been stopped but was not on orders. A junior staff member does not have the authority to do this, only upper management.
That last one didn't open as Dragon Challenge and wasn't Harry Potter themed. It opened as Dueling Dragons and had a fire and ice dragon. It was rethemed and made to work with Harry Potter when Hogsmead opened in 2010.
“Class”-Action Park, Traction Park, Friction Park. Legendary in NJ
The Thunder River Rapids ride incident was huge news here in Australia, an absolute tragedy. I remember going on it when I was a kid in 2004 and again in 2006, I loved it at the time.
The ghost train fire was even worse. Many classic old rides were banned and destroyed at Luna Parks in Australia after that. Like the river boats, rotor and the giggle palace.
Dueling dragons was a fantastic ride but the new hagrids motorbike adventure is amazing and a great replacement
So that's what happened to dueling dragons. I remember visiting isles of adventure 1999 and riding the red dragon first then subsequent years Blue dragon to find that both of them were about the same speed and I haven't thought about those roller coasters in many years since wow. A lot of these roller coasters I heard of in many of the ride across America rollercoaster documentaries Discovery channel used to broadcast back in the day. Those got me really into roller coaster tycoon and since I have been a veteran advanced player I still play it on my Mac to this day. Wonder whatever happened to Son of beast to find out in this video after so many years, I always wondered what happened to some of these great names that have since they were under construction, and now hit the record books.
Thank you for uploading this!
I’m a Survivor of Action Park!!! 😂The Alpine slide was the Best!!!
Hell yeah we live on Long Island and used to go to action Park almost every weekend remember the caves when used to jump off the cliff.... If you had the wave pool.... I remember riding the golf carts and taking ice cream sticks to make the governor go faster!!
@@salv638 Haha! Good Times!!!👍😁💜
@@salv638 That grotto area by the cliff diving was awesome.
You didn't say that the 10-year-old who died on the Kansas City water slide was the son of a state representative.
I was thinking about that one. Absolutely horrible.
The double dragon was on bring it on in it to win it !!!!!
As far as those dragon coasters in Florida concerned they also had problems when they took the rides off line for 8 months while they upgraded to harry potter theme and because these rides were so sensitive and requiring so much maintenance they never did work properly after those alterations either
And when they wanted to put in the haggred ride they needed the space so they just took the dragon coasters out altogether
Defunktland did a great episode on Action Park
I used to work at Action park NJ. The wave pool was the single most dangerous pool in the world. Especially with lame lifeguards.
@Reno Figaro yes the real action park. Or
D.o.a park or action park with the ambulance ride attraction. With the Alpine slide-n-die.
I worked on the dune buggy track. Man we used to tear those things up when everyone left
I actually miss those stupid tank battles
The grave pool
Interesting, thanks
the ride at Universal was called Dueling Dragons and opened in 1999. It was re-themed to Dragon Challenge in 2010 when it became a part of the Harry Potter world. It was torn down in 2017 to make way for the Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure coaster.
Well, it's a good thing that I can't physically do rides anymore. I was severely injured in a ride in central Florida. My friend, and I were on a train that just went in a backwards circle, it wasn't very fast either. The car in front of us derailed, and caused our car to flip. I ended up with broken ribs, severe bruising, and a fractured wrist. My friend broke her arm, and strained her neck. No perminant damage. Life happened is why I don't ride anymore.
Its crazy to think I rode the Perilous Plunge at Knott's before. Thank god, I survived!
I see you're getting into the movie recap craze😂smart!👍
All these rides look fun but scary love you vids tho!
The trebuchet does not look like fun on any level!
Dude the Thunder River Rapid ride was sooooooo fun! I miss it.
That thumbnail! I rode THAT!!! Action Park in NJ.
Anyone remember the Zipper from any Carnival in the US back in the 80s and 90s. Talk about whiplash, or the older Gravatron?
I loved the zipper 😭 my friends and I would make our cart spin constantly by rocking it back and fourth so the entire ride we were just pinned to the seats because of the g force haha. What a ride.
My friends loved the zipper…..I did not. Also, older…rock o planes.
@@JackMatthews Good times. Not sure if that ride is still available at Carnival's?. Lots of people got hurt. I always liked that ride.lol
Entire called dueling dragons At Universal and Islands of adventure because I go there all the time in Florida and I heard people talking about how much they miss it
Action park was real? I just saw the movie w/Johnny Knoxville in it and thought it was a joke they made up.
There is a documentary about it. I had never heard of it. Many people were injured there
The Thunder Rapids ride flipped and they drowned as it was too heavy to lift. It was also a major understaffing problem , not enough monitoring the ride, and little training on how to operate it correctly.
They didn't just drown they were mutilated.!
El Paso Texas magic landing lost a friend who was an employee died due to an accident on the roller coaster 😔
Dangerous Dueling Dragons.
Oh perilous plunge , you will be missed
I almost drowned at Action Park Vernon Valley N.J in the 80's. That place was a nightmare.
Me and my mom rode the son of beast back in 2002 believe. We survived but damn was it jolting asf. I had a watch the clasped and it came fully detached after the ride. I also was barley able to fit being tall my knees actually hit the bar the entire ride.
The Bat... the original from the 80's at Kings Island.
So at 18:59 to 19:05 a shot is shown of what is supposedly Do-Dodonpa in Japan, but it's incorrect. That shot is of the Hypersonic XLC from Kings Dominion in Roswell, VA.
My favorite Amusement park. Used to love staying at their hotel and taking the train to the park only 2 minutes away. Think I spent more at Hotel arcade then the Amusement park.
Ahh R.I.P CALEB 🙏😇❤
Adventureland in Iowa had a similar fatal incident within the few years. A brother died quickly and the 2nd one later in the hospital. So sad 😭
I have actually been on the Cannon Ball Loop. The section had small gapps and were tough on your shoulders
holy smokes... a trebuchet lmao
I survived Verti-go in Cedar Point Sandusky Ohio It was 2001
OMG i remember son of beast I rode it when it was new and I rode it a bunch that day.
A wooden rollercoaster with an upside down loop? You kidding me???
Human Trebuchet sounds like some death metal band
Son of beast man good times iam 40min from kings island. That. Coster was insane
i laughed at the 3 bc the string snaped
The rapids ride in dreamworld has been removed a couple of years ago
I dont see how anything could ever go wrong with tossing people with goddamn catapaults.
So where is common sense when you really need it?
@@romeoslover817 No idea. I think the sock thief runs off with it.
I’m not sure why the video claims that dream world ride was know one’s fault. The court cases and stories tell a different story.
A very sad loss of life for the wrong reasons.
The Cannon Ball Loop is absolutely hilarious. It wasn't even smooth inside. Only a jackass would go down that.
The Shockwave. Kings Dominion in Virginia. It's killed multiple people for years before finally shutting down.
The son of beast and beast were my least favorite , scared me the most lol , my all time favorite is the adventure express lol ! And the runaway Reptar in the kiddy area ! Which named somthing else .
Love from Nepal 🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵❤️🥰🥰❤️
Action Park 🎬
The inspiration for that classic Simpsons episode.
most of those rides make me motion sick
U need to do your research better!
I live in Australia and the ghost train fire at Luna park wasn’t a electrical fire😂 it was lit by bikers in a attempt to extort the park owner into selling it as it was a huge money earner.
It went up fast because of the timber and paper mache used to make it scary.
I remember the ride quite well tbh.
At the time the media said a electrical fire but it was on the word of a bent cop who was “running” the investigation.
Caro from abc Australia done a whole doco on it and the fire was LIT!
iv been on the catapult at mt olympus WI dells
Oh my god..........Glas I don't do that anymore.
The first one, HOW IT EVEN EXISTED?
omg that 10 year old getting decapitated! water slides are just too much risk in general.
You should read the report. Witnesses described the accident. They described seeing the boys headless body sliding down the slide in "red water" and then his head came down soon after looking like "a wobbly football full of ketchup"
Actually there is a long back story about that one.
It's called the Verruckt Water Slide.
I think the RUclips channel Fascinating Horror might have it.
Just search for it. It's very interesting.
9 G's JC lol
I feel like the trebuchet could've worked out well if they properly weighted it, just have a series of removable weights. Shit would've been boss.
3:30 I had to stop watching when it said "#13, Human Trebuchet."
i must retain some faith in my species.
Fuck lol 😂😂
I actually repeated outloud
"Human trebuchet" the fuck 😂😂
Alpine slide, and skate park concrete slide, rarely you come off the ride uninjured Road rash
What about the catapult ride in Ottawa where the guy got killed?
Had a feeling Action Park would be on this list. Just a feeling. Never been there. Just know about it.
Dreamworld (Australia) is still a billion-dollar operation that was shut for months after the accident in 2016 and fined millions for many failures, and the ride was removed immediately after the investigations. New staff with inadequate training in the event of an emergency seemed to be a major issue but to provide context they have around 1M visitors per year and 4 died in a horrible accident in 2016.
Banned books: Fascinating!
Banned media: Entertaining!
Banned Rides: ....good riddance....
What about when Homer got stuck in the H2Whoa?
9G omg
@M 3 01:35 "up to 9 G´s of force when going around the loop". Fighter jet pilots during extreme maneur
I want to get all these rides and put them in one theme park have everybody sign a waiver and enjoy themselves I say rebuild action Park
3:21
Is it a coincidence that 9/15 of these crazy rides are American ?? This says a lot about American culture.
The USA has the most theme parks out of every country though so I don’t think your argument is fair
@@daniellecombs hmmm i know right 🙂 In fact i also thought that i am being too judgemental. My bad
Go figure 2011 was the year i visited the last ride of this video in Florida
I don't get it why the hell is Action park still open
It's not. It closed in 1996 then opened back up in 2014 then closed again in 2016.
@@Blacklighttheshapeshifter really I'm glad
@@Blacklighttheshapeshifter it wasnt open in 2014 to 2016 but there is still a ski resort
@@f1-mag okay but they were asking about action park. That has nothing to do with the ski resort
@@Blacklighttheshapeshifter yeah but action park wasnt open between 2014 and 2016
Ahh, dangerous park rides … My childhood in a nutshell 😌👉 🤕👎
There were no legal limits introduced for wooden coasters after Son of Beast.
That one did make me scratch my head.
Human trebuchet 🤦
Nicht mein Ding 👎lieber 2 fl Wodka und da geht es bergauf und bergab und es dreht sich alles ! Intressantes Video Gruß aus Brandenburg 🇩🇪 bleibt gesund 🇩🇪
A TREBUCHET????????? WTF
the last one was 50% wrong on facts but w/e
Amusement parks should be renamed "thrill seekers" park.
Who’s here from tik tok
Action Park ...water park area was really only dangerous if you were an idiot. I know, I was one of those idiots. I got hurt a few times and it was always because I was doing some dumb shit.
Why even in thrill rides such as a roller coaster that supposedly made for fun purposes,to have a war between countries creating bone crushing experiences?! 🤔
I rode SOB and was a SOB, beat the crap out of wife and I
It makes irrationally angry that he keeps calling it The Dragon Challenge for the last one 😂 it was originally called Dueling Dragons until it became a part of the Harry Potter world, then it was renamed to The Dragon Challenge. You uncultured swine :P lol
America = No risk no fun 😂
there isnt alot of risk of going to a theme park its legit more dangerous to take a bath nor drive a car
Adventure lands river ripied killed a 12year old boy
Jesus is the only way into Heaven turn from your worldly ways ask Him into your life cleanse you from ALL unrighteousness make Him your Lord & your Savior one day YOU will enter the Kingdom of Heaven
There are no rules on how tall and fast the roller coasters can go... 🤦
