Yes, and unlike living near the equator, up here in the higher latitudes, winter sun never stays high in the sky. It is lower down closer to the horizon, so the sunshine on sunny days shines more directly into your eyes. You need sunglasses more often on sunny winter days than on sunny summer days.
@ 19:51 The truck you see has a plow on the front of it for plowing snow. Some are businesses. 😢Many people have them on their personal trucks and plow snow for a side job. It’s really good money. As you can see, snow is everywhere. As kids, we went door to door with our shovels and shoveled snow from people’s sidewalks and driveways.
Usually each home would have it's own security system for the house. The sunny, cold days in the snow are actually some of the most beautiful. The sun makes sparkles in the snow and there is a very fresh feeling to the air. It's even more beautiful when there are icicles in the trees.
US Culture TRIVIA: They were cooking the beef on what is a cross between a grill and a fire pit. Many Americans have fire pits in their back yards. They make them by digging a hole and lining with bricks or just make one above ground with bricks. You also can buy metal ones and some are very ornamental. Many people also have a separate BBQ grill and/or meat & fish smoker. It is very common for friends and family to gather around fire pits or come to eat BBQ meals. Americans also may take their BBQs to sport events and cook meals in the parking lots. It is called 'Tailgating' because they often use the back (or tail) of a vehicle to setup the BBQ.
Greetings from Virginia 👋🏾 A home by a lake is not necessarily $3 million here. You can find waterfront properties for as little as $300,000 depending on the location (city & state. Houses in the South & Midwest tend to be less expensive than on the coasts & big cities), the age of the house, the size of the house, etc. If you can access HGTV shows, they have shows like House Hunters & Lakefront Bargain Hunt that will show different sizes & types of homes in locations all over the United States. You’ll see the prices, too.
I grew up in the midwest US. The snow is so bright, that you definitely need sunglasses. When the sun is shining on the white snow, it can get bright enough to temporarily impair your vision. Often referred to as snow blindness.
There are many places across the USA that do not cost millions. They have lakes trees lots of activities and nature. Do not judge the cost of living here by big cities or their metropolitan areas. We are not all rich so there are many affordable areas to live. Many RUclips videos just focus on areas that people earn a six figure wage. In fact the majority of the country people earn under the $100,000 wage. Do not believe you need to be a millionaire to live well in the US.
Where i live in America vs we do not have snow, subways daily passenger trains. We do have other beautiful places but never judge a country by someone's vacation videos.
Thank you for sharing your reaction to this family's journey to Boston This family appears to be having a great vacation! This video is giving you fellows just a tiny slice of life view of life in America (Boston is unique 😊) The USA is a very complex country with many economic and social classes combined with various religions and racial/ethnic groups. In addition there is the rural/ suburban/ urban divide and the climate/ ecosystem divides.
~~The breakfast was typical. I eat 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon and 2 slices of tomatoes every morning with coffee. When I go to a diner and have breakfast, I like to get something different. Sometimes I will get pancakes (and what you saw on top the pancakes was sprinkled powdered sugar - I do not like it). Sometimes I get French toast with scrambled eggs. Sometimes I get breakfast in a bowl all mixed together. ~~Pudding is Black pudding and is a kind of sausage, except that unlike normal sausages, you make it with blood.
They were cooking the meat on the rim of a fire pit, normally in the US people use a grill, barbecue or smoker using either charcoal, wood chips or gas. I read somewhere that they were cooking the meat South African style. Boston is in the New England (northeast) part of the US where it gets cold in the winter. It’s cold enough that the sun usually doesn’t melt off much or any of the snow, they have to wait for the temperature to warm up. Many people in areas that get a lot of snow attach a snowplow blade to the front of their truck and make money clearing driveways. Most towns and cities have the city owned snowplows to clear the streets themselves. Colleges have hockey teams, that’s often where professional teams recruit their members.
Pancakes aren't sweet and they aren't high in calories. They are light and fluffy cakes. But when you put maple syrup from Canada and butter (the little pad laying there) on them, the calories increase. But breakfast could be worse with sausage and bacon.
It’s definitely not normal to live in that big of a house or drive a tesla. It is possible to get rich in America, its even easier to ‘look rich’ by taking out loans or leasing things so it looks like you own nice things but really all you own is a bunch of debt you have to work to earn off or the bank can reclaim all your stuff
Its gray when it snows but the snow stays on the ground for a few days, even with the sun out. The sun makes it melt faster but it still hangs around on a cold, sunny day.
Fountain drinks on average cost about $0.10 per glass/plastic cup. The most expensive part is the actual container/lids/straws, is what one pays for. In my youth growing up back in the early 1980's in my teens, we used to go to a local business that were for youths, they would bring in various local bands to play, sell snacks & non alcoholic drinks, they would have pool tables, and video games. It was a place for youths to gather over the weekend, & stay off the streets. I also kind of felt that although it had positive aspects in a way it was a version of an adult bar. Only thing missing was alcohol. Were even allowed to smoke cigarettes, although they didn't sell tobacco products. I recall I decided I was bored with drinking the same flavored sodas, so asked if she would mix my drink, which she did, I called it kamakazi, which later became a trend after others tasted my mixed soda. It wasn't until the late 1990's before the soda companies discovered they could mix flavors & increase sales. I should have patented the concept lol ;) It's most likely when the road was named "Gay", it's meaning was "happy", instead of homosexual, like a cigarette was once called a "fag", during WWII, now it's a homosexual term, usually "faggot". Like the word "Queer" mean't odd, or qirky, now it too has sexual annotations. This is what happened with the Flag of the army of northern Virginia, (Confederate battle flag), when it got hi-jacked by a para-military organization called the KKK, (Klu Klux Klan).
That was a fire pit they were cooking on in Boston. I've never seen anyone cook on one before. They're just a container to enjoy a fire while sitting outside.
You can live off credit here, so just because someone has a large home doesn’t mean they don’t owe money for it. Also depends how you immigrate and what part of the USA you go to help with life style. Also different requirements for immigrants depending on country your from. White Americans have more generational wealth typically. But if you strategize well you can build wealth here typically.
Oh my gosh, you just said something about being thankful for our support. I went to check how many followers you have and couldn't believe it! For some reason all this time I've been watching you guys I've thought you had a huge falling, haha! You have a great personalities and a great dynamic. I hope the rest of the world can see you and have a chance to decide if they want to follow or not.
Thanks! You guys kept me company during the IT outage at my job! Also I really like how you treat the difference in the cultures with respect. Even if you see something as haram you still see the aspects you do like about America :)
Security is the Police Department, small towns like that have their own police department. The area I grew up was really nice with its own police department and the officers knew absolutely everyone. They knew who belonged and who didn’t and if they saw me and my best friend walking too close to dark they would tell us to go home and would make sure we got there ok. Like if they were our dad. If an area has enough money to have its own force they pretty much are like having security. Since there’s hardly ever any crime they’re basically babysitting everyone. Also, gay actually translates to happy. It used to be used a lot for saying someone was joyous in other decades.
Not everyone gets rich when they come to America, but I like to think their lives have improved. I had a friend who could eat whatever she wanted and not gain a pound. Wish I had those genes. Black Pudding or Blood Pudding is a sausage that contains blood from a pig or sheep I believe. I couldn't get past the blood part so I didn't try it when I was in the UK.
Pancakes themselves aren’t fattening. The fitness community make a version with protein powder very commonly. Stats: One medium pancake (5" across) made from scratch provides 93 calories, 2 grams of protein, 15 grams of carbohydrate, 0 grams of fiber and 2 grams of sugar. One large pancake (7" across) made from scratch provides 186 calories, 4 grams of protein, 30 grams of carbohydrate, 1 gram of fiber, and 5 grams of sugar.
Those pancakes were not 5 inches across, though. And they were far thicker than a regular pancake, as well as being twice as large. Pancakes do have sugar and white flour, making them nutritionally dubious. The eggs and bacon have better nutrition unless you plan to run a marathon later in the day.
There are many houses on lakes and the ocean. Beautiful places on Long Island, in suburban NY. VERY peaceful and beautiful, yet close enough to commute to the city to work. Ideal lifestyle is an apartment in Manhattan and a country house for weekends and summer. Your children have the best of everything! By the way, can you share your life in Algeria? We'd love to see.
One large pancake is usually about 188 calories, more once you add syrup, but even then nowhere near a thousand calories. Westwood, a suburb of Boston is expensive, but there are still nice homes for $500,000 to $600,000. Higher than other areas of the country but once you get farther out from a major city, they’re less expensive.
If you guys ever visit America, the Amtrak trains have routes that runs from east to west. There a few videos on it that I've watched, and the ride seems to cozy and beautiful. It's definitely something to experience someday.
I really hope one day you both and all your family get to visit us here in the States. There are so many of us that would love to show you around and to see your reactions to EVERYTHING! ...as for "clean" food eating there are so many options available now....these guys just decided to try the breakfast foods America is known for.
That was a snowplow on the front of the truck, alot of private owners in the new England area can get paid to go around in the winter, and plow *snow from the parking areas of businesses and private residences.
Guys it's a plow!! We have snow here in the winter. Those who can put plows on their trucks. It not only saves money but you can ,ake money. If the snow is really bad the city might even hire you.
Boston is the defacto main city of New England but New England is made various Suburban Towns of many. Even in the other states that surround old Boston Massachusetts. NH is the most New England Free
The pickup truck had a snow plough installed on their front, these can be purchased, I believe as I recall, that even Harbor Freight sells the snow plough fronts for truck installation. When they scrape the roads the snow is pushed to the sides of the road. During the day as temperatures climb the snow melts a bit as the road heats up. The mushy slushy snow refreezes at night, thus it becomes more compact into dense ice, instead of powder snow. It is the harsh winter temperatures, & the hot summers months that help cause the roads to crack, especially asphalt, along with the high use of rock salt sprayed on the roads to help melt the ice. It's also the reason why it's recommended if one lives in such an area, if not included to also purchase weather protection packages on your vehicles, as they spray an anti-rust coating underneath the vehicles to help prevent excessive rusting. (I did this in my youth), coated underneath vehicles, put polymers on the paint, & stain proofed the fabrics. (I also restored & protected vinyl awnings in the same years. Basically spraying a combination of liquid polymer's & plastisizers to help restore, or protect from the elements, as the sun's UV light destroys the plastisizers in vinyl, cost less to prevent than to replace. Keep in mind being close to the Atlantic ocean, the salty air is horrible for vehicles, as the salt air becomes acidic aiding rust development.
Mascarpone is basically an Italian cream cheese; it's used in a lot of dessert dishes, but I never would've thought of pairing it with Nutella & French toast....To be honest, I'm not a fan of French toast, so I think I'll stick with desserts that I'm familiar with. And I loved the music that played (Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper;" HIM did an amazing cover).
Boston is far away from the equator, it gets lower levels of solar radiation in general, in the winter the angle of the sun rays produce even less solar heat, so its cold.
Massachusetts is very safe with many good jobs in health sciences, hi technology and finance. In January and February, its very cold. The snow covered landscape can be very beautiful. But its not the right time of year to make a trip to see the northeast. People live there, not for the winter climate, but for the safety and security and some of the best public schools in the world that provide for their children. The female in the video ..... considered the city boring .. but as her male companion observed .... people leave South Africa because its not safe. The parents did the right thing in making their kids as safe as they could be. Although Miami , New York City , and L.A have more year round fun.
Whith the pancakes, it's butter cups, ..some people like that, instead or with sugar sirup ! But most people (I guess) eat it with sirup ..idealy real maple sirup ! ;0)
You can buy a train car, turn it into a two floor house of your own and then have Amtrak tow you where you want to go. Your pay per mile and then for storing at the rail yard until you tell them (I think you need to give 24 hour notice or something) that you're going to anywhere in the country you choose. It's what I want to do for retirement. The old cars are cheap. You need to get it to a place to them gut it and build your house and then get it put in the tracks. You need to check it out! "Tomorrow I'll ride my house from Minneapolis to Chicago and then Philadelphia from there whenever I feel like leaving.". It's possible to do and you don't have to be rich if you're doing the work on the car.
Nee York had laws so all homeless have a bed, however some homeless still choose to not use shelters for many reasons, some valid like thieves or head lice from using their cots, some are their own issue (drugs, alcohol etc cannot be in shelters).
MOST homeless are so because they are their own issue, as you put it -- no one wants them in their homes. Mental illness and addiction, mostly. When they ARE given free housing, they trash it. Sad.
You gotta wonder how they get all the drone shots. They act like they're barely making it, on their last exhusted leg. Yet they are flying a drone too?
This location outside of Boston...is not north. This is northern USA but not the north. Canada surrounds the north and this is a larger country than the USA. You can't imagine the cold up north...and it's NOT cold all year, it melts for the spring and summer and fall too. And, the sun comes up and it's still cold. Their pudding is not a sweet dessert. It's just a fancy sausage. Marscarpone is a sweet cheese used in desserts like Tarimisu. My advice is, don't go to the US as some nutter will shoot you. Come to Canada. No guns allowed but only the cops carry if necessary. We have a huge community in B.C. and they are all growing and healthy people. B.C. is the warmest province and that is where your people go when first coming to Canada.
The "divide" in America is rather hot at the moment. This election has kicked it into overdrive, stoked by an out of control ..everything, and emotionally based approach to social politics. In my opinion
Americans don't eat beans for breakfast that's English. It's cold blood pudding and its Definitely English. These really art typical American restaurants or food. And they're also very pricey. That's a snowplow on the truck for clearing driveways and parking lots.
I think they were rich to begin with. I live in the US and i probably couldn't afford where they live let alone move to a different country and buy a house of that size.
Boston-born here, but have lived in Florida for 45 years. Boston's a great place to visit, but not to live unless you love high taxes and high prices. Natives of Massachusetts are jokingly called "Massholes", LOL.
Why is it that all the “life in the USA” always seem to concentrate on the East Coast or LA. Come on guys, try a trip across the Pacific instead of the Atlantic, and start in San Francisco and go North up the coast stopping in a few small towns in Oregon and Washington, turning East at Seattle. You will find wonderful people, landscapes not cluttered with high rises. And technology companies that believe in green around their campuses!
We have laws and programs in place for our foreign friends who decided to come live here but you must pledge loyalty to the USA . help with getting homes, jobs English classes, driving lessons an more one day when you get to come home you'll see
Breakfast: Mascarpone is a fresh, soft cow’s milk cheese with a lightly sweet, rich flavor that is originally from Northern Italy. That is what was in the French toast with some chocolate. Black pudding, it is not a pudding as Americans would call a pudding, American puddings are soft and sweet. Black pudding is like a hard sausage mixed together with "Haram ingredient...pigs blood" It has oats and a bunch of other things... I am not Muslim, but I would hate this. Gay St: Actually in the 1930-50, the word Gay meant Happy or Fun, it was common to know a girl with that as a first name. Shame really, I am not against Homosexuals having a "private lifestyle" not in my face. But the things I am angry about is they took God's Rainbow and made it a sign for them...and of course...the word "Gay". Cyber Hugs.
Very true! The neighborhood you see in the drone shots is a rich neighborhood. There is so much land for each home! In my neighborhood, the houses have perhaps five to six meters between them. We have 7 to 8 meters in front of our house for a lawn and 10 to 12 meters behind the house for a back yard. Houses have a living room, kitchen, den, and three or four bedrooms with one and a half to two bathrooms. (A half bathroom is just a toilet and a sink.). Americans do tend to have steady jobs and predictable paychecks, so they can buy their houses with a mortgage, paying 10% or less when they buy and putting the rest in a mortgage to pay slowly over 30 years. Cars now cost $30,000 to $60.000 and people can pay them off over six years, or “lease” the car and pay a monthly fee and never own the car. Some Americans never actually own the cars they drive. My house costs about $300.000 now, but we bought it for $200.000 in 2005. It will be paid off in a few years. Families will also buy their furniture and other big purchases on credit, paying them off slowly. You can buy anything on credit now, and it is common to owe several thousand dollars in credit cards that you ever pay off. Of course, the money you borrow by using these credit cards is not free, You may pay 25% interest each year on your credit card debt. Mortgages were 2-3% when we last refinanced ours, and are much higher now, but below 10%. Many Americans look far richer than they are. The last car we bought, we paid cash. It is so uncommon to do that the salesman did not even ask us how we were going to pay. They make money by having you finance the car, and most people do that. I never thought we would be able to pay cash for a car, but we have stayed out of debt (except our mortgage) for so long that we were able to save that much money. It is highly unusual for someone who just works for a salary to do that.
All these videos that say this is what life is like in the USA, are not really accurate. There are a million ways to live in the USA, so it is different for everyone. The USA is so big and there are so many things to do, and places to live, it is amazing. What these kind of videos show is what it was like for the people in the video in the USA, so it is only how they saw it, other people who come here will see it differently. For example, if you come to the USA and you visit New York, you will have that experience, but if you visit Chicago it will be totally different. And if you visit any smaller cities like Peoria Illinois, it will also be totally different from Chicago or New York. And the prices on things like food and hotels is also a lot cheaper in the smaller cities. I tell people to stay at a hotel at a smaller city near a big city, and rent a car there, then drive in to the big city to visit, it will be much cheaper. I also tell people to not just go to the big cities like New York and Chicago, go to some smaller cities, and meet the people there, and eat there, they have good food, and it is cheaper. And visit a city or two in the heartland of America, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, etc.
If you guys want more subscribers you need to talk about how great america is...we are proud of our country...or least we used to be before Trump and his MAGA lie machine
Believe me as a Canadian it can be -20c and still need a good pair of sunglasses.

In the deep of winter, with low humidity, the coldest days are the clear ones.
Infact, snow blindness is a thing. Especially in the arctic. Clear skies, bright sun and reflective snow can literally sun burn your retinas.

I feel that wholeheartedly!😂😂
The Mascarpone cheese that was used in the French Toast has a sweet taste.

Yeah, that was a college hockey game they were watching.
Yes and Boston College is known for having good hockey. They are often among the best in the nation.
If you guys ever visit America, the Amtrak trains have routes that runs from east to west. There a few videos on it that I've watched, and the ride seems to cozy and beautiful. It's definitely something to experience someday.
The American Dream, get an education and work hard and you will be successful.
Not necessarily....
Education and willingness to work and change jobs. Upward mobility.
I really hope one day you both and all your family get to visit us here in the States. There are so many of us that would love to show you around and to see your reactions to EVERYTHING! ...as for "clean" food eating there are so many options available now....these guys just decided to try the breakfast foods America is known for.
A big breakfast usually means you don’t have to eat again until dinner/supper in the evening
The thing you saw on the front of the truck is a snow plower. It pushes snow to the side ❤
Boston is the defacto main city of New England but New England is made various Suburban Towns of many. Even in the other states that surround old Boston Massachusetts. NH is the most New England Free
I guess for those of us who live here, it is just "LIFE" !
I've seen that round style grill in videos from people living in France and Australia before.
The pickup truck had a snow plough installed on their front, these can be purchased,
I believe as I recall, that even Harbor Freight sells the snow plough fronts for truck installation.
When they scrape the roads the snow is pushed to the sides of the road.
During the day as temperatures climb the snow melts a bit as the road heats up.
The mushy slushy snow refreezes at night, thus it becomes more compact into dense ice,
instead of powder snow.
It is the harsh winter temperatures, & the hot summers months that help cause the roads to crack,
especially asphalt, along with the high use of rock salt sprayed on the roads to help melt the ice.
It's also the reason why it's recommended if one lives in such an area, if not included to also purchase
weather protection packages on your vehicles, as they spray an anti-rust coating underneath the vehicles to help
prevent excessive rusting. (I did this in my youth), coated underneath vehicles, put polymers on the paint, & stain
proofed the fabrics. (I also restored & protected vinyl awnings in the same years.
Basically spraying a combination of liquid polymer's & plastisizers to help restore, or protect from the elements,
as the sun's UV light destroys the plastisizers in vinyl, cost less to prevent than to replace.
Keep in mind being close to the Atlantic ocean, the salty air is horrible for vehicles, as the salt air becomes acidic
aiding rust development.
Black pudding is made from beef blood- very British.
Black puddng= pig blood sausage
Black pudding is made from pigs blood mixed with oats and spices
Two pancakes that size with butter and syrup is about 630 calories
That was a very expensive diner, even for the Boston area.
Pancakes are served with butter pats, and syrup.
Wow we couldn’t wait to get out of New York crazy place. Subways is a sandwich place.
Private truck for plowing snow that was a red snow plow on the front
You don’t throw ice….that’s not the right kind of snow to make snow balls and throw at people. I don’t know what they were thinking.
Algeria does not have black pudding. 54 years old Navy veteran and i never saw it here in the US.
Blackberry pudding is a sausage made from blood and rice
It is butter with the pancakes.
Black pudding and white pudding are types of sausages.
In america we out butter and Maole syrup on pancakes
I don’t know if it’s allowed but maybe one day people can send y’all packages of stuff like pudding. Thanks for another great video
Tesla has had autopilot for a while now. It just now is getting to the point where it can pretty much drive itself anywhere with you doing anything.
Just wish I could understand what the two of you are saying in your videos. Would make them so much more interesting.
They fly across the ocean, take a train to Boston, and have lunch in a pricey Mediterranean restaurant (your kind of food) - 🤣
Blood pudding isn’t really a pudding. It’s a sausage made with blood.
Heck if i know, every state is so different an ive only lived in 4 so far.. 😅👍
Oh wow!
The "divide" in America is rather hot at the moment. This election has kicked it into overdrive, stoked by an out of control ..everything, and emotionally based approach to social politics.
In my opinion
A tesla can drive itself or you can drive it
Black Pudding is a blood sausage.
Americans don't eat beans for breakfast that's English. It's cold blood pudding and its
Definitely English. These really art typical American restaurants or food.
And they're also very pricey. That's a snowplow on the truck for clearing driveways and parking lots.
Subway was scary and dirty place years ago. I understand it’s much better now.
I think they were rich to begin with. I live in the US and i probably couldn't afford where they live let alone move to a different country and buy a house of that size.
That is not American bbq. That’s S.African grilling
Kind of, barbecuing in America includes grilling over coals or open flame as well as smoking. Semantics.
3 pancakes with syrup is about 400 calories
Health codes for restaurants are very strict and inspections frequent conducted by the health departments.
@@philmakris8507 😂
Boston-born here, but have lived in Florida for 45 years. Boston's a great place to visit, but not to live unless you love high taxes and high prices. Natives of Massachusetts are jokingly called "Massholes", LOL.
From Gloucester, Massachusetts and my family refers to the state as " Taxachusetts ".
These people are rich.
No way! I can get to the airport on the train for less than $4, and park my car forever for free. It's onky 25 miles, but still!
Note not your normal midwestern living this is how the rich east and west coastal cities live. Not poorer people live in USA
We don’t need security in most of the us
Why is it that all the “life in the USA” always seem to concentrate on the East Coast or LA.
If you own a business or you have a college degree, you can get a great paying job to live this lifestyle
11:45 It isn't even cold. His breath would be making clouds if it was much below freezing. These south African guys........SMH.
Cyber Hugs.
Not everybody is rich.
That pudding they're eating is actually more of a sausage made with pigs blood.
Everybody who works hard can get ahead. But not everybody gets rich. That man passed out at the train station, is not getting rich 😊
Black Pudding is made with pig blood. 🤢
Don’t feel jealous of those people only idiots on electric cars.. and you can get a house on the water for around 250,000 in some areas
If you guys want more subscribers you need to talk about how great america is...we are proud of our country...or least we used to be before Trump and his MAGA lie machine
