      Concerning the PHEV vs Inline 6; Put them side by side with a PHEV full charge in EV mode. In 25 miles, the PHEV will use 0 gas but the battery will be depleted. The inline-6 gets 25 mpg combined so it will have used 1 gallon of gas. Any further driving and both the PHEV and inline-6 will operate on ICE at 25 mpg combined.
      I just filled up at $3,27 per gallon.
      The 17.8 Kwh battery only uses 80% but with charging inefficiencies it would take ~ 15 Kw to fully charge. Based on my electric rate, taxes, fees, I pay 0.20 cents per Kw ( most areas pay more) or $3.00 to fully charge the PHEV battery. There are many reasons to buy an EV or PHEV but in this case, saving money is not one of them.

      @@K03sport We have no variable rate here. And the actual rate is what the entire bill is ( rate + tax + fees) divided by the number of Kw used. Typically variable rates are only found in places like California where daytime rates are extremely high and night time rates are lower (30-45 cents per Kw). There is no such thing as 0 cents per Kw or anything much lower than 13-14 cents when fees and taxes are considered.

      @clark Kent. are you saying the efficiency and money saved and the co2 emission is better with the Toyota Highlander hybrid at 36mpg combined as against 26 with cx90 combined and 50 mpge cx90 phev total ?

    • @clarkkent9080
      @clarkkent9080 Год назад

      @@drmuthuintegrative-lifesty4639 Apples to apples. You should not compare hybrids to PHEVs. The Highlander is NOT a PHEV.
      Look at your last electric bill. Divide the total (including tax and fees) cost $$ of the bill by the number of Kwh used and that is your true cost per Kwh of electricity.
      It takes 16 Kwh to charge that battery so multiple that by you cost per Kwh calculated above and you now know how much $$ it cost to charge that battery ONCE.
      The CX-90 PHEV travels 25 miles on one battery charge or travels 25 miles on ICE using 1 gallon of gasoline. So every time you charge the battery you are only saving 1 gallon of gasoline.
      For me, it costs $3.20 to charge the battery and the equivalent 1 gallon of gasoline in my area cost $3.27 per gallon
      So for a $4,000 PHEV option on the CX-90, the most I will save is 0.07 cents each time I charge that battery which would be once a day.
      What people are not doing is determining how much it cost to charge that battery. Yes you save on gas but electricity is not free and just because the cost is mixed in with other household use and you are not billed but once a month, people forget that it is not free.
      You need to ask yourself if YOUR difference is worth it. The only places where it would be worth it is where electricity is cheap (15 cents a Kwh) AND gasoline is expensive.

    just configured a 'base' i6t prefered+ to $49k and a 2.5t phev to $51k (keeping options like tow pkg the same). so, how much EV driving (short trips) will it take to recoup the difference? how far (miles) will that $2k get me down the road? choosing the right CX-90 is going to be tough

    • @clarkkent9080
      @clarkkent9080 Год назад +1

      The Mazda PHEV can only travel 25 miles in EV mode and all versions get 25 mpg combined. So the PHEV only saves you one gallon of gas per charge and in my area it costs as much to charge that massive battery as 1 gallon of gas. $4,000 to carry around a 700lb battery that saves you no money......no thanks. The Mazda PHEV is the most inefficient PHEV sold today.
