Amen, about time! I'm a little fed up of these super wide displays, which is why I bought an iPad after owning a few android tablets! This is interesting, thanks for the review!
I have had the 8GB ram and 64GB storage one for about 2 months and its been the best laptop, it's very snappy has no lag what so ever. I use it for all my assignments and it is great. I enjoy using the keyboard and it's just great.
Looks like a great device. I have a first.gen surface book which is a similar tall aspect and I really like it. 8gb of Ram is usually what I recommend to people buying Chromebooks. Chrome and ChromeOS are memory hogs.
@@meandmyEV mine has 4gb of ram with 64 drive. With cloud service google one being 100gb as extrea to save some work related document. Reducing other amount of space used in my 4gb ram which should allow it to run faster with little change
They're getting cheaper now and refurb available. The HP USI pen gets mixed reviews and is fairly high priced atm. Keep in mind that the new USI standard allows you to use any OEM USI pen though.
Lon loved all your reports, I have a question, how would the lenovo chromebook duet compare to this as a side by side performance, price difference is not huge if you bought the 128gb version of the duet
Hi Mate thanks for the information. Really enjoy. Which chromebook would you recommend the HB x360 12b or the Acer Spin 311 / 11.6 inch. Iam using the Samsung chromebook 303c since 2013 but there are no updates anymore still working fine but the time is knocking ... Thanks in advance Dirk
Lon, great reviews! I really enjoy watching then. I one quick question about this particular video, "Is it safe to assume that review would mostly align with the HP x360 14b?". I'm looked at a HP x360 14b-ca0015cl that I am considering buying.
@@acumen1 no backlit keys. For video editing there are plenty of Linux apps to choose from. Look at Shotcut and Olive for a start. If you find an editor you like then look up proxy editing to keep CPU and RAM in check while editing. It can be done - good luck :)
I´ve tried it usb-c to usb-c on a Lenovo M14t portable monitor @ 1920x1080/60hz and also usb-c to HDMI (via an adapter) @ 1366x768 and it works fine so I think you should be able to do usb-c to HDMI @1920x1080.
That's certainly a nice machine. I do kinda wish that they made a version with 8 GB of RAM though. It would likely make the Linux container run better.
this would be nice to play retro games on it, like nes/snes/megadrive it would be closer to taking up the whole screen. still $360 is kind of a high price for what you get. better get one of those Ryzen laptops that cost about 350-400. it's way better price for performance. and if you want this kind of experience, you can install one of the opensource chrome os or android versions for x86
Does it support external display on USB-c port via adapter. If supported, is the external display resolution supported up to 1080p or is it limited to 720p like inbuilt display?
That's a writer's dream. Well maybe an iPad Pro 11 in portrait mode is more like the classic "piece of 8.5x11 typing paper" Xerox 860 WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) word processor.
@@paulperkins1615 for this cash i can buy a real laptop with a real CPU and a real HDD and run Android (that i love) inside windows using a bundle soft (extremely easy)
At $360, I think this is _WAY_ overpriced. For closer to $250, you can find recent model iPads that are _MUCH_ better media machines, _MUCH_ better gaming machines and at least the equal as a web browsing machine. This Chromebook does have a keyboard, true, but the keyboard is hardly meant for serious and lengthy typing, so I'm not sure it's all that much more useful than the screen-tap keyboard on an iPad. I do own a Chromebook which I keep at the club just so I have a laptop available in case I need one (without having to plan ahead and always haul one around), but I paid closer to $200 for that. At that sort of price point, it makes more sense.
Can you giveaway this ? I will even pay for it because...I seriously need this particular model Chromebook for my college. And I'm not able to find it anywhere online or even at any stores in India !! Or best will be you get a new one for me and ship it, I'll pay u as per !!
It's a Chromebook. Definitely fine with 32GB as far as the OS and updates forever on the thing. No way it gets bricked by that sotrage amount on ChromeOS. WIndows now? Yeah definitely. MINIMUM 64GB for WIndows, but 128 is preferred minimum.

@@jasonhowe1697 What Windows does is not relevant to this machine. The 32 GB here is enough for most people unless and until they get into using Android Apps and/or Linux, then it becomes a problem that you should not have on a $350 computer.
@@jasonhowe1697 That's a much bigger difference than you seem to think it is. I really hate it when I have to do anything on a Windows computer any more. Unless of course I'm allowed to wipe Windows and install Linux.
Got flashbacks of my old EEE PC for a moment. Looks like a lovely little laptop!
I wish ASUS and Acer would get back into the netbook game.

Honestly, Lon. Those AMD laptops you reviewed a few weeks back for under $400.00 are a better value in my opinion than this Chromebook.
does it have palm rejection ?
Yes
Unless speakers are integrated into 4 corner of the screen. Flip design is pointless.

If it had twice the storage it would be worth a little more than the $220 to $250 that Lenovo C330s with 64 GB were going for last year.
