Appointed titular of the Aristide Cavaillé-Coll great organ at Saint-Sulpice, Paris (France), in February 2023, Karol Mossakowski performs one of the key pieces composed by one of his illustrious predecessors: Allegro, first movement of the Sixth Symphony in G minor, Op. 42, No. 2, by Charles-Marie Widor.

An absolutely stupendous performance of one of the finest pieces of organ music ever written.
When pipe organ speaks , All musical instruments MUST be silent ! ( specially these so called '' piano , arabic Oud, Qanun, Violin, drums, etc....'')
tha fact tjhat piano has become today the stereotype of Keyboard instrument where actually the concept of Keyboard itself is for PIPE ORGAN Centuriiies before ....... Well....... I prefer to remain silent 🙂
Excellent! This must be one of the most impressive movements in the organ repertoire. Nothing can better the main theme for it's majesty and power, and from that point on, the interest is maintained through a master's command of texture and development.
Played on the instrument that inspired it in such a persuasive manner, who could possibly top that? Bravo!

That was magnificent. To take on the great Cavaille-Coll at Saint Sulpice, to play one of Widor’s great pieces at his church, to do your own registration and to do it all from memory. Phenomenal!

Ce que ne savent pas ceux qui n'ont pas l'habitude de ce superbe instrument c'est qu'il est quasi impossible d'y jouer sans assistants et là, tu te débrouilles SEUL d'un bout à l'autre avec tous les changements de couleurs... Un immense bravo, je suis tellement heureux pour toi !

This was one of the first organ pieces I ever heard, played by Dupré, and it has been a favourite of mine ever since. Karol's performance is among the best I've heard!
Neben der beachtlichen Leistung des Organisten, die ausser Frage steht, möchte ich auch die Filmemacher loben. Es ist eines der wenigen Orgelvideos, die auch die technischen Finessen der Orgel diskret hervorhebt. Also die Bedienung der Fusstritte, Schwellerpedal etc. Es unterstreicht die Fähigkeiten des Organisten zusätzlich, muss er doch neben der komplexen Partitur auch dieses wunderbare Instrument selbst „beherrschen“. Das ist im Video Genial eingefangen!

What does it mean for an organist to play the piece at the same organ like Widoe himself?
Are there still notes of Widor wich stops and keybords of the organ he used to play his own works there?

Et dire que depuis c. 2010 et l'enregistrement du MAÎTRE Daniel Roth de cette pièce, Y a eu aucun autre enregistr. de cee Allegro de meilleur Qualité sur cet Orgue des Orgues ! ?
Gut gespielt! Diese Interpretation würde Widor sicher gefallen! (Pedal: das F ist im Bombarde 32 verstimmt....)
Svp, M. Dub-Attenti , pour la Widor toccata , tous les enregistrement video sur RUclips (en fait je vérifie depuis 2005) sont : Soit de qualité pas terrible (surtout la position du Micro ou on entend le mecanisme d'action), soit des fragment, soit non faite par Maître D. Roth , soit de pas HD etc...
On aimemerait bien avoir un enregistrement de Widor toccata sur cet Orgue si possible par M. Roth (à part les CD, ya aucun enregistrement complet fait par lui sur RUclips , et n'ooublion pas que les impro par M. Roth des année 2000 n'étéait pas de enregistré par un bon équipement audio-visuel) ! 🙂 Merci Monsieur Dub-Attenti (je pense que vous êtes diplômé Ingénieur, non ?🙂) !
