It's really weird watching Freddie acting as a psychotic character but he does it _so_ well. I belong in the generation which grew up with his old childhood and fantasy movies like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, August Rush, Arthur and the Minimoys saga, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Five Children and It, Finding Neverland etc. He was always playing an adventurous young boy, but now seeing him in such a different role and grown up, is really awesome and each season he manages to make me forget about his old movies and get in his role. He's a special and captivating actor, grown up in every possible meaning, honestly.
I'm the same I've just started season 2 and still can't wrap around my head the fact that the last film I saw him in was CATCF now he's suddenly grown up voice has changed and his playing completely different roles to what he used to do

broke multitrash I saw The Good Doctor first then Bates Motel. It destroyed me because Freddie’s acting as Shaun laid out my perception of Freddie as cute and innocent. Then I watched Bates Motel, which corrupted my perception because he played serial killer with DID.
One thing I realized after I finished Bates Motel, though, was Freddie is a versatile actor. Can’t wait for more of him. :)

Bates Motel was released on March 18, 2013 and that was 10 years ago. I was 14 going on 15 when this first came out. Freddie is an amazing actor and everyone who was part of the cast and crew were amazing as well.

Such a great actor... you never realize his quirks are acted. Some actors have quirky speech patterns and body language. He’s just a normal bloke but he crushes it on screen.

Freddie Highmore has definitely come a long way from playing Charlie Bucket in Tim Burton's remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He does a great job playing Norman IMO.
I completely agree, upon learning what happened in the later seasons, I was in disbelief. Of course, I knew this all happened in the show, but it was so out of character compared to the very beginning. I had to pull myself away remind myself how things originally were. It was hard making that connection, I wanted to believe it was as simple and pure as it seemed. At the very core, I believe it is, but it was not as perfect as it appeared to be on the surface. Freddie explained that well.

Great actor with a very promising future! I usually don't watch movies like "Bates Motel" but the characters... especially Norman and Norma have me hooked. As a mother of two sons myself I could relate to a lot of the movie even though it was a freaky, exaggerated version of a mother/son relationship. Very good series MOSTLY because of the fantastic characters and acting. Loved it! ♥️
