We need women's stand along hospitals and research centers specifically for middle-aged and older women. The lack of funding for that is appalling across this nation

In California there are 8 stand alone children's hospitals where some of the highest trained doctors go to work. Children who have serious injuries are brought to them. Even from other states. Children Hospital Oakland where I lived had a helicopter landing pad on its roof because they took care of the worst of the worst incidents that happened to kids. - Last year here in Las Vegas my son fell off the play structure and split his lip (leaking blood) so I had to take him to the ER. The intake nurse at the ER was questioning me about what happened and how did it happened when I already told her it literally happened 5 minutes ago at his school around the corner (I volunteered on this particular day). I didn't wait for the incident report copy the school was writing up but I offered her the school's information. I get it that they have to make sure its not abuse but you're interrogating me when my son is sitting here bleeding from his face. The ER doctor told me to put some Vaseline on it because it wouldn't be worth 1-3 stitches. A day later it got infected filled with green puss and was worse than the original injury. I took him to his pediatrician clinic to get him antibiotics and her eyes got so wide when I told her what the ER doctor said about putting vaseline on it.
