1: talking about free styling during a breakdance show
2: talking about the spread of the indo Germanic language through conquest of other language groups
3: throws the 40s line as a diss since she’s not understanding him
4: talking about the change from art back to violence in hip hop, the reverse of what happened in the 80s where it went from gangs to hip hop
5: the weapons, knives and rubber bands are a reference to zip guns ie home made guns popular in the 70s which he claims to make
6: costumes in a museum talking about a move away from the punk style hip hop of the early 80s and also talking about the hip hop revolution becoming mainstream
7: pray in spray and the monks always knew about it: there’s power in words just like the monks of the medieval era spent years copying old texts and style-izing or making art of the text it’s one of Rammellzee main tenants bend language and make it art to make a weapon out of it.... graffiti ( which he would probably not like the use of the term) has power because it can get a message to certain groups but not be understood at all by others

If Hip-Hop became a person it'd be Rammellzee!! This dude is beyond awesome!! He represent 3 of the 5 elements of hip-hop, Graf, MCing and Best Boxing. I also think he can break a little and he probably can DJ too. But he loves hip-hop culture and hip-hop needed people.like.him. He's def a little weird but all the great artist are. Not many people were able to understand Ramm, so don't get it twisted, Rocafella was very brave to put herself in the position to interview Ramm based on his unexpected visit.
Ramm was/is an incredible dude that people will be trying to understand for many lifetimes, so hopefully you can appreciate the brief moment captured of Ramm's & Rocafella's exchange, and gain a little insight to The Rammellzee.

Ramm was one of the Greatest Men who ever lived.
I've listen to some Rammellzee. He makes sense when you listen to him it's just that he basically seems to explain simple things in a more complicated way.

That would make more sense to me, because although I didn't have internet till 2006 I do remember seeing the internet a couple of times in the late 90's at other people's houses and it was super slow just showing you one damn porn picture lol, so I can't imagine 90's internet showing you any type of video let alone a video broadcast!

I'd be interested to know if Roc-a-fella took time after this interview to look into what Rammell was getting at? I must admit when I first saw this I was as confused as she was but having looked into his methods and approach I felt a lot more clued in rewatching
You would think so but she is from a different generation, a different time. It's looking back now we see hip hop is another package put together by the machine. Separate parts all happenings within the same time have been sold as a culture that just sprang from the ghetto into what we have today but obviously that's not true. Ramellzee was an originator in the graffiti world and he was an MC with his love and flair for language. Roc a fella is a hip hop DJ on the radio not so much creatively involved in the culture of hip hop as a part of the machine. If anything she prob kicks herself for not getting a cut rate ramellzee painting which would be priceless really today

It'll takes some time for all of us to understand what Ramm was talking about. My suggestion, if you are really interested in going down the Rammellzee rabbit whole is to check out his work, other interviews he's done, etc. I'm not gonna try and act like I understood most of what Ramm talked about, but he was passionate about his art and he was a very interesting person with interesting perspectives, and he was a good friend.

He was one of the first to bring together the art-forms of “graffiti”, breaking, and rapping. He was an eccentric well-rounded artist across many disciplines who never got the credit he deserved, yet always had a belief system that some people still subscribe to, to this day. Unfortunately some of those people have serious mental illnesses & give the beliefs a bad name, but at its core it is really damn interesting, and it goes reeeealllll deep.
TL;DR he’s a pioneer deserving of a place in every history book
