before MENACE TO SOCIETY ….. before BOYZ N THE HOOD, before JUICE …….. there was a movie called - COOLEY HIGH …...
Thank you
I met Sherman, aka Rick Stone when I was a beat cop in the Henry Horner homes. I saw him walking in Union Park and I stopped him and put my cuffs on him. He eyes got huge, he was like what was he being arrested for. I said he had a warrant for the murder of Cochise. He fell out laughing. Turns out he grew up with my boy C.J. A real cool dude.
Earl Banister that’s to funny
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He literally just left my house an hour ago! Thats my Uncle Rick❤
Well I used to love your Uncle Rick. It was something about the gravel in his voice, that deep, “Don’t try to play me stare” & how he would fix his lips in the movie that did it for me. “Stone & Robert” were my favorites because they reminded me of Brothas around my way.
Until they helped Damon find Cochise. That’s when I fell out with him. 🤣 I was fuming! 🤬🤬🤬
This is a real dude right here, gotta respect him.
He tells these stories with such pride and nostalgia. Glad that he got to live out a dream that he had no intentions of pursuing. Fun interview. RIP to his homeboy Norman Gibson.., you left your mark as well for all to enjoy.
Cooley high is a movie that never gets old to me! So glad to see Stone doing well, I'd like to see him do another movie. He has much personality!!
I was 14 when Cooley High came out. I watched it twice today on Spectrum. A classic 🎬 that will never get old. ❤
BROTHER STONE YOU DID YOUR THING IN COOLEY HIGH, I JUST FINISHED WATCHING IT AND IT ALWAYS MAKES ME FEEL SAD TO THINK THAT NORMAN GIBSON DIDN'T LIVE LONG AFTER THE MOVIE WAS MADE. R.I.P. TO NORMAN GIBSON AKA ROBERT
Thanks for checking
“You gotta make me or break me”... lol classic... he played that part, I was terrified of Stone and Robert, and furious with them when they killed Cochise! #Its so hard... to say goodbye to yesterday.. #Great and iconic film! #I own the VHS 📼 #Still get teary eyed
Rick you're a treasure to so many of us. A memorable piece of our lives.
Please know that you have millions of fans who appreciate your talent. Please take care of yourself.
Stone and Roberts was definitely gangsta in Cooley High. One of my favorite movies of all time. I not from Chicago, I'm from N.Y but we had similar situations in the bronx. That why I like this movie so much.
Very true. I’m from The Bronx too and I never get tired of this movie.
Good Piece
Them Cats were authentic
Rock On
Stone & R.I.P. Robert
i remember first time I saw the movie I knew Stone and Robert were real. Growing up in New York, we may talk different and dress different, but the warrior spirit in brothers is universal. Thank you brother for bringing authenticity to this classic.Eric Monte put Chicago on the map.
Bruh, just saw the movie for the first time. As soon as I saw stone and Robert they looked really real
Good he turned his life around!! Great find!
I was in Chicago in 1975 I believe when Cooley High had its opening day and he is right the theater was jam packed. He is a great person with personality plus. Loved the whole movie. Stone was great in it.
we love you rick history will always remember cooley high as an all-time great nostalgic movie. thank you.
I was a baby when they shot Cooley High in Cabrini but i do remember Cooley High School before they tore it down
Chi nation- BET U DIDNT LEARN $HIT AT THAT SCHOOL, DID YA? DONT FEEL BAD, DIDNT LEARN $HIT AT MINE EITHER...….....SMFH....ROFLMAO

Dope interview and real talented cool guy thanks for sharing.....1~Luv
Thank u
All of them should have had a prosperous career. I know Glen and Lawrence did, but all the others should have as well. A wealth of talent
You forgot Garrett Morris, Steven Williams and Robert Townsend 💯
They did a great job of keeping it real. All the actors!!!!!!!!?
Thanks for checking it out
Rick Stone is an "original & genuine" Soul Brother who is full of personality and character. Even when he was a gangster he had to be fun to be around. This is another great Bird's Eye View Production that has fully captured the soul of this man. Rick speaks openly from his heart, he also sings very good.
omar shabazz thank you for the comment. Rick is a great talent. That never got his shine.
omar- next time u see him, "tell em to hum me a few bars", i'd like to hear his singing voice, cause he sound just like "howling woof," from back in the way back his "A"...……..xoxo
@@wittysmitty100s hey brotha I love this piece on Rick Stone talking about the movie Cooley high but I want to know what's that jazz music piece that was playing in the background of the video? I likes that 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
@@scarfacemontana9239 it was royalty free music
@@wittysmitty100s oh ok thanks🔥💪🏿
the good ole days when rival gangs can watch a movie together
I loved that movie Cooley High
''I'm a stomp your ears together''
Stone always looked like a dude you wouldn't want to f*ck with.
One of my favorite lines. 😂
So thats where they get that from🤣🤣🤣🤣
He looks and sounds like he would actually do that too lol 😂
🗣fantastic interview Rick Stone. This is apart of history. I met you one time.and I you sang at my bestfriend father Funeral. His father was in Cooley High to. His name Maurice Havis. They call him Bingo. And he would be truly missed by all. Thank you for sharing the interview. God bless & keep the good work. The next level Dj.m.smooth
Thank you my brother. It’s funny that I looked your father up the other day to reach out to do a interview. But I found out that he passed. Sorry to hear that. Stone is a good brother. I also did a interview on Pooter and Tyrone from Cooley High. Go on the Facebook and look up N’Digo Megapaper and type in Eye On Chi. Then you can check out the other interviews.
This guy is something else. Interesting guy.
Thanks for checking
That’s true about the Chicago accent. Being from the NYC area and having lived in Chitown for two years I was fascinated by the southern connection they had. But the food was incredible. I still say the best
“Soulfood” I had in my life was my two years living in Chicago.
yeah i lived there too before.... the chicago accent is little lighter than the st. louis accent; when u hear st. louis people speak its way more stronger! alot people's families from Mississippi, alabama , and georgia, went to Detroit, St. Louis, Chicago, Milwaukee , gary, indiana, and cleveland. Especially Mississippi! The ties to chicago and detroit is real heavy; Chicago and Detroit aint nothing but "Uptown Mississippi"
Southern roots ❤
“Homie go hard like Stone and Robert in the stolen car” - Nas
Thats gotta be the song he’s referring too
ICONIC Movie
Check that out! Back in the day, I remember when you could go to a hole-in-the-wall diner and get an order of ribs cooked right in front of you. (at frame 5:13)
A Chicago Treasure. Blessings Good Brotha and Peace to the Multitude.
Hello Stone. Good to see you doing well. You are a real bother. One luv

Classic
I watched CH today on Spectrum cable. A classic movie that never gets old. I remember back in the day we didn't have cable, it was showed on TV. It seem just yesterday watching it at 14 yrs old. ❤
I THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING TO SAY THEY BOTH GOT KILLED, GLAD AT LEAST ONE IS STILL ALIVE AND HAD SOME SUCCESS IN LIFE. WISH HE WOULD MAKE MORE MOVIES, I KNOW STONE AND ROBERT WAS THE CO-STARS, BUT TO EVERYONE ELSE BACK IN THE DAY, THEY WERE THE TRUE STARS, LOVE EM TO DEATH xoxo...RIP aka Robert...smdh..sad just sad
Thank u for watching
I own Cooley High on DVD, and Corona got me in here digging in the crates. I just finished watching it again, and when the credits rolled, I decided to look up some of the names to see what they're up to now. Damn! All these years I had no clue about Rick Stone. This is one interesting brotha. Cooley High is a classic, and I forgot Robert Townsend was in it too. I watched Claudine right before that, which is another classic in our community.
NJbakintheday I did a part one but it’s on another page.
Thanks for checking
@@wittysmitty100s Yeah, I found it and watched it. This content is gold! Appreciate you sharing this.

@@wittysmitty100s Rick Stone makes me think about this cat I was stationed in Germany with in the late 80s. He was from Chi-town... was a banger too, so a lot of what Rick is saying here sounds real familiar to me.
A lot of character great life he's led
Awesome. God Bless You I'm a fan of Cooley High
Again, I'm so very Happy for Mr. Stone and all his accomplishments, he's so truthful and real!!!
Heavy
Ps Peace to the whole cast of Cooley High. And to the artist on the soundtrack.
Rick Stone I tell people that you and Norman weren't acting and that the two of you were actually just being yourselves. I was a victim of you and Norman crap game robberies without a gun, because yes you did have that stick up reputation. Love you to the ends of the earth.
Johnny e Baggett wow that’s crazy
Amazing how the universe works.
Jeff fort black stone the brother
That was some bad stuff Stone and Robert had!!!
Jeff Fort BPS and his mother lived in my granny’s building 66 th Blackstone behind the Southmoor Hotel. The building is still standing and recently sold for 1.4M. Granny was a visionary. BPS respected and revered granny. ❤

Man we bout to hat up we dig y’all later...we use to say that a lot back then in St. Louis when we were leaving from someplace or getting ready to go somewhere.
I went to college in St Louis
I knew people like that in 1966/ 1967 in Homewood So Similar the place they hung at in Homewood was just like the place in the Movie

I can’t seem to find the interview with Tyrone on your page can you possibly send me a link? Or maybe goes by a different name now?
I didn’t load it because of the audio issues. We might have to redo it or I might load it anyway. You thinks it’s ok to load it up on here then I will.
Would appreciate it thanks. :)
Great interview, cool ass dude
@@crob949 thank you
OK Stone was a puppy😇😂😂😂you knew they was ruthless
Funny he mentioned the Southmoor hotel on 67th. It's now a bank on that corner. My lil brother and I used to play in that abandoned property in the early 70s when we lived across Stony, in South Shore. Never knew it was a crime scene that brought down the Blackstone Rangers.

Pride is ah Mutha
A Natural Comb.
EJ Mal yeah that’s crazy
Stoned and Robert they were classic gang members for real Cooley high, where it all started the rough part of the neighborhood the ghetto

@@wittysmitty100s you’re welcome, bro
I Wonder what Happened After Robert got Killed
Smith was GREAT as Stone
He really was a gangster all the acting that he did was not scripted he was acting natural with his friend Norman Gibson. Him and his friend Norman Gibson was a gangster also was going to rob the set if they didn't get the part.
@6:50 did he say counts? Some people say that he said stones but I cant tell
😂 i love this man but i hate him at the same time killing my boy cheeks i know its just a movie but i see it as if it was real 😂😂😂😂😂
