I posted this video Thursday (2/15). YT blocked it. I’ve been re-editing this video (14 re-edits) for two days😩. I sliced and diced this video up so much .. I know it’s not my best. YT is showing this movie for free so I guess they want everyone to watched it on their channel. Now that I know if YT is showing a movie for free, I still need to heavily blur/chop it up. The next movies will be more cohesive.
The guy who wrote the film and who the character Preach is based on, Eric Monte went on to create 70s shows Good Times and The Jeffersons and the teen comedy sitcom What's Happening!
Fun fact I couldn't let slide: Actor Glynn Turman (Preach) was actually 28 years old when he played 17 year old "Preach", and Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs was 21 as 17 year old "Cochise". Great job by both, but Glynn Turman? "Dang!" he get props for pulling that off at 28! 👏🏾
EXACTLY! Join the club of people who love this movie and finally found someone that reacted to it! Tamera is indeed a Rock Star for that! ⭐...There are a lot more of us out there that will eventually find it and will be equally "pleasantly surprised" to discover it over time, hopefully...🤞🏾
Nobody reacts for this… thank you so much. This movie was way before my time but my childhood best friend and I used to watch this all of the time in the 90’s
Wow! I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed your reaction to this movie! I wasn't bothered by the editing in the least! And, it was just almost too good to be true that you actually sing the Four Tops song that was in the movie when you do your hair! lol (receipts). You even surpassed my expectations on how much I enjoyed it with your enthusiasm of recognizing actors that you've seen before, now in their younger days in this movie - just delightful! All I can say is that "you k!113d it, very enjoyable, and good job!" 👏🏾 (by the way let me just add, your commentary throughout was enjoyable and you didn't "interrupt or get in the way" of the movie, BRAVO!) 👏🏾
Loved your review of this classic! Cochise hit his head on a steel beam after Damon hit him! Great film based on a true story."Preach" is Eric Monte who created "Good Times"! It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday" was written for this movie! G.C. Cameron. sings it great!
Someone else in the comments made me aware as well. I had to slow the scene down to really see his head hitting the beam and not his jaw. I'm glad you enjoyed the review!
I graduated high school 1975 (not from Cooley High, but another school in Chicago) and the film resonated then. While the film was set about 11 years prior, the experiences were not a lot different. Giving up a little "for those that ain't here" was/is all too familiar. Here's to them..Eric, David, Ronnie, Patricia ..😢
Ms. Tamera, please forgive my language, but you are a "Godd@mn Rockstar!" for reacting to this black classic! You have just made yourself "different". I only know of one brotha on RUclips who reacted to this. Others have "reviewed it", therefore, I see you as a stand-out which is a good sign! Ya know, I haven't even watched it yet, because seeing your thumbnail alone for this movie deserves props & kudos right NOW! Now, let me check it out regardless of the editing that you spoke of in the comments section, and if it's that "incohesive", we all know you'll continue to perfect your craft with time...🕰👌🏾
Cochise didn't face didn't just hit the beam, it was the blow to the temple that killed him. I had a friend who passed away from the same injury. That's why baseball players are required to wear batting helmets, to protect that area.
Appreciate all your time with the editing . Thanks for doing this all time favorite classic. Yes you do know a lot of those actor's ( they were very young). I don't know which i like better your reactions or your hair maintenance. Iam inspired to go and have a shampoo wash.
Classic movie I love Old-school movies,I got this on DVD Mr Wilson played in Martin show, it' still tear 😢me up when Cochise died he was killed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time but great movie with great music 60s had great music even though I was born in 78 LoL
Trivia: The teacher you might know from "Martin" as (Stan, owner of radio station that Martin worked at the first season..........."Preach", you might know as (Hillman professor, Colonel Taylor on "A Different World"........Cochise played (father of the Jacksons, "Joe Jackson" on tv movie "The Jacksons: An American Dream")...my parenthesis game got lost in the sauce.
T, as the movies occur to me, I toss 'em to you to consider, here's three: [1) 1987's "Hollywood Shuffle" Robert Townsends (funny/poignant) take on prejudice in Hollywood roles for blacks........2) 1981's "Bustin Loose" with criminal Richard Pryor given a 2nd chance being ordered to relocate kids who's school closed - funny, touching, racial antics ensue........3) 1976's "Car Wash", Variety of character's hijinks & antics in one day working at the car wash, (get the girl, black militant anger, prostitute's life, Richard Pryor makes cameo as corrupt preacher, etc) all on one day at the Car Wash]. ✊🏾
This movie is the blueprint for Coming Of Age movies. Please watch the following movies: Boyz N The Hood Juice The Inkwell The Wood Roll Bounce ATL Dope
Here's a couple more flicks to consider: [1) "Sparkle", the original from 1976 starring Irene Cara........2) "Aaron Loves Angela", also with Irene Cara's movie debut]
@@im_a_Fann Oh ok..."movie taking back seat to life?" - well, why don't you just combine the two and do a (movie) called ("LIFE")?.....JUST KIDDINGGGGGGG! lol....Anyway, it's all Cooley, your subs will probably have grown when you get back...
Oh wow I haven't seen a sister use a head wrap in a while only bonnets...yeah this movie is a good mellow watch this is probably your great grandparents era a old spirit but young age..
Preacher is Eric monte who created good times, the Jefferson’s, what’s happening. He really did run off to Hollywood and became a successful screenwriter but he says Norman Lear stole all his creations .
By the the way, there are so many movies to pick from - if you haven't already watch these two, my (Top 2 all-time favorite movies), I would heavily suggest them: [1) Eddie Murphy & Arsenio Hall in the classic, "Coming To America".......2) again Eddie Murphy & Martin Lawrence in, "LIFE"]. Many people know about the greatness of "Coming To America" but few people know about the (EQUAL) greatness of "LIFE". Both movies: great storylines, funny, well-made, outstanding makeup!, and even touching moments in both. Finally I'll add, LIFE also has (Bernie Mac, Rick James, Anthony Anderson of 'Black-ish', and many more that you may recognize)...
Robert Townsend was in the scene in the gym playing basketball when they were telling Cochise and Preach that they were snitches. Robert Townsend is known for The Five Heartbeats, Hollywood Shuffle, and I'm Gonna Get You Sucka.@im_a_Fann
Brenda is light skin not white. Probably multigenerational mixed race (neither parent is fully white but has a white ancestor on both sides). I grew up with a lot of Black Americans like her. I read that the director did not want her as the love interest because she was so light and the impression that can give to an all Black audience.
@@NeptuneLady1957 that’s great and all but we all know historically representation has been skewed to favor biracial and lighter hue women. Representation is useless if it’s going to further toxic stereotypes amongst us.
